About the area

Tarpon Springs is a unique tourist location on the west coast of Florida. Without large hotels or motels, the area remains unspoiled and retains its rich personality as the largest Greek community outside of Greece. Street festivals, Greek food, gift shops and music abound. Visitors will find great shopping, authentic foods and items from Greece, beaching, parks, charter boats and private boat rental, great fishing and more, in a more laid-back manner than busier places in Florida. History enthusiastics will enjoy the antique district and restored historical buildings, providing a venue for restaurants, a winery, art galleries and tavern on original red-bricked streets. Original Victorian homes line the many bayous around town, and much can be viewed by foot or on the Tarpon Trolley. Several sight-seeing boats provide excursions of the river and gulf. The scenic Pinellas Trail (a 30 mile path that runs from Tarpon Springs to St. Petersburg) is great for walking, jogging, running, biking, and rollerblading. Rental gear can be leased downtown at Tarpon Tom's, from scooters to kayaks. Fishing gear and bait can be purchased from the Bait Bucket, just a 1/2 mile from the home. Tarpon is home to many churches of many denominations, including the beautiful St. Nicholas Orthodox church that hosts the annual Ephiphay dive for the cross each January. 20 minutes to Brighthouse Fields Spring Training Camp for Philadelphia Phillies 1 .5 hour drive to Orlando Amusement Parks including Disney World, Epcot, Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, MGM, and Sea World 45 minute drive to Busch Gardens and Adventure Island Amusement Parks 50 minutes from Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and Ford Amphitheatre 45 minutes from Tampa International Airport 30 minutes from St. Pete/Clearwater Airport Several Championship Golf Courses in the surrounding area 45 minute drive to Weeki Wachee Water Park home of the famous mermaid show. 10 minutes to Innisbrooke world class golfing. .

“Perfect Getaway!”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2016

Every Year we look for a vacation spot for our family to get together . We have been to Disney, Dollywood, Myrtle Beach, and other touristy places in the past. This year we wanted a place close to attractions and things to do, but more importantly a place to relax and enjoy our home away from home. We found Diane's home on Trip Advisor this year and could not have made a better choice. The house is located in a small waterfront community just around the corner from the Historic Sponge Docks in Tarpon Springs. The house was beautifully decorated and well maintained with everything we needed to have a memorable vacation. The pictures we saw online did not do it justice! .We met Laura the property manager and she was extremely friendly and helpful. The kids spent hours in the pool and not on their phones, which was a thing of beauty. We enjoyed morning coffee by the pool and watched for dolphins in the mornings. The location was perfect for a quick trip to Tampa, St Pete, Clearwater or Crystal River. One thing you must do, is a visit to nearby Hellas for dessert, or Mykonos for authentic Greek cuisine. I would definitely stay again.

Owner's reply: Lee, Thank you so much for the review, we are so glad you enjoyed our home as much as we do!! Come again!!

“Back Again!”

This is our second time renting Diane and Scott's house in Tarpon! The house works for our family of 5, with the master suite downstairs and two bedrooms, a loft and bathroom upstairs. The furniture is very pretty and looks almost new! We fit 6-7 people at the kitchen bistro table. The pool is very nice and warm! I feel this house is well worth the rental price and nicer than many other rentals. A big bonus is the house is on a better than nice street with very friendly neighbors and a back yard that has no rear neighbors! If you love to fish, just step out your back door and cast a line in the canal! The famous Greek Sponge Docks are literally around the corner and if you want a close place to grab a bite to eat, look no further than Hella's. This is the first time in 26 years we actually ate dinner at Hellas. What a treat, as good as my mom's cooking! One look at the dessert showcase will have you drooling. Soula tipped us off to her favorite desserts and boy was she right, truly delicious. Diane is great to deal with and prompt with returning your security check. Laura, the property manager is a doll, she is so nice and truly cares that your stay is fantastic! If you haven't checked out Caladesi Island, you are missing out on setting foot on a piece of nature's tropical paradise! Our trip wouldn't be complete without another tattoo from Evan at Cherry Bomb!

Owner's reply: Thank you Mike for your review. I hope you are able to come again next year. Thank you for appreciating the view from the back yard, no neighbors behind the canal, looks more like you are overlooking a park. That is the reason we purchased this home, the quiet, peaceful surroundings. So glad your family had a great vacation despite all the rain you had. Diane

“Great home away from home”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2015

The place was fantastic, great view of the canal, and clean inviting pool. We spent most of our days just lounging in the solar heated pool for hours. One day we were able to see two manatees swimming down the canal...now that was an awesome site to see. We are so sad our stay was soo short. We will definitely rent from Diane again.

“Great Vacation Rental”

Reviewed 12 Jun 2015

Our family of 7 had a great time. The place was was spacious with all the accomodations and amenities needed. Would definitely rent this again if in the area. Tarpon Spings has lots to do. Diane, the owner, is very easy to work with.

“Well worth the stay!”

This is a pretty home in an upscale, safe, quiet & friendly neighborhood, just off Alt 19 which has easy access to gulf beaches and shopping on 19. The view from the backyard, is private and amazing! The home is well stocked with many essentials & the BBQ which is included in the price is a real plus! The pool is solar heated and warm, great for a swim anytime! All beds are comfy even the loft beds! The house was very comfortable for our family of 5 and it is very evident that many people have used the home and spent wonderful vacations in it over the years. Diane (owner) is very nice to deal with and will respond to you right away! Highlights in the area for us were: Hella's Bakery (everything is yummy and better than any bakery in NY) and the Fish Store at the Sponge Docks which is loaded with many fresh fish varieties at great prices. There is an organic grocery store called Nature's Food Patch in Clearwater, Strachan's Homemade Ice Cream in Palm Harbor is worth going off any diet for!! We love the white sands of Clearwater beach which is an easy 1/2 hour drive away and it has some great restaurants and shopping on the strip. The International Plaza in Tampa also has great shopping and at any Dillards you can get a great bargain and something very different (compared to our NY stores)! Parking at Clearwater Beach runs $2.50-$1.50 an hour. Fred Howard Park charges $5 for all day parking and Madeira Beach is around $1 an hour for parking. John's Pass Boardwalk has some cute shops; a little more upscale than the Sponge Docks while St. Armand's Circle is the nicest outdoor strip mall on the beach that we have been to so far. For 25 years we have been vacationing in Tarpon Springs and find new things to do every time we return. My husband even got his tattoo redone at Cherry Bomb Tattoos by Evan Q, who is an amazing artist. Universal Studios isn't that far and has some amazing rides and the new Harry Potter exhibit is amazing. We hope to return again!

Owner's reply: Thank you for your review Portia, sounds like you got a lot of sight seeing in on your vacation. Tarpon Springs is a perfect vacation location, quiet Greek community and an easy drive to almost everything Florida has to offer. Our home is the perfect quiet place to return after a fun day on the go!

“Very nice”

Reviewed 18 May 2014

We had a very relaxing family vacation. Close enough to Tampa to go to Busch Gardens, St Pete to watch the Ray and to all of the best beaches but far enough away from the bar scene to enjoy quiet nights on the deck. House was very nice and felt like home from the moment we walked in the door!

“Great location Not so much the set up”

Reviewed 5 Jan 2014

Great house for a family for size--3 bedrooms + a bunk in an open loft. Great location in delightful Tarpon Springs-- easy in/out and around tourism interests in the area. The house, however, needs to be cleared of owner's belongings and presence. An in-home office is inappropriate to vacation renters and the house lacks a dining room table for comfortable meal sitting. Pool and deck are lovely but pool should be heated. The owners need to give a bit more thought to accommodating vacationers and their needs.

Reviewed 23 Nov 2012

Stayed at this house with a group of friends from around the world for a wedding. There were eight of us in all. The accommodations were superb and roomy. Beckie was extremely helpful and available for any assistance we needed . We would not think twice about renting this home again and to top it all off we saw dolphins swimming in the canal behind the house really cool

Owner's reply: Thank you, Tennesee. It was a pleasure serving you and your guests and we look forward to doing it again! Beckie
