Good place to stay in the Smokies
Good place to stay in the Smokies
July 20, 2016
Our family found Owl's Hoot Chalet a great place to stay for our week in the Smokies. The three bedrooms worked out well for our family of six adults and the kitchen was well stocked because we generally fixed dinner each evening. Our preference has always been Townsend because for the quiet; access to the Little River and Cades Cove. The house is on a quiet, narrow road very close to the main road of Townsend. The meadow was perfect for our two dogs and place to play Frisbee, volleyball or badminton. The Townsend bike path is also close if you want to walk or bike. Especially for ice cream come evening. Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg are a 30 minute or so drive if you want those activities. The master bed is a deep open loft bedroom so you will hear the sounds from the living room but this was no issue for us. Master bath is large with Jacuzzi tub only. Beds were quite comfortable with good towels and linens. The gated decks and gazebo also provide dog and child security with plenty of room to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We had three vehicles and there was plenty of room for parking in a level area. We highly recommend this lodging and would definitely return for another visit.

Hi everyone reading this review. I want to be upfront and say that my wife is related by a relative's marriage to the owner. Regardless, I would not post this review unless I believed in it. The purpose of this review is to not describe the property. (The property is well and accurately described in the property's listing. Owl's Hoot is very well appointed. I would add that in addition to the kitchen there is a charcoal grill in the gazebo large enough to grill about 12 to 15 burgers at a time.) Rather, dear reader, it is to describe the experience of a stay at Owl's Hoot. The chalet is situated on a narrow two way paved road into a hollow that dead-ends about 200 yards past the chalet. So, road traffic is minimal. It faces a large meadow that is kept mowed, and is an untrampled and lovely open green space. Across the meadow is a thick cove of trees that climb the hollow's side. The overall appearance of the chalet's surroundings is very peaceful, verdant and bucolic. I have enjoyed staying at Owl's Hoot many times, and on each occasion it remains a special happy place for me and my family where we recharge, renew, and increase the family narrative of joy, love, connection and fellowship. It is a place where the sublime beauty of nature coupled with the convenience of a beautiful and fully equipped chalet washes away the numbing stress and tumult of "the real world", restores the soul, and reorients the compass of the mind and heart toward what is important and needed. Blessings to all who share this unique and beautiful place.

Our week at Owls Hoot came to an end today. While there is no place like home, Owls Hoot is pretty dang close.
We all loved it, everything about it. Only place we will want to stay when we go to mountains.

Was so excited to come to Owl's Hoot for Memorial Day weekend. Due to an unforeseen circumstance( busted water pipe) was unable to stay the first two nights. We love Owl's Hoot and was so disappointed . However Rob and Myra worked very hard to find us a place to stay for those two nights. Rob worked for 2 days tirelessly to get the place ready for us to stay. Was so excited to gat the call that we could stay the next 2 1/2 days! Thank you for working so hard. We really enjoyed our time there and will definitely be back sometime in the fall!

We had a wonderful stay at Owls Hoot Chalet! We loved everything about it... Beautiful view & landscaping, big enclosed porches, fully furnished, big place for our 4-legged kid to play & throw a frisbee... creek & field. Rob & Myra have a great place for families & friends to stay in beautiful Townsend TN. It's close the town with lots to do around there. Thanks for an awesome place to rent, it felt like home! We are already booked up for next year!! This place is a must!!

Stayed here for a long New Years weekend with a few girlfriends friends and it was wonderful! We kept a fire going inside all weekend, and ate and relaxed. The kitchen had all the tools to cook a gourmet meal, and the beds were comfortable. The weather was warm enough in the afternoon to relax out on the back porch and walk through the meadow. The morning sun woke us up gently through the floor to ceiling windows, along with a very friendly cardinal that taps on the kitchen window sometimes. The cabin was so close to the Smokies so we to a day hike and ate some really good barbeque down the road on the way back. The place was very clean, and stocked with firewood, clean linens, some music and books. Will absolutely go back for another girls weekend.

Owl's Hoot is a perfect retreat for a couple, family, or weekend with friends. We love that it's so close to great hiking, river tubing, and only a short drive down to the Hiwassee or Ocoee for white water. The meadow is a wonderful place for kids to play. The place is quaint, clean, and has everything you could possibly need for cooking and comfort. The owners are friendly and attentive, and the large deck is a perfect place for dining outside or enjoying your morning coffee in your pajamas.

Tranquil & Filled With Light
I was impressed by Owl's Hoot and it's giant windows, which allow the light to stream in and gives an air of warmth to the whole space. This was the first thing I noticed when I walked in. It had comfortable, well appointed bedrooms and adequate kitchen appliances, but more importantly - it has character and charm. It's a tranquil location, no outside noises were heard during our stay - and the creek and meadow which run in front of the house are a great place for reflection and relaxation. I particularly enjoyed the giant wrap around deck, where I drank my coffee and enjoyed the stillness. The owner is wonderful and kind, the cabin was clean and well maintained, and it is directly off the main road leading through Townsend, so it is close to amenities, and very convenient to the National Park. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for a nicely appointed, relaxing getaway in the Smoky Mountains!

Perfect Place to Relax
Our first visit to Owl's Hoot - wonderful cabin and great view. Perfect place to relax and visit with family. Enjoyed the gazebo and our granddaughter loved the meadow. Rained a lot but we managed to play lots of games. It was nice to have a pet friendly place to stay. Our daughter's dog loved it here and could be outside on the enclosed deck and run in the meadow. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are ok to visit, but some of us like the quiet, peaceful places, too. We hope to come back again and stay at Owl's Hoot!

Place of Peace
Your cabin is beautifully situated, comfortable, and peaceful. Our family celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary here and it provided the perfect place for us to be together and have fun away from the distractions of everyone's jobs. Thank you for opening your "place of peace" to us and our family.

Relaxation at its Best!
Owl's Hoot is one of those places where we go to sink into relaxation. Our whole family enjoys being there; we especially love the large deck and the meadow. We have enjoyed many visits over the years, and the owners continue to make improvements with the comfort of their guests in mind. No matter what the weather, the huge windows and open floor plan makes you feel like you're part of the outdoors. The pavilion with its bench swing is a lovely place to enjoy a rainy day. No matter what the season, Owl's Hoot is a great place to be.

Amazing little piece of heaven
This has been the best weekend in a long time. We decided to bring our “empty nest” children, Bell and Peanut. They, I mean us, needed to escape the world for a few days. We have been to the mountains several times. This [Owl’s Hoot Chalet] is our favorite cabin ever. The dogs had a great time with the squirrels. Not so sure the squirrels feel the same. I am pretty sure they will have a party when we leave. As for us, we will miss this place, so quiet and peaceful. I am glad that spring has decided not to show up. The fore and rocking chair life doesn’t get any better. We are definitely going to come back. Thank you for sharing your house with us.

I have stayed in many vacation rentals, but Owl's Hoot Chalet tops them all. As soon as I walked in the door, I felt as if I were staying in someone's home - not just a rental. The decorations were lovely, and Myra has included so many amenities tha are usually not included in a rental home. Paper towels, dishwashing liquid, toilet paper, napkins, hand soap, starter coffee & cream, etc. The kitchen was very well stocked. Don't worry if you forget to bring a book to read - just go to the bookshelf and choose one. The deck and gazebo are lovely and had it been a little warmer, I would have spent most of my time there. The grandkids loved the babbling brook that goes right by the cabin as well as the very large meadow they could run and play in. In fact, they decided they wanted to stay at the cabin rather than go to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg. If you're not sure what to do on the "quiet side of the Smokies", just look at the notebook that myra has put together with all of the information you will need from activities in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg to local restaurants. Lastly, I loved that the cabin was only 1/4 mile from the main road. We had all of the quiet and seclusion we needed, yet had easy access to the local IGA, horseback riding places, Cades Cove, etc. We are already planning a trip back in the fall.

A Heavenly Retreat
My wife and I stayed at the Owl's Hoot Cabin to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. The plans for the weekend were pretty simple: relax. The beautiful meadow and fantastic mountain weather aided us in achieving our goal. The cabin itself definitely provides the "mountain cabin" feeling and it's simple furnishings are incredibly comfortable. The peace and quiet was only broken by the occasional car passing. I highly recommend the cabin for relaxing weekends or as a convenient base for exploring the Smoky Mountains. The space can be comfortably consumed by 2 or even handle 8 without a problem. I am already making plans to celebrate my upcoming 30th birthday at the cabin. A decade milestone deserves a weekend celebration to go with it.

Peaceful Side of the Mountain
The chalet was a very nice place. The end of May had perfect weather. The sound of the little creek as it rippled through the backyard was very relaxing. Our dogs loved going for a walk in the meadow every morning. We enjoyed the loft bedroom and the huge windows. Mostly we enjoyed all the wrap-around decking, not only around the house, but also through the woods, one path leading to the meadow, and the other leading to the extra pavilion. Nearby we drove the Foothills Parkway, the least travelled and most scenic highway along the mountain ridges. We stayed away from the tourist areas, but they are very near if that's what you like to do. Also near there was the dragon tail highway, which had over a hundred curves. We were happy with everything in the chalet, and our deposit was returned in a timely manner.

Pictures & Descriptions are 100 % accurate...
...One exception being that the meadow is attached to a mountain on the opposite side of the deck. This was a wonderful surprise. Location is 1/3 mile from Route 321 and you did not know it. Myself and my four sisters had more than enough "space" and our biggest necessity, R & R, was achieved by day two. The only disruption to the peace & quiet was the thunderstorms which we loved (okay so maybe not the one at 3 am). We will recommend this property to everyone we know. Myra, once again thank you for sharing with us your wonderful cabin.

The Perfect Getaway
We wanted a place to getaway during fall break and Owl's Hoot was absolutely perfect! Even though it was only 30 minutes away from our house, we felt as if we were hours away from home. We took our two small dogs and I don't know who enjoyed it more, me and my husband, or Bella and Sampson! We sat in the Adirondack chairs in the meadow and just soaked in the peace and quiet while the dogs chased squirrels and played. The cabin is comfortable and filled with an eclectic collection of antiques and decor. An unexpected touch was the complimentary Vienna coffee and special bath soaps, lotion, and shampoo. The kitchen was very well stocked, including a placemat and bowls for the dogs. The only thing missing from Owl's Hoot is a fire pit, it would be great for the cool evenings!! We look forward to our next visit to Owl's Hoot. Thanks Myra for sharing your "little piece of heaven". The Fields, Maryville, TN

We really enjoyed every moment of our stay at Owl's Hoot Cabin. The owners have thought of everything you might. Plenty of good books to check out, a great selection of things to ideas of things to do in the area. You will also have menus from all the restaurants in the area. The kitchen is very well stocked. You well have everything you might need. You will also find paper towels, spices provided. Beds were all comfortable and furniture was all in great condition and comfortable. Large kitchen working area to enjoy. Great walking areas in the meadow and close by as well. We enjoyed coffee in the Pavilion several mornings. You will love this cabin. It feels more like you are at home than in a rental. We are planning to return soon.

Great vacation cabin
Thank you for making our vacation even more comfortable by greeting us with an extra clean cabin. We stayed there last year and it was nice as I had always wanted to rent the cabin but it wasn't as clean as it could have been. Your choice to change management of the cabin was a good one. The cabin is located on our favorite road with easy access but still close to town. My nephew and his family along with family stayed there very comfortably. It is nicely decorated and plenty of linens were provided. We love the meadow and gazebo and sat out there while allowing the kids to run and play. Plans will be to return again next year. I guess my only recommendation would be to add back the mirror at the top of the drive to exit safely. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to rent a cabin in the Townsend area.

Perfection in the Smokies
Owl's Hoot is a home away from home, lovingly cared for by the owners, not just a rental property. The chalet is beautiful, the setting overlooking a meadow is wonderful. Our family has had many repeat visits to Owl's Hoot- I would recommend a stay here to everyone. We had three generations this visit and everyone wants to return- Our trips are described as "going to Owl's Hoot". The area has plenty of activities for those who want more action or you can just enjoy the chalet and the peaceful setting. The owners care deeply about their home and it shows-it is very clean, well maintained, area info is nicely organized in binders and there is a wealth of information about local flora and fauna. Owl's Hoot-the perfect Home away from Home!

Wonderful, Relaxing, and Peaceful
We were so impressed as soon as we drove up to Owl’s Hoot. We were only 1/3 mile from the highway but it was so quiet and peaceful. The wrap around deck was wonderful and branched out to the gazebo with a bench swing. It also went across the creek into a large field which was perfect for our dog to run and play. Inside it had the huge windows that brought in the warm morning sun. The couches and beds were very comfortable. It was great to have several pots and pans to cook in the kitchen and there were seasonings and extra food items which was nice to have. The Jacuzzi tub was huge and had a fantastic skylight directly above. They had something for everyone at Owl’s Hoot. Inside was stocked with books, games, TV/DVD player, and even a football and other balls to play outside with. We really enjoyed relaxing in the lounge chairs across the creek while our dog ran through the field. At night when it got cold, there was wood well stocked for the fireplace, which added more comfort and relaxation to our visit. We can’t wait to go back to Owl’s Hoot and would recommend anyone to share our experience.

Cleanest Rental Home!
We just wanted to let you know that we enjoyed our stay at the Owl's Hoot! It was the cleanest home we have ever stayed in. We loved the outdoor spaces. We hope to return in the fall. We liked the fact that you had simple rules that were easy to follow. The last home we stayed in had notes all over the house saying, don't do this, don't do that, plus we had to take our garbage to a dump that wasn't open when we left at 6 am! So we ended up bringing our garbage back to IL! We treat the rental homes as our own and leave them the way we find them. We ... really enjoyed working with you.

Great location, comfortable and relaxing
We stayed 4 nights and loved it. Convenient for Townsend and the Smokies National Park but tucked away in a peaceful rural setting. We enjoyed the NP (the scenery: trees, Little River and the walking trails) and the Heritage Museum in Townsend was very interesting. We also spent hours watching and identifying birds at Owl's Hoot and enjoyed the antics of squirrels and a cheerful little chipmunk. Everything we needed in the chalet. Would certainly recommend it.

Bindi and Dad loved it
I just wanted to take a minute to tell you about our stay. First of all, It was everything you said and more! We absolutely loved it. My dad was in heaven and to this day, has not stopped talking about it. He wants to go back in the fall but I’m not sure I will be able to get the time off. Bindi loved it too. We took long walks and she couldn’t get enough of the smells. We walked down the road a long way and looked at the cabins and walked the whole field many times. I wish there would have been water in the creek. You guys must be having a drought. The weather couldn’t have been better while we were there. When we would have to leave bindi there, we would shut all the gates on the deck to get out and let her stay on the decking and she could go to the gazebo too. My dad loved being on the deck with Bindi and watching the bird feeders. We went to the Hatfield and McCoy show and the aquarium with dad and every night we would drive through Cades Cove looking for bears, which dad has never seen. We saw tons of deer really close and wild turkey and even a coyote up close but no bear. Well, on the last night we asked Dad to go through one more time and he agreed. Sure enough, a mama bear and her 3 little cubs came right up to the road and stood there right beside us. My dad was just blown away. He keeps telling me it was the best week of his life. I just want you to know that you have played a part in that! When we got there, I knew I wanted to spread some of moms ashes around but not sure where until my husband showed me the beautiful spot where you have the PEACE stone and the rock with the wonderful saying about those who have passed. It was the most perfect spot and I hope you don’t mind, but my mom now rests there and will forever be with your mom. I read the article on the frig and fell in love with her. She was sparky wasn’t she? We also went over the mountain to Cherokee and put mom at the top as well. I can’t thank you enough for allowing us to have this time in your cabin with my dad and Bindi. Feel free to share my feedback or if anyone ever wants a reference I would be glad to tell them my story. Thank you again and God Bless you and your family, Lori

Home Away From Home
Owl's Hoot is more then a vacation rental, it is a home away from home. It had everything we needed and more. It was, by far, the best family vacation we have had. We look forward to staying at Owl's Hoot again. There were 5 of us, ranging from 1 1/2 year old to 60. Each of us enjoyed the stay and had plenty to enjoy in our down time, as well as plenty of space. The amount of fire flies in the evening was astonishing. The tree's were beautiful. I really cannot say enough about Owl's Hoot.

This is a HOME with all the amenities!
This was, by far, our best rental ever. The Owl's Hoot chalet is located in the town of Townsend, TN also known as the "quiet side of the Smokies." What a peaceful, perfect place. The house is on a little road just off the main strip. It is secluded from the view of neighbors and traffic just on the side of a foothill, but it is a minute's drive from gas stations, grocery and a few worthy restaurants. It is only a couple of miles to Cade's Cove from the chalet. The owner's pictures are very accurate. We loved the above and beyond qualities of this home. Quality mattresses with full allergen and bedbug free casings on them all, sheets and towels provided, jacuzzi tub, fully stocked workable kitchen, travel books and guides of the area galore, games, books, movies, three televisions with cable access and DVDs, multiple decks with furnishings, leather sofas, multiple dining tables, etc. etc. The owners even supplied some high quality toiletries in addition to washing soaps and laundry soaps. This is a HOME NOT a RENTAL!

When we first arrived, we were greeted by towering trees, of brilliant green, framed like a landscape painting, from floor to the cathedral celing windows of the living/dinning room area of the cabin. The kitchen is also set up in such a way that this lovely view can be enjoyed while preparing a home cooked meal. The cabin was quite comfortable; cozy touches and spacious enough for our family to relax and feel right at home. My children had a ball in the large meadow/yard, playing on the rope swing and racing one another to the edge of the trees and back. I would absolutely stay at Owl's Hoot once again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all and enjoy the peace, quiet and beauty of nature.

Love the Cabin and the Gazebo!!!
We have stayed in alot of nice cabins, but my husband and I decided that this one is one of our favorites! We loved the huge windows and just the layout of the kitchen and living room area. The gazebo was great for relaxing and grilling out. The huge field behind the cabin was fun for playing a little football! Of great importance, it was clean and was well stocked. We loved being able to walk down to Townsend's bike and walking trail. Also, please eat at The Black Bear Cafe, Riverstone, and Burgermaster. Great Food! Also, a side note. One of our children had left their watch on their bed. The housekeeper texted me to let me know it was there, and we picked it up. We really appreciated that! We will definitely stay there again!!

Absolutely wonderful stay!
The cabin is beautiful and so very well maintained. It has Everything you need to relax and entertain adults or children. The wrap around deck is wonderful for coffee, apple cider or simply enjoying the view. Great location to everything on the "quiet side" of the mountain or day trips to the other side of the mountain. Owner so nice and accommodating. Will definitely be returning.

Our stay at the Chalet was great.
The Owl's Hoot Chalet was a perfect getaway for us. Very clean inside and well appointed. Everything listed was available. Very quiet with little traffic noise. Would have liked a view of the surrounding mountains but this was a small item of contention. We ate at Smokin' Joes BBQ, the Back Porch, and Little River BBQ while there. All served delicious food. Side trips to Great Smoky Mtns NP and Maryville, TN were enjoyable. Our stay was very relaxing - just what we needed. Will definitely recommend to friends and family. Thanks for everything!!!!!!

Great location! Beautiful setting easily enjoyed from inside, large deck, or gazebo. Comfortable and family friendly with lots of amenities. Owners were very accommodating in making certain we had everything we needed including bringing in additional firewood for an unexpected cold snap. Perfect for our family get-together. Four year old granddaughter wants to know when we can do this again!

One of our best stays in Townsend
Owl's Hoot was in a very good location not far from the main highway and restaurants without forfeiting the mountain-cabin feel. The cabin was very clean and well-maintained with a wonderful scenic view of the trees and meadow. I would definitely recommend the cabin to others for a wonderful, relaxing stay.

Cozy Cabin, Conveniently located
Townsend is a great little town... quiet, good restaurants (Miss Lilys and Riverstone), close to Cades Cove. Gatlinburg and Pidgeon Forge are a short drive away and offer plenty of activities. Owl's Hoot was perfect. Very clean and well maintained. Received timely emails from management with pertinent information. We certainly enjoyed our stay, it was just to short. Already we are planning next year's trip to the same cabin!

We enjoy staying at the Owl's Hoot Chalet.
The Owl's Hoot is one of the cleanest homes we have stayed in. It is very close to the main road, but yet it is quiet and peaceful. It is also close to a grocery store, restaurants, winery, The Smokey Mtn. Park entrance and it is only a short drive into Pigeon Forge, etc. A short walk from the house is the walking path that goes into Townsend or along the Little River. The owners of the home are wonderful to work with. They were eager to answer all of our questions and they have simple renting rules that are easy to follow.

This was our second stay at Owl's Hoot and we enjoyed it just as much this trip as the first. The home is just lovely and we found it very peaceful. Our four-legged kids enjoyed the area to run. Everything was as promised and I have recommended the cabin to friends. Thank you for allowing us (our pets too) to enjoy this lovely cabin and a most beautiful setting.

Beautiful restful spot in the mountains!
Owl's Hoot is a wonderful place to relax and forget the "outside world". It is close to excellent trout fishing, hiking, and Cade's Cove. Everything you need to be cozy is in this cabin. The kitchen is fully furnished. Wood is available for the fireplace. Lots of extras such as books, games, etc. are provided for your use. The meadow behind the cabin is a great place to picnic, walk, read a book, or just relax. The creek which winds through the property adds to the beauty. If you want to relax and unwind, there is not a better place to be than Owl's Hoot!

A Quiet Hideway for a Bridge Retreat
This remarkable setting was the perfect spot for our bridge getaway. Within an hour of leaving Knoxville we found ourselves settled and enjoying lunch on the deck. All the amenities we needed were there including many thoughtful extras. We played games at night by a quiet fire and during the day enjoyed quiet walks, bird watching and many hours of bridge. This is the perfect spot for a retreat and we all hope to return.

Relaxing!! Very Clean & cozy!!
Absolutely fell in love with Owl's Hoot!! Very clean, cozy and tastefully decorated. They pay great attention to detail. Very thoughtful even down to the little things. Had the most relaxing weekend, yet we were close to all the fun activities. We will definitely be back!!!

This is the second time I have stayed at Owl's Hoot, and it will not be the last! This cabin has all the amenities you need including coffee packets from the Vienna Coffee Co. In Maryville. Well worth a trip to their coffee shop! I love the closeness of the cabin to the main road, but it seems as if you are very secluded. Comfortable beds, lovely decorations, and great attention to detail make this cabin a place you want to come back to. My favorite spot is sitting in the Adirondack chair in the meadow by the stream sipping my coffee. Absolute total relaxation! Lastly, the owners are wonderful to work with.

Gorgeous and Relaxing Home, Immersed in Nature
We stayed at the Owl's Hoot with our three small children, 5,3,1.5 over Spring Break this year. We wanted a comfortable home with property to explore and enjoy, that was also convenient to the Smoky Mountains National Park and access to stores, restaurants, etc. The Owl's Hoot was all of this and more! It felt homey, had everything we needed, everything was comfortable and clean. The items decorating the cabin are interesting and unique -- not just a vacation rental, but a true home to the owners and the many people with which they share their home. (My 1.5 year old learned the world OWL on our trip, because they are used everywhere in the décor!) The outside areas of the home are just paradise -- a large deck, a raised gazebo-type area, both with dining tables and chairs, and bird feeders to attract local birds. Our kids' favorite aspects of the property were the little creek running through, and the large meadow filled with wildflowers that they got to explore. We loved watching our kids enjoy this slice of peaceful, pastoral living, and have good old-fashioned fun. We would definitely stay there again! I recommend this property to families, couples sharing a home on vacation, a romantic weekend, or nature-lovers looking to observe birds and wildlife from their living room and deck!

A great place to stay in Townsend
We were extremely impressed with this rental cabin and adjoining grounds. We were attending the Wildflower Pilgrimage in Gatlinburg and love staying in the Townsend area. It met our needs well and was so convenient . Parking was a snap with plenty of room. The place was very nicely decorated and very clean. I would rate it tops and hope to book it again next year in the spring. Nixon Soddy Daisy, TN. 4-30-2015

Beautiful Chalet-a Great Get-away!
This chalet is absolutely beautiful, peaceful, secluded and comfortable. My friends and I have visited the Smoky's for many years staying in Townsend and Owl's Hoot has it all. We especially enjoyed the wild flowers, deck and feeding and watching the birds. There were several of us that needed an easy access due to knee and other challenges so it was nice to be able to walk right in with plenty of bed space on the first floor. I am sure that we will again visit Owl's Hoot again.

A Magical Place in Townsend!
I have had the pleasure of staying at the Owl's Hoot Chalet in Townsend, TN several times and each time I go there I realize what a truly magical place it is! From the beautiful and homey furnishings to the spectacular outdoor surroundings, this place provides such a peaceful and comfortable get-a-away. I especially enjoy that it is secluded and has lots of outside features such as a wonderful wrap around deck, gazebo with seating and grilling area, a meadow and creek that flows through the property. The chalet is also very close to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which is a majestic place I always enjoy spending time. I look forward to my next stay at the Owl's Hoot Chalet!

Looking for a dog friendly vacation look here.
If you are vacationing with your dog don't miss this cabin. The cleanest cabin I have ever rented. Plenty of room to enjoy inside and outside. The owner, maintenance man, and the housekeeper work hard to make sure your stay is wonderful. Our dogs enjoyed running on the porches and there is a lot of porches. The meadow is like another world for them. A lot of great places to eat within walking distance. If you ride bicycles you will find awesome paved bike paths all thru the whole area and never get on the highway. Thanks for renting this great cabin.

The perfect getaway in the Smokies
Quiet side of the Smokies and the comfort of home. The cabin was the perfect place to getaway from it all! Townsend certainly isn't the hustle of a tourist destination but there are small cafes, restaurants, shops, tubing, and the "big cities" of Maryville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg are just scenic drives away. The cabin itself is very accommodating on a quiet road with plenty of space and all the comforts of home though we enjoyed the patio and the gazebo the most. As our furry pets were with us, they enjoyed the meadow to run and we enjoyed being able to allow them the excercise that they need (see wear them out). Had we not had beatiful weather for our week away, we would have enjoyed being indoors playing games, watching tv, relaxing in the large jacuzzi tub, cooking, staring at the wildlife through the large back windows, or possibly reading by the fire. If you're looking to just getaway from it all and relax, it's perfect!

Good location, quiet, and great outdoor space.
PROS: Pretty spacious cabin that is nicely located close to the main road and attractions but still secluded and quiet. Great decks and covered gazebo and the kids loved to run and play in the meadow. The decks and walkways had access gates everywhere that are great if you need to keep kids/pets corralled. CONS: Listing stated satellite/cable TV but all they had was something called ROKU (that locked up on us about every 10 minutes). All we could watch was old TV episodes of not-so-good shows or 20 year old movies...no live TV. We certainly don't go to the Smokies to watch TV but after a day of exploring it's nice to get a little news and catch up on our favorite sports teams. Also, with 2 & 5 year old boys we spend a considerable amount of time looking for lost toys and with that we find ALL the places that haven't been dusted in a very long time. I would certainly not say the cabin was dirty, but it sure could use a good dusting.

Once again, a wonderful get-away (we've stayed here before and plan to again)! Very well maintained, peaceful, close to the main drag, and near to what we've come to know and enjoy. Thanks Myra and Rob for a great stay.

We spend Thanksgiving in Townsend every year. As our family has expanded, we have needed to find a bigger place. Owls Hoot met our needs. The cabin was clean and well stocked with about anything you need from supplies to games. The location is wonderful up Black mash Hollow. You really can't beat this cabin for the location, price and the amenities.

We really enjoyed everything. It's a beautiful place
You could tell the property is very well maintained..Everything was spotless. The tubs were shining. The pots & pans were shining. We did have problems on the steps .too slick going to the loft in our stocking feet. Guess we needed our house shoes. We would love to come back in the summer. We love it. Yes, I would recommend it. A lot of my relatives said they might want to rent it.

FAMILY CHRISTMAS-ABSOLUTELY AMAZING PLACE
Owl's Hoot Chalet is the most beautiful amazing place in Townsend, TN. It has everything that you can imagine to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Too many extras to mention. The loft bedroom was the perfect place for my daughter that has the baby and other kids. We cooked and played games. It was perfect. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful place with us. We will be back.

Wonderful winter getaway!
We stayed at Owl's Hoot the week after Christmas and rang in New Year's at this cozy cabin. The listing is accurate. The property is well-maintained. Customer service and communication were perfect. Everything you need for relaxation is available in the cabin and on the grounds. There is a comfortable gazebo with table, chairs, swing, and a charcoal grill. There is a spacious deck with comfortable seating and bird feeders. The cabin overlooks a beautiful meadow with a creek. Comfortable outdoor furniture is provided by the creek. My most relaxing moments were spent reading a book outside by the creek. We also walked the dogs down the meadow to a swing where we could sit and they could play. We were lucky with wonderful warm weather for December and the creek was flowing beautifully. I could read, listen to the creek, and let the dogs enjoy the beautiful outdoors. We also enjoyed nights by the fireplace. There is everything you need in the kitchen to prepare meals if you choose. Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge are both close enough to visit as often as you choose. We went to Dollywood one night to see the Christmas lights and Gatlinburg for a day of shopping. Townsend has some wonderful home cooked meals in their restaurants and shopping is also an option. We spent many evenings driving through Cades Cove which is only a short distance. It is a beautiful drive through the Smoky Mountain National Park. I would encourage anyone that is visiting this area to stay in this wonderful cabin! The hospitality provided by the owners is second to none! We stay at the Owl's Hoot or at Hideaway on the Creek (a smaller cabin that is every bit as perfect owned by the same wonderful people) every time we go to Townsend.
