Description from owner

Our cabin is a 2/2 with a hot tub on the upper deck and a beautiful stream running down below with also a lower deck for listening to the stream or picnics. The cabin is very secluded in the Nantahala Forest with the Bartrum Trail for hiking within 5 minutes walking distance. The Trail will take you to a breathtaking gorge and the Nantahala Dam. Lake Nantahala is about 5 minutes by car from our cabin where you can rent rafts or there is a boat ramp available not far to put your own boat in We have a propane fireplace for those cool nights and a propane gas grill for cooking your favorite steak. The fire pit we have by the stream is very relaxing by the stream and great on those star lit nights with Smores. Come stay at our relaxing cabin and you will leave refreshed!

Beds: 2 Queen Beds

About the area

Fishing is very good for trout, sun fish and bass on the lake or in the nearby rivers which run in the surrounding area. The Nantahala River is great for white water rafting which is available down the mountain about twenty minutes east. Cherokee which is 45 minutes away has a Casino and Museums and a outdoor theatre. Asheville is about two hours away. The nearest town down the mountain is Andrews which has all the necessary needs. Grocery, drug store, resturants and some shopping. Murphy is the next town east and has all your necessary needs as listed above.

“Best Vacation Ever!”

Reviewed 13 Mar 2017

"Best vacation ever!" That's how my kids described it. Debbie and Dave are awesome and make sure their guests have all they need. Beautiful view, nice hot tub, everything you need inside, and a fire pit to roast marshmallows, this place has it all. I highly recommend that anyone who is looking for somewhere to get away contact Debbie right away. It is awesome and we will be back!

“Perfect for Families”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cabin Fever. The cabin was charming and provided everything we needed. After a long day adventuring, it was delightful to come back to a soak in the hot tub or roasting marshmallows around the fire. The deck was cozy for morning coffee and listening to the sounds of the creek. There is a lot to explore nearby and we really enjoyed being away from the hustle and bustle. Thank you for sharing your lovely cabin.

Owner's reply: Thank you so much! We are so happy you enjoyed your stay. Keep us in mind for any future plans you have!

“Quaint cabin”

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cabin Fever. It feels quite homely! The hot tub on the side deck with the view of the fire next and the sound of the creek in the background certainly is enthralling. That alone will have me coming back; not to mention the front porches and nicely stocked kitchen. You won’t be disappointed. I recommend having directions in hand before you hit the road since cell service can be less than optimal. The location is convenient, but it takes some navigating the first time. Thank you Debbie and Dave for opening your home to us. Many blessings.

Owner's reply: Thank you for your nice review! We truly try to make our cabin home away from home. Come back soon!

“Unbelievable find!”

Reviewed 24 Dec 2015

I couldn't believe the price of this cabin per night for everything it offers; it DOES NOT disappoint! We could not get over how nice and comfy our stay was. We went right before Christmas and it was beautifully decorated- Christmas tree and lights on the deck. The double balcony was great; we spent the majority of our time in the hot tub overlooking the stream, on the porch, or sitting in front on the fire. We would highly recommend visiting the Calaboose Cellars in Andrews.

“Another wonderful stay!”

This was our second stay here and everything was perfect. We absolutely love this place, it really feels like home! We hiked the Bartram trail, rented a pontoon boat on Nantahala Lake and explored the antique shops in Andrews. We cooked on the grill almost every night. The hot tub at night under the stars was so relaxing. My favorite part of the week was watching our dog, Cooper, have fun. She loves this place so much, no leash necessary, the stream to play in and all the woods to explore. We couldn't ask for a better cabin experience, and hope to return for another stay soon!

“Cool, Green, and Shady--Perfection”

Cabin Fever was by far the best rental we've ever chosen. The house had everything we could want for preparing meals. The towels were plush and plentiful. Every part of the cabin was well appointed to meet our needs. The master bed was comfortable. Listening to the stream outside the bedroom lulled us to sleep. The hot tub outside our bedroom was by far our favorite location to relax. We had brief rains several days but were able to enjoy the upper covered porch and listen to it patter on the rhododendron surrounding the house. The location was great for day excursions to Fontana, Murphy, Andrews, and Bryson City. Murphy even had an old theater where we enjoyed a matinee one rainy afternoon. We ate lunch at several local restaurants during our excursions out into the world. The owners were very helpful with directions and answering several questions. They provided a wonderful book at the cabin with maps and brochures for planning trips and finding fun activities near the cabin. They were timely with emails and phone calls. We went to relax and enjoy the mountain scenery, however, this cabin is a good location for those who would want to go rafting, fishing, boating, or hiking. It is remote but that was part of the appeal. It's a private and peaceful place for a much needed retreat from the stress of life. We'd love to return again for another special week.

Owner's reply: We are so happy your enjoyed our little piece of paradise! It's always great to hear our renters enjoy our cabin as much as we do! Thank you so much and come back really soon!

“beyond my dreams”

This was the best rental experience I've ever had. The cabin is perfect: spotless and beautiful, very private, and the kitchen is set for cooking real meals. The cabin has every comfort and while remote, all the local recreation is easily accessible with a short drive or walk. We did day long hikes on the Appalachian and Bartram Trails and enjoyed the Jacuzzi every evening. There is a notebook by the fireplace with local history and recreational activities that was helpful is making choices. The Hawleys were really prompt in answering questions, and yesterday I received my security deposit...within a week of our stay. I can't say enough about this cabin and the Nantahala area. I can't wait to go back for another week.

Owner's reply: Thank you Megan! We are so very happy your stay was great! We look forward to your return visit! Happy New Year!

“Super Anniversary Destination!”

We love the Lake Nantahala area and this is a great cabin to stay in and explore what this region has to offer. The owners were responsive and helpful leading up to our arrival. The cabin was well stocked. And it was quiet! We loved our stay!

Owner's reply: So happy you had a great anniversary! We are always happy that customers enjoy our cabin as much as we do! Thank you!!

What a wonderful place to get away from it all! It was a bit tricky to find but Debbie gave us verbal instructions as to it's location. Nestled on a hill beside a small stream made it truly a perfect spot. It was clean & spacious with almost all the amenities. I was a bit disappointed there was no propane canister beneath the grill, but the kitchen took was just fine. Be sure to bring toilet paper as there was barely enough in either bathroom. The Jacuzzi made it so relaxing after dipping your feet into the cold stream outside. The fire pit was fun too for the cool evenings up there. I would consider returning perhaps next year.

Owner's reply: James, So happy you enjoyed our cabin. The propane grill is connected to a huge tank in the yard. This controls the grill as well as the fireplace. There was a lever on the deck beside the grill to turn the gas on and off. So sorry you didn't see this. We truly try to have the cabin as stocked as possible sorry there was not enough toilet tissue. Thank you for letting us know. We truly thank you for your rental!

“Return renters that will return again!”

This was our second stay at this cabin... We stayed once before in December 2011 and talked endlessly about returning for a summertime vacation. Our week at the cabin couldn't have been any better! The location is close enough to the NOC and grocery stores to be convenient, but far enough away to feel private and secluded....perfect! We spent the week whitewater rafting, hiking and swimming. Our dogs enjoyed being off leash and playing in the little swimming hole at the end of road. After long, busy days we enjoyed coming back to the cabin and cooking dinner in the wonderfully furnished kitchen and then relaxing in the hot tub to round out the night. Falling asleep to the sound of the creek right outside the house was the cherry on top. We will assuredly return for a third visit... perhaps a fall visit to enjoy the changing of the leaves!

Owner's reply: We are so thrilled you enjoyed your stay again! We truly look forward to any accommodations you may need in the future. Thank you for the excellent review!
