Everything is bigger in Texas, including servings and great eating opportunities. While there are some upscale dining options in Fredericksburg, most places in Hill Country are casual and stop serving between 9 and 10 p.m.
Throughout Texas, hot and spicy is king- and Hill Country is no different. In Texas, BBQ is extremely popular. Texas BBQ sauces in the more traditional restaurants are seasoned heavily with multiple types of peppers, cumin, chili or ancho powder, onions, and have very little tomato and sugar. The also often have a smoky flavor thanks to the meats that are dipped into them. Bottled barbeque sauces are not the same as those used in restaurants as the bottled variety doesn't usually include meat drippings.

Weather in the 25-county region can vary depending on location.
