“Great Vacation Home”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2016

Wonderful location on (crystal clear) Swan Lake. The cottage is very good sized with lots of indoor & outdoor space. Well appointed, very clean, and overall great. Plenty of kitchen and island space to prepare meals. Plenty of deck space to lounge. The owner, Duncan Brown, is just a text away with any help you may need - and he is extremely helpful. The town of Belfast was only 15 minutes away, and we split our time between the lake and trips into the town. Really a gem to find this home and would recommend it highly. Perfect for two couples (upstairs/downstairs) or a family. Handled 5 adults easily when we had visitors. If it's available - go for it.

Owner's reply: Thanks Bill & Patti ! Glad you enjoyed your stay, Hope you come back again!

We really enjoyed our stay at Duncan's cottage. We spent time relaxing and enjoying the view. Duncan is a great landlord and very helpful in giving us places to see in Maine. We enjoyed the kayaks as well. We would definitely spend another vacation here if time permits!

Owner's reply: Glad you had a good time! September & October is some of the Best time at the lake! Look forward to see you again. Duncan

“Super location and experience!”

Five high school friends celebrating our 50th birthday! We had a blast! The house is beautifully maintained and comfortable. There was plenty of hot water, (important for 5 women), two bathrooms, a well stocked kitchen, (all the needed resources for cooking), a lovely deck that overlooks the lake and a nice dock to sit on, fish off of or just to sunbathe on. The house was clean and had plenty of room. Duncan, the owner, is super easy to work with and he went out of his way to make our vacation one of the best ever! We will definitely return.

Owner's reply: You Girls Were Great Loved having you and look forward to seeing you again! Two weeks next time!!!

“Best place to have a girls week”

5 of us girls decided to take a vacation to celebrate all of us turning 50. OMG. Couldn't ask for a better place to have our reunion and celebrate our birthdays. Duncan was the best we could ask for. If we needed something he did his best to assist. Highly recommend this property can't wait to go back.

Owner's reply: Thanks Mel You girls were a great bunch! look forward to seeing you all again ! Watch out for the Bushwackers at Swan Vegas !! LOL

“Just right”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2015

This is our second time to stay at this house and won't be our last. With family in the area there is plenty of room for folks to gather for the day. The kitchen is large enough to easily handle a crowd and the location is perfect - close enough to the Swanville store while being very private and quiet. This east side of the lake doesn't have the traffic like the west side. The dock is nice, kayaks are fun and the king bed in the master bedroom is comfortable. Just be ready for the morning sun to wake you up early! Duncan is right on top of things if you need him, but otherwise leaves you alone.

Owner's reply: Thanks Glen, Look forward to seeing you and your wife again.

“Nice place, good value”

The cottage is in excellent condition. The owners live 200 feet away and were right on tap. When I asked where I could get a propane tank refill, he brought one over and installed it instantly. the water is good for small kids with a slow drop-off in depth. Not deep enough for bigger kids. The only negative is there is terrible phone and no internet connection. The location is one of the best on the lake. But if connection isn't important, this is a great spot

“Graduation gift deserved”

I gave my 18 year old daughter the choice of Cancun or this house on the lake. She chose the house to celebrate with family. We all had a great time. Everything you needed besides cloths and food was all there. We could not have asked for a better vacation going again next year.

“Beautiful Relaxing Vacation”

Reviewed 22 Aug 2011

We stayed at this lake house for a family vacation with our children and grandchildren. The area offers something for everyone. The boys went golfing while the girls went to the many art shops in Belfast. We also visited the Penobscot Bridge and Observatory, very nice, and while we were there the kids explored Fort Knox. The area was also great for my training for a 10k that I have in the future. Sunsets at the lake house were just beautiful.
