Things to Do in Turkey Point, Ontario
Located on the north shore of Lake Erie in Ontario, Canada, Turkey Point offers visitors a wealth of outdoor adventures, from fishing for bass on Long Point Bay to hiking through Turkey Point Conservation Area. Summer months attract visitors to this small beach community, where sandy beaches provide a relaxing retreat by the lake. Whether renting a lakeside cottage or camping near Big Creek, visitors to Turkey Point will find an abundance of natural wonders in this Canadian vacation destination. Here are some of the events that are available for you.

Swimming
The beach is located in the village and stretches over two kilometers. It can be accessed at the main parking lot as well as two other access points. There is also free street parking outside the parking lot. The beach is very sandy and safe for swimmers, especially children. There are no life guards posted so parents and guardians must be responsible. The swimming area at the main parking lot is also marked by a buoy line to keep swimmers and boaters at a safe distance from one another. The water is generally warm with a sandy bottom and there is no undertow. Personal Floatation Devices (PFDs) are available (with a small refundable deposit) from the parking lot entrance.

Fishing
Visitors can fish from shore at the break wall adjacent to the marina at the south end of Turkey Point. For those that have boats or wish to rent them from the marina, the fishing on Long Point Bay is excellent for bass and perch.

Golf
Turkey Point boasts its own nine-hole golf course, plus an 18-hole golf course just outside of town. Located on the shores of Lake Erie, Turkey Point Golf Club offers scenic par 3s, par 4s and par 5s ideal for beginners. Featuring dramatic, forested terrain and elevations changes, Pine Valley Golf Club boasts the infamous 5th-hole green bordered on both sides by water. The club includes an air-conditioned lounge open daily from morning until dusk.

Hiking
Nature trails in Turkey Point give hikers the opportunity to learn about the natural history of the area, which includes marshes, bluffs and oak savanna. A self-guided interpretive trail, Bluff Lookout Trail leads to a bluff that overlooks the village of Turkey Point and Long Point Bay. The Fin and Feather Trail leads to a red-pine plantation and fish culture station, while the Rainbow Ridge Trail enables you to explore the ecology of the area's marsh and woodland.

Boating Activities
The largest freshwater marina in Canada, MacDonald Turkey Point Marina offers 750 boat slips, convenience store, family restaurant, washrooms and showers. Visitors can rent a pontoon boat or wave runner from Turkey Point Watersports and cruise along the coastline of Long Point Bay, visit the natural wonders of Pottahawk Island or dock in the small towns of Port Dover and Port Rowan.
