Area Information
The Venice / Santa Monica area is situated in the westerly portion of Los Angeles. It is an urban beach community visited and enjoyed by locals and tourists from Los Angeles and all over the world. The beachfront stretches from Marina del Rey through Venice to Santa Monica and the famous Santa Monica Pier. Up the coast is Pacific Palisades and Malibu. Venice is an area appreciated by millionaires, middle class folks, and an array of colorful characters.

Activities are endless from bicycling to roller skating, swimming and surfing, tennis, paddle tennis, beach volleyball, basketball, and body building. Govenor Arnold Schwartenegger has an office on Main Street, with the original Gold's Gym nearby.

Venice is also famous for its art, architecture, and artists. There are galleries, the Venice Art Walk, small museums, and many galleries. And of course endless fine and casual restaurants, great shopping, and movie theaters, many on the Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica and down in Marina del Rey.

Downtown Los Angeles is 20 minutes to half an hour by car during non-rush hour and there is direct bus transportation on the Big Blue Bus where you will find more museums, concert halls, the new Frank Gehry designed Disney Hall, the Staple Center, and L.A. Live. Other attractions nearby are the Getty Center, UCLA, USC, and of course Hollywood and the Sunset Strip.
