Our Vacation Rental is located in the seafaring community of Tarpon Springs, on Florida's West Coast. We are just north of Tampa and Clearwater. Our home is within the Historic District, an area of quiet streets, Victorian homes, traditional Florida Cottages and museums. Easy walking distance to the Sponge Docks and Greek Village, downtown Tarpon Springs and Spring Bayou. The Saint Michael House is a charming, venerable cottage built by Greek settlers from the Mediterraean Islands. It has handpainted floors, wide front porch, and radiates comfort and relaxation. Guests have found it a wonderful place to heal, let go of stress and problems. The house has had a happy history, and shares that energy with our guests. Please note that our rental is a stand alone private home and not a condo or townhouse. Owner lives in an apartment at the back of the house separated by the laundry room. Owner has a separate entrance and separate parking spot. Guests control access to entire rental area. Owner is frequently away. Interactions with owner are only initiated by guests. Owner will not enter the house unless requested by guests or in an actual emergency.

About the area

Our rental is located in the most historic neighborhood of Tarpon Springs. It was the area first settled in the 1800’s around the abundant fresh water of Spring Bayou. The bayou is home to manatee, dolphin and other wildlife. Craig Park is located next to the bayou. It has a small museum, tennis courts, a public boat ramp and many benches set beneath massive oak trees. A sea wall surrounds the part of the bayou closest to town and this is a favorite of people taking their morning or evening walk. Kayaks are available for rental from local dealers. Bicycles can be rented in town and power boats can be provided by Marinas located along the Anclote River near the Sponge Docks.

Getting around

Having a car is advisable in order to fully explore nearby towns and area beaches. There is both bus and trolley service in the area but they are rather slow.

Getting here

If driving from Tampa International Airport, take Route 60 West toward Clearwater. Approximately 6 miles to Route 19 North, exit from right lane. Follow 19 North for approximately 12 miles. You will see signs for Tarpon Springs. Stay in the left hand lane and turn left onto Tarpon Avenue. Follow Tarpon Avenue through two traffic lights until STOP sign directly in front of Spring Bayou, looks like a large lake. Turn right at STOP sign and drive one block to Riverside Avenue and STOP sign. Proceed straight ahead, the road name will change to Grand Boulevard. Drive one block to the Saint Michael House. It is a cheerful yellow house on the left, at the corner of Grand Blvd and Parkins Court.

Interaction with guest

Owner will be on hand to greet guests and both walk them through the house and answer questions. If owner is not available to welcome guests, he will arrange for a suitable substitute to meet with guests. Owner lives in separate apartment connected to rear of the house. Owner has separate entrance and separate parking spot. Owner will not enter where guests are residing unless specifically requested by guests. We provide Streaming TV services. We do not have cable. Streaming allows our guests manyTHE HOME IS EXHAUSTIVELY CLEANED AFTER EACH GUEST. A HOSPITAL STRENGTH GERMICIDAL SPRAY IS USED TO CLEAN COMMON SURFACES, KILLING VIRUS AND BACTERIA. AC SYSTEM IS ALSO SPRAYED.
