Great family vacation

August 4, 2016

My family and I recently stayed at The Round House. We had the most fabulous time! There was 6 adults and one 3 year old and there was plenty of room. My grandson loved the upstairs play area and all the Lincoln Logs he found!! The kitchen was beautiful and we loved that there was so much open area on the main floor. They also supply a book of things to do in the surrounding areas. What a great idea!! I grew up in Belfast and never knew this house existed! The fire pit was great along with the walking trails. I would highly recommend this home. We had made a lot of wonderful memories!! We are planning another trip and will book the Round House again!

Wonderful stay at the Round House

May 18, 2015

Our group of 5 adults plus our dog stayed for 2 nights at the Round House for a dog test in Winterport. We appreciated the secluded surroundings which allowed ample room for the dog to run. The house is beautiful and extremely comfortable - the pictures don't do it justice. Everyone slept soundly due to great mattresses and the peaceful location. The Tall family provided a complete kitchen, linens and towels, thorough information about the house and surrounding area and many extra thoughtful touches. We would love to return for a longer stay.

Great Family Getaway

4 of 5

My wife and I rented the Round House for a week with family in early July. With 5 beds and 6 TV's, the Round House had plenty of space and entertainment for us and our two small children as well as my sister and parents, who also stayed with us.

The large yard was great for outdoor walks with our toddler and the 2 rocking chairs helped soothe our infant daughter. The Satellite TV and Wi-Fi were a bonus while the fully-stocked game room (with pool table) provided much-needed relaxation after the kids went to bed. Guests were blown away by the open design in the kitchen and the downstairs game room were a cool hideaway during the 98 degree days.

An outdoor gas grill would have been a nice touch. Other than that, our stay was nearly perfect. We had a great time at the Round House and look forward to staying there again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the things to do at or around the Round House?
A: My wife and our family have been vacationing in Maine for 16 years. We love hiking Acadia Park (a little over an hour away), beach combing in Lincolnville, or just exploring some of the great restaurants in Belfast, Searsport and more. We never seem to get tired of it. We bought the Round House to enjoy and walk 50+ acres, light a fire at night and enjoy our family and talk about the adventures we did that day. We want to share this with others when we are not there.
Q: What makes the Round House special?
A: Having stayed on Mount Desert Island for many years, we got tired of the crowds and increased popularity over the years. We wanted some place to enjoy some privacy but also like the fact that Acadia National Park is a short ride away. We also feel in love with Belfast as a non-commercialized version of Bar Harbor with GREAT restaurants.

Also, once we took a dip in Swan Lake and felt the warm water swimming in Maine, we were hooked. And, taking a walk in the woods to see a family of deer or finding tree frogs hanging out, WOW.

Lastly, I LOVE to cook. So we are adding kitchen amenities, if anyone shares that passion. I am bringing up many extra kitchen appliances and cookware as well as a bunch of cookbooks. if anyone has a favorite recipes please share and if you want any, we would love to send to you.
Q: What's the coolest nearby activity?
A: Many, many things but here are a smattering: Lunch at Rollies. Coffee, cookies and books at Bella Books. Searching for sand dollars in Lincolnville or Moose Point Park. Antique shopping. Pasta at Delvino's. Getting lobsters from Young's to bring them back to the cabin and steam them in our huge lobster pot. Going for a boat ride or fishing trip in Belfast. Or to one of the train or maritime museums. You can watch the Belfast Curling club (men with brooms) and try to figure out why it's in the Olympics (it's harder than it looks!). OR just sit by he fire pit roasting marshmallow.

You can go kayaking, visit art gallerys, play golf, hike, see a band at the local venue, see a local show or if you just want to veg, grab a movie at the local theater.
