Description from owner
Sweethaven Resort, in the heart of Southwest Michigan's Harbor Country, gives guests a truly sweet getaway with all the modern conveniences of home - minus the work.
It's a place where memorable moments are made. Chuck and Liz Garasic have owned the Lake Michigan resort for more than 20 years and have built a solid reputation for customer service, with many repeat visitors. The resort features five unique cottages that can accommodate singles, couples and parties of up to 10. And family pets are welcome to join in the fun. Each cottage has a wireless Internet connection, cable TV, and DVD and CD players. Interiors have open floor plans, fireplaces and galley kitchens. Individual cottages are distinguished by color, distinctive décor and bird names - the Wren, Robin, Cardinal, Dove and Martin. A favorite cottage feature is the private deck, with a grill and a hot tub guaranteed to loosen tight muscles and melt away stress.
Situated on nine wooded acres, the resort is an ideal place to take a leisurely walk. Bikes are available for a short ride to the beach. After a day of assorted activities, guests can relax around a bonfire and indulge in a summer favorite - s'mores. At day's end, slip into a comfortable bed with crisp, fresh linens and get a good night's sleep filled with sweet dreams. Guests can take advantage of the many amenities in the vicinity of Harbor Country, such as wineries, casinos,
golf courses, boat rentals, movie and live theaters, museums, water parks, spas, boutique shops and high-end outlet mall stores.

“Nice resort but limited amenities”
We stayed for several nights in the Dove cottage. The cottage was cute but there was no central air so the space felt damp with only an air unit to cool it. The bedroom that had the air conditioning unit was freezing and the rest of the space was warm. Also, there was no dish washer so plan accordingly. The resort owners were lovely and so helpful! The beach is fairly close but while we were there it filled up quickly so plan to go late morning to get a good spot. If you want variety for your groceries and decent selection plan to go to New Buffalo as the stores in Union Pier had very limited selection and were quite pricey. Also, it's very buggy there so bring bug spray and wear it or you will have many mosquito bites!
We stayed in the Robin and the cottage was very cute and comfortable. The added bonus of having a hot tub and fireplace were awesome! We had everything that we needed to cook in the full kitchen. The owners, Chuck and Liz are so very nice and personable. Even though it rained all weekend, we had a wonderful time!
We loved staying here. The pictures do not do it justice. We walked the trails, played in the tree house, sat in the hot tub, played in the tire swing...& so much more. The house was beautifully kept & the owners are very warm & friendly.
Owner's reply: Thanks for spending time at Sweethaven Resort
“Great place to stay!”
We loved our weekend at this house... More than enough space... A quick two block walk to the beach... Close to shopping and places to eat. The house was super clean and Bruce checked in to make sure we got in and everything was fine. It was the perfect quick trip with my family!
Owner's reply: Thanks, it was wonderful to meet you both. We are glad you had a good time.
