“Spacious and peaceful.”

Reviewed 7 Feb 2017

Comfortable home in a super-quiet neighborhood. Easily accommodated 8 adults. Plenty of room at the dining table for dining, cards, and games. Generous kitchen allowed milling about and food prep participation. Good beds and pillows; good bathrooms. Enough hot water for two showers and a dishwasher simultaneously. Ample seating on screened-in porch with a lovely view of the waterway. Some in our group enjoyed a kayak cruise. Nobody used the pool but it looked clean and inviting. Conveniently located near John Pennekamp State Park - snorkeling and other outdoor activities - and other snorkeling hot spots. We will be back.

Owner's reply: Thank you. We try really hard to make our house comfortable for everyone who stays. We appreciate the kind word and are happy you enjoyed your stay.

“Awesome Family Vacation”

Reviewed 15 Mar 2016

We have stayed at this home 2 years in a row and have enjoyed ourselves tremendously! It has a great location at the end of the street, corner lot, pool privacy, and water front. The house is large enough to accomodate our large family and give privacy to all. Love it!

Owner's reply: Thanks for the kind words Julie - we try very hard to make it a pleasant place to stay - we love having you guys come ever year

“Love Islamorada!”

Reviewed 4 Dec 2015

My husband and I stayed at the Great Getaway for the Thanksgiving week and had a wonderful and relaxing time. The house is nice and very clean. The bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. The outside space is very nice and landscaped to create privacy. We spent a lot of time on the canal dock and the views of the full moon shining on the canal were amazing. We fished off the dock and enjoyed daily visits by a manatee family. Paddling the canoe through the canals was especially fun. Very convenient location with easy access to activities and many restaurants with great food. The owner is responsive and helpful - and Craig, the property manager who lives 3 houses away, was very pleasant to deal with and gave us lots of good advice of what to do locally.

Owner's reply: Hi Debbie - We are so happy you and Joe enjoyed the house. Craig, Pete and myself try very hard to make it comfortable for all. Let us know if there is anything we could improve on. We appreciate your positive comments and hope you will visit again. Happy Holidays to you and your family

“Islamorada Oasis”

Oasis by defination - a refuge, as from work or stress; haven. What a wonderful ten day vacation my family of five adults, just spent here at 246 Apache Street. With almost daily visits from the wild manatees and perfect weather we couldn't have asked for much more.- This private home sleeps 6 comfortably in 3 bedrooms on main floor; 3rd story loft sleeps additional 4 singles & private granny flat on street level sleeps 2 more w/ kitchenette, living room. bathroom & walk out patio. Main floor has spacious living quarters with great screened in upper balcony. Enjoy the view with your morning coffee - my favourite thing. A variety of fun and fine dining restaurants are within easy driving distance, fish lovers heaven. Pizza around the corner for lazy, eat-in evenings. Grocery and liquor store a quick 2 mile drive to stock up on supplies. Generous stock of towels, sheets, etc available for use and full appliances made this stay for my family a great time. Beautiful private pool steps from the house and close to the canal. We would definately come back! And thank you Joe - the rental process was easy and hassle free. Craig, the on-site contact person, was friendly but unobtrusive. Thanks!

We had such an amazing time at this house. We would definately recommend any one to stay there. My kids loved fishing off of the dock and feeding the manatee. We all enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Plus the house has everything you could possibly want for your vacation, spacious, clean and close to everything. We LOVE this place!!!

“Wonderful Vacation Home”

Reviewed 5 Mar 2012

We rented this home for the month of Feb. What a wonderful place it is. We had anywhere from 2 to 8 people at various times and the house was just great for visitors also. We loved having our boat tied up at our own dock and enjoyed the manatees when they came to visit. The pool was great, although a little cool when we arrived. However, it warmed up during the month and we even went swimming the last 2 weeks. The home was clean and pretty well equipped. I did purchase a few things for the kitchen while we were there but they were minor things like chip clips and cutting boards. The kitchen is like new and great for cooking for a crowd. We loved eating on the screened porch and it became a favorite place to sit and drink coffee early in the morning and enjoy watching the boats leaving the canals. The house is very well equipped with nice linens. There are quite a few sets in each bathroom so you have plenty for guests also. It was such a pleasure not to have those thin, cheap towels and sheets like in some homes you rent. The owners have provided lots of beach towels also. This house is in a great location to get around the upper keys. It was easy to ride bikes to nearby places and we enjoyed riding through the neighborhood also. You can easily drive to Key West from Islamorada and spend the day and be back that evening. Some members of our party went into Florida City to play golf a few times and didn't mind the drive either. Some of our favorite places to go by boat and eat on the water were: Islamorada Fish Company, (they have great fresh seafood to buy also), Lorelei, and Island Grill. We also enjoyed the Cheeca Lodge, Robbie's, Dillon's, Snapper's. and The Big Chill. The food and atmosphere is wonderful at all of these. The only place we had a truly bad meal was Craig's...we DO NOT recommend it. Robbie's was a fun place to go and rent kayaks and tour the mangrove tunnels and lovely water around there. You can also feed the tarpon and watch the many pelicans vying for food. All in all there is so much to do that we needed another month to take advantage of everything. Craig, the caretaker for this house, is a great guy and so helpful. We really enjoyed getting to know him and his son, James, also. They were so helpful to us in getting to know the shallow waters in the bay off of our canal.

Owner's reply: Susan, We are delighted that you and your party enjoyed your month long stay at our lovely Islamorada house. It sounds as though you were all able to take advantage of the many recreational and fun activities our location has to offer, as well as, the wonderful eateries and entertainment establishments in the area. We appreciate your feedback about the accommodations. Thank you for adding the chip clips and cutting boards to our kitchen. We will keep a close eye on the details while ensuring our kitchen remains well-equipped. If you decide to rent our house again, please keep in mind that we do offer a 10% discount off our advertised rate for returning clients. Again, thank you for taking the time to provide thoughtful feedback about your experience.

“Family Reucation!”

Reviewed 15 Jun 2011

What a wonderful trip and beautiful house. We traveled with four families and this house was perfect. Plenty of room for the children to play and plenty of room for the fishermen too. The house was an ideal location for us. Close to the Gulf and not to long of a boat ride to the Atlantic. The dock space was awesome. We had 2 boats and a jet ski with us and had plenty of room. Not to mention the fishing from the dock was fun for the kids too. The house had plenty of space for our boat trailers and cars. Never did we feel crowded. The pool was FANTASTIC! My little girl really became a fish in that pool and will hold special memories! When can we book again? Julie

“Islamorada Family Reunion”

Reviewed 25 Apr 2011

Perfect house in perfect location for a family reunion. We had 8 adults and 3 children together in this house and had room for 2 more people so space was not an issue. My elderly parents were able to stay in the ground floor apartment which worked out wonderfully for their comfort. I think we spent the entire vacation either in the pool or fishing dockside or grilling at the patio. Never had to leave really to have a good time. But the location was so close to so many activities we managed to have the vacation of a lifetime. Plus the manatees! we had six come visit us at once on the last evening before leaving, just wonderful. The caretaker was very nice and responsive to all our questions. I hope we can come back next year. Thanks for everything! :)

“Great Place!”

Reviewed 15 Apr 2011

Great place right on the water. The pool was great and we got use of it since the weather was pretty warm. We saw the manatees right off the dock and caught a lot of fish! The owners even put together a list of local restaurants and attractions, which made it easy for us to rent a boat, have dinner with views of the sunset and check out some of the more 'touristy' stuff. We are definitely are going back and staying at this house!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

Dear Marina and Joe,

I hope this email finds you both well.

Yes, indeed we did have a wonderful vacation/wedding. I would like to thank you for all your patience and understanding with me. All the hard work paid off and the wedding was absolutely beautiful. Food was wonderful and the weather couldn't have been better if we'd ordered it!!

It's been hard coming back to the 'real' world!! LOL Started back at the school this week and will return to the hospital next. (I'm easing into the 'work' routine)

I want to thank Craig for being right there. You are lucky to have such a good neighbor and manager for your house. He launched the canoe for us to enjoy and volunteered to get it out of the water after our stay. We enjoyed going up and down the canal in it. He is a very nice person.

Also would like to thank you for having such comfortable beds. I usually don't sleep well away from home because of that. I slept like a baby from the first night.

Thank you for giving me and me family such good memories.
