About the area

Located in Tuckasegee at an elevation of 2800', between the towns of Cashiers and Sylva. Private but close to Western Carolina University and shopping. This home is within 30 minutes of Dillsboro, Waynesville, Smoky Mtn. National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway and Ski Resorts. Come visit this Smoky Mountain home where you can be away from it all and close to so much--hiking, fishing, golfing, white-water rafting, tubing, skiing, antiquing, shopping, dining, gambling. Our favorite day trip for Foodies, Antique shoppers and everyone else is Asheville, NC. It has many great independent restaurants to enjoy. The downtown area is a great place to start a tour of Asheville with unique shops and great window shopping as well as many restaurant choices. About an hours drive east of the Cedar Cliff Lake House - with lots of beautiful scenery along the way. The closest Blue Ridge Parkway entrance is on the way to Asheville (off US 74E) about 30 minutes away. 431.0: Haywood-Jackson Overlook. 1 1/2 mile selfguided loop trail, of moderate difficulty, to summit of Richland Balsam. 431.4: Richland Balsam Overlook. Highest point on Blue Ridge Parkway motor road. Alt. 6,047. 443.1: Balsam Gap. US 74-23 Crossover. East 7 mi. to Waynesville, west 12 mi. to Sylva. 451.2: Waterrock Knob Parking Overlook. Visitor Information Center, Comfort Station. 4-State view including fine panorama of the Great Smoky Mountains. Trail, with pedestrian overlooks, to the Knob.

“May Retreat”

Reviewed 7 May 2013

I found the accommodations to be just what we needed. The cottage was neat and clean, beautifully decorated and ready for our arrival. The owners were gracious in working out the details of our stay, particularly being flexible in regards to our animals. The view of the river was breathtaking. I would stay there again and would recommend it to others.

My husband and 3 friends thought the house was very comfortable. Some bedrooms are small, one is in a loft- but they were perfectly happy. The rental process was smooth and personal, the house was clean, porch great- and best of all- right on the delayed harvest part of the Tuck. Will return!
