Description of the Victoria vacation home rental
25 minutes north of Victoria, near the quiet sea-side town of Sidney. Close to BC Ferries and the airport.

Our House: 3,300 square foot (335 sq. m) is situated on 2 acres (.8 hectare) of coastal forest with easy access to walking trails. The house is very private, and completely surrounded by forest. Large back yard (lawn and gardens), and a large balcony deck for day and evening outdoor lounging. A 6-person spa (hot-tub) is also available by prior arrangement.

The house has three levels and is decorated with high quality custom woodwork and cabinets plus high quality furnishings. All main rooms have at least 3 large windows looking out to the gardens.

The ground floor has solid hardwood floors, harvested from local trees. The kitchen and halls are stone tiled. The well equipped kitchen offers an enormous selection of cookwear. The adjoining dining room seats 6 - bar stools also look into the kitchen from the den with woodburning stove. There is also a washroom (laundry) and front room with snooker pool table and fireplace.

The top floor has new carpets and laminate flooring. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed with ensuite (toilet, shower, sink) and walk-in closet. There is also a queen guest bedroom and common washroom with two sinks and tub/shower. Each bedroom has its own down duvet and high quality cotton linens. The TV room features a high definition TV and 5.1 Dolby surround sound system as well as DVD Player and VHS.

The basement level is a large carpeted room which can be used for additional accommodation with separate TV system.

A separate outdoor studio can also serve as sleeping for 2 or a private reading room/work space/study. The large garage/workshop has parking for 2 cars, 2 bikes and assorted sports and lawn maintenance equipment.

Area Information
The area is extremely quiet and semi-rural with a mixture of homes on large lots, interspersed with forested hiking trails, small farms, and beach/oceanside access trails. The local roads are residential only and have only light vehicle use. The Saanich Peninsula is surrounded on three sides by the waters of the gulf islands, famous for their quiet seaside activities and temperate climate. Three beach access trails are located within a 5-10 minute walk from our home.

Good location provides easy access to downtown Victoria. By car it is a pleasant 30 minute drive to the south via several alternative routes with delightful views of typical west coast scenery. We are located 5 minutes from the BC Ferries service to Vancouver (a 1.5 hour ferry ride through spectacular coastal scenery then a 20 minute drive) and other destinations in the Pacific Northwest mainland including Seattle, Washington, USA (3-5 hours away via one of three different ferry services). We are also only 10 minutes from Victoria airport.

Within 5 minutes:
- B.C. Ferries service to Vancouver and the Gulf Islands
- Numerous seaside access points with quiet beaches (walking)
- A countryside eating establishment which has an international reputation.
- A winery
- Hiking/walking trails galore
- Public tennis
- Numerous road-side produce stands for local farm-fresh vegetables and fruits
- Local Grocery and Convenience Store with video rentals (9:00 - 21:00)

Within Ten minutes:

- Indoor Recreation Centre: large indoor pool, sauna, indoor tennis and squash courts, raquetball and fitness gym
- Our local town / shopping area, SIDNEY, one of Vancouver Island's best kept secrets and the Saanich Peninsula's commercial hub. Sidney is a bustling seaside community with an easy going attitude - population, just over 10,000. Explore Sidney's unique and exciting clothing shops, art galleries, gift stores, antique shops, an eclectic mix of restaurants, coffee bars and bakeries. Sidney is also the launching point for ferry service to the delightful sandy beach marine park "Sidney Spit" for wonderful seaside day trips. Washington State (US) gulf islands ferry service also departs from here (lots of bed and breakfasts) for extended travels.
