“did not rent but owner was fabulous”

Reviewed 4 Jan 2017

did not get to rent this property but spoke and emailed the owner several times and if you want to rent from a caring and friendly and helpful owner she is the one. I know we would have enjoyed the unit but family members decided to stay closer to broadwalk.

“Nice abd cosy house overlooking the sea”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2016

We deeply enjoyed our stay at this house. It was cosy, nicely furbished, close to the beach... On the cons side, we learned only two weeks prior our arrival that the linings aren't included. Of course we managed. We liked it so much, we might even go back!

“Best House on the Beach”

Reviewed 3 Oct 2015

The house was cozy, nicely furnished and very clean with an excellent view of the surf. The kitchen was well stocked with more than enough space. Martha was a gracious host to deal with. She left us a list of recommended restaurants and I can say the list was perfect. We tried Chicks for a nice dinner on the bay but loved Dockside for their fresh cobia also had a nice flounder lunch at Charlies but for breakfast we couldn't top Java Surf for its service or freshness. The fishing was great from the surf and on windy days had plenty of action at the Lynnhaven Pier. The path to the beach is beautiful and teeming with land crabs that were fun to watch, the dolphins were out in the morning and most afternoons very close to shore. The beach is away from the crowds of the hotel area which really added to the getaway feeling. For a nice afternoon the Cape Henry Lighthouse is only 2 blocks away in Fort Story and well worth the time. All-in-all one of our best vacation experiences, there was just something special about the house and its owner Martha.

“Sweet. cottage/house with beautiful views”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2015

We stayed here for 10 days and it was lovely. The house was clean and comfortable and the views from the windows and the screened in porch made the trip down from DC worthwhile. This house has a bathroom with shower on the lower level so that you can clean off the sand in private which was wonderful. There was plenty of space for 4 adults and two children. We had a lovely time and the owner was responsive and helpful throughout. One of the mattresses in the children's rooms needs replacement, but my two year old slept on it so that worked out fine. WE LOVED staying here and hope to come back next year!

Owner's reply: Thank you, Chaya

“beautiful quaint stay”

From the moment you contact Martha, you feel right at home. The house is quaint and a very short walk over the dunes. Our family felt right at home and plan to stay there again! Thanks Martha

Owner's reply: Lovely guest.

“Wonderful & Charming Ocean Retreat”

Reviewed 1 Dec 2014

Our stay was lovely and the owner was marvelous to work with. The place is so charming and peaceful with just a terrific ocean view. We watched the ships gently flow by and the sunrises were stunning. The home is spacious and inviting. It was clean and fresh when we arrived, and we immediately could relax and just enjoy the time on the ocean and each other. We had cozy fires a few cold nights and cooked most meals in with such a well-appointed kitchen. We also found some terrific local restaurants that were a treat. We had a marvelous stay!

Owner's reply: What a glorious review. Thank you so much. Please come back!

“Family Sanctuary”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2014

My family of 9 gathered for much needed quality time together. All ages from adults to the youngest children 2 and 3 year olds enjoyed the cozy cottage. Family meals around the dining table, late night talks on the screened in porch, and countless walks on the beach to watch the dolphins all created lasting memories for my family. Martha's beach cottage really is a sanctuary for families to step away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life and create life long memories. My family can't wait to visit again!

“Wonderful !!!”

Reviewed 19 Aug 2013

Wow what a beautiful beach house!!! We spent a wonderful week my parents, my husband and I and our two teenage girls ..... The house is very well located with a great view of the ocean just a few steps walk from the beach. We had the chance to see beautiful dolphins swimming in front of us and large naval ships towards the Chesapeake Bay ...... Nice house very clean and tastefully decorated .... This house has 3 large tastefully furnished rooms and two bathrooms including two showers, a very comfortable lounge and a nice desk for users with free wi-fi service. A convivial dining room for six people very well equipped with a nice kitchen lunch counter .... A charcool grill was available for BBQ lovers. A handy outdoor shower is located on the side of the house. The central air conditioning was much appreciated for our week of intense heat in early August. Not to mention the beautiful veranda (porch) on the side of the house and adjacent to our living room with a view of the ocean and topped rattan furniture to relax and listen to the waves .... There are also two convenient parking spaces. Martha, the owner and her daughter were very nice and helpful. The beach is beautiful and intimate and only a few owners of the neighboring houses will take place. We enjoyed not having a beach crowded with people and be able to relax at the sun. Well an unforgettable week! I highly recommend this beach house located in Virginia Beach near the Chesapeake Bay .... Martha thank you ....

Owner's reply: Thank you so very much for your enthusiastic and very lovely review. I am so glad you appreciated my second home. I love it too and will be there for month of September. Please come back!
