Area Information
The coastal region of Georgia has a relatively moderate climate. Average temperatures of the islands are slightly lower than on the mainland. Sea breezes offer relief from intense summer heat. Daily maximum temperatures in July and August (the warmest months) are usually in the 80s and low 90s. The islands are the only part of the state south of Atlanta that has mean daily maximum temperatures below 90°F in July and August (Carter 1967).

Winters are relatively mild and short. The average minimum temperature for December and January (the coldest months) is about 43°F. On the average, there are 305 freeze-free days at Brunswick and 267 at Savannah (Carter 1967)
Tybee Island is a unique small coastal barrier island only 11 miles east of Savannah, GA. The origin of the unusual name of "Tybee" is in itself a legend. Native Americans came to the island to hunt and fish, and gave it the name Tybee, which is a Euchee Indian word meaning "salt."
Approximately 2,500 locals call Tybee home with the summer population swelling to 8,000 at times. Tybee has many restaurants - from fine dining to favorites with a more casual atmosphere. Our rental packet will include our personal favorites.
Beach lovers from all over the world come to the Tybee Island beaches, Lighthouse, Marine Science center, Museums, Fort Screven and nearby Fort Pulaski.

Tybee Island's history is reflected by theLighthouse, constructed in 1739. The structure, which stands today is 154 feet high.
Numerous historic attractions on or near the island range from Fort Pulaski National Monument, Fort Pulaski was a Civil War - era fort and is now operated by the National Park Service, to the famous Savannah Historic District, located west of Tybee Island.
Come and explore the island's newest addition, the Tybee Pier and Pavilion, located on the strand between 15th and Tybrisa streets.

Tybee is a peaceful 15 minute drive over the marsh from historic Savannah, GA. Savannah is the setting for the popular novel, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."
From 1897 to 1947, Fort Screven was an integral part of America's coastal defense system. Troops trained and stood guard on Tybee Island throughout the Spanish-American War of 1898, World War I, and World War II. In 1947 the Fort was closed and sold to the town of Tybee.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

My wife and I didn't get a chance to leave a note about your Villa but wanted
to make sure you knew we had a wonderful time. The resetting of the #1
switch a few times worked but you should still have an electrician come out
and check why it keeps tripping. The sliding glass door is a challenge but it
kept the grandchild from walking out to play superman.

We couldn't have asked for better weather. The sunrise was perfect and at
night the stars were beautiful. I wish I studied more about them in school. My
wife went crazy over the decor you all did a great job. I would highly
recommend these accommodations to anyone.

Thanks again
John and Maureen
Thanks for info on electrical. Will have electrician come back to check.

Where to begin??? The Villa is absolutely wonderful and makes you feel at home immediately. The decor is a time capsule for all ages. We were blessed with great weather but even if it rained it would not stop me from having a good time. The convenience of being on the beach is perfectly made for the person who wants to save their energy for walking on the beach not getting to the beach. Sting Rays has great wings and good oyster stew. Crab Shack worth the visit especially for the kids. Food is good. Brought my medal detector and found about $3 in coins no jewelery or spanish gold. Its a big island so there is hope!!!!
We are now looking at the pictures and wish we were back there right now.

Great Time!!!!

Hi Lauren, just wanted to drop you a line to say how much my family and I
enjoyed our stay at your beach house August 4th - 11th. As soon as we
arrived, my children started thanking my wife and I for choosing such a neat
house to stay in and it was so near the beach. I especially want to thank you
for the brand of towels that you provide (towels made by 1888 Mills). I work
for 1888 Mills and I was thrilled to see that you use our towel products. I
head up our testing lab & research and development. I don't know if you buy
from us direct or go through a middle-man, but if you ever need towels
please contact me and I will see if I can get you towels at a reduced price. We
look forward to our next vacation at Tybee Island.

Your friends,

THE most relaxing vacation we've had to date! Our family of 5 LOVED this home and Tybee Island. Sally was great when we lost power (the whole island, during a storm), bringing over flashlights and candles. The island is laid back and non-commercial, with beautiful beaches. My Art & Sol was clean, well-equiped, and funky-retro. It truly did feel like we were transported back to the golden days of 30's travel...but w/all the modern amenities!

Hi Kim
So glad you had a great time at My Art and Sol.
Sally and I appreciate the wonderful comments.
Come back soon.
Yep, one time a squirrel chewed through the main line and another time a barge hit it.
Oh, well. That's life on an island.

My Sea Esta! Wow - what a wonderful place! We had 10 people - 8 adults and 2 children, and we couldn't have had a better time. The house is wonderful, the beach so close - the beach cart is invaluable. The kitchen is very well stocked with every dish, pot and utensil you could ask for. Having rented a vacation home before and not having everything we needed, we came with everything but the kitchen sink, and didn't even have to bring it all into the house. the beds were great, and decore enchanting. (Although i did throw away the dead baby crab on the table on the porch). the screened in porch is about 18 X 30' and is fantastic. Plenty of seating for the adults and plenty of space for the children to play. My daughter brought sand and othr toys for her 3 year old, but they never came out of the car since there was plenty of stuff there for the baby to play with.

Thank you so much for sharing your home with us - we couldn't have had more fun! Just so sorry it rained the entire last day we were there - but we'll be back! Thanks -

Homeowner Response:
Hi Nancy, thanks for the great comment and I am so happy you had a wonderful time at My Sea Esta.
The porch is fabulous - you are right!!
Also, remember that you are now a Tybee Cousin and will receive a special discount next time.
Yep - that was a rainy day - but we surely needed that rain here.
Poor baby crab..... we like those to stay in the ocean or have the daddy crabs on our plates.
We do try to anticipate and provide everything a family will need while on vacation - the kitchen sink is heavy to carry.
Thanks again and please come back soon.

In the words of my children "this place is great".
this is the first vacation that included the whole family and memories were
made this week.
"Uncle Bubbas" is always one of our favorite places to eat and thank goodness
for Publix on Whit Marsh Island - right before the bridge to Tybee.
We have eaten at Stingrays as well and the food is good.
For a special breakfast try the World Famous Breakfast Club at least once
during your stay.
If you would like a great day of inshore fishing call catpai David Heidt
Sundial Charters
He put us on the fish and we cooked them outside that night.
They were great. Captain Davis is great and funny
The jellyfish were bad this week so go in the water during the outgoing tide.
I could not get the remote control for the downstairs tv to work
On the last night of our stay, we ate Basils Pizza on Johnny Mercer Very good
We piced the hottest week fo the year but we still enjoyed it.
One tip - to keep the house cooler
put the fan in front of the ac
the sink outside is great for washing sea shells
