Best place for family and friends

September 27, 2016

We were so pleased to stay at this super amazing place. It was way more than we were expecting. From the decoration and the warm feeling of being at home, to the attention to the details at every corner. We were pleased to find everything we needed, we only had to bring our food and the house provides everything you could think of, from entertainment for the kids to the game area for adults as well. Forgot your umbrellas? No problem they have you covered! Great music and sound system, tv with movies for the whole family, family board games and of course my favorite part; the awesome jacuzzi and the hammocks to chill on the lanai. Me, my family and friends want to make this visit to Alas del Kealoha a tradition to get together every year. I defiantly recommend this beautiful place.

We especially welcome families. For that purpose, we try to make sure that, we provide safe entertainment and relaxing options for every age and generation. Much Mahalo

Wonderful stay!

June 29, 2016

Our family of five stayed in Alas Del Kealoha for one week and loved every day. It is a beautiful and spacious home with excellent kitchen, views, and close to all the action and sightseeing in Volcano. 30 minutes away are the black sand beach with snorkeling, the bigger town of Hilo, and waterfalls to admire. Make sure you see Kileaua at night to see the lava glow. Everything is at the house that you might need: kitchen accessories, umbrellas, extra blankets, books, maps... We would love to stay again!

Owner's reply:

Aloha Joyce,

Mahalo for allowing us to make your vacation more comfortable. As world travelers ourselves, we try to offer our guests the type of accommodations we wish to find somewhere else. Plus, it is always a pleasure to be able to share magnificent Hawaii with the rest of the world.

Aloha!

An excellent place to stay! Beautiful home with all the amenities in a beautiful and private location. Owners contacted us prior to arrival and met us there when we arrived. Very friendly people and very knowledgeable about the property and surrounding area. We would love to stay here again!

Owner's reply:

It's always a pleasure for us to be able to offer people around the world the possibility to explore such a wonderful site on the Big Island. We chose our vacation rental as a family business because we could not keep this location to ourselves. As we are just caretakers that love nature and beauty, we cannot call ourselves owners of the Hawaii Rain Forest, we needed to share it with the rest of the world. The way we manage the house and it's surroundings is by keeping this & our guests in mind

This home was just right for my son and I. It was surrounded by beautiful rain forest and so comfortable. The owners were present when we arrived and made us feel so welcome and cared for. We loved the all-wood construction and the porch was one of our favorite places to be after being in the crowds and congestion of Kona. Thank you for providing such a lovely place to call home for a few days!

Mauricio Barbis

Owner's reply:

Aloha Linda,
We are so delighted you and your son were able to stay and enjoy the spirit of Aloha provided by the homeowners and the inviting spaces that make Alas Del Kealoha so special. We look forward to having you stay with us again!

"Cozy and wonderful!"

Had everything we needed and it was in great proximity to Volcano National Park (about a mile away) We also drove about an hour to Akaka Falls north of Hilo.

"Beautiful mountain retreat!"

Great customer service! The place was nicely appointed, new, and the access and departure could not have been easier! The wifi wasn't connecting (maybe I shouldn't have been using it on vacation), and they went out of the way to see that it was fixed. The only, and I mean the only nit to pick was that the bed was a bit on the small side, but we'd gladly go back!!

This stay was fantastic. It's only about an hour away from check out right now, but I felt inspired to write this review sooner than later because I had such a nice time. The house was very clean, warm, and inviting. The peacefulness of this place is unreal. From the outside, it doesn't look like it, but once you step inside the home, you instantly feel like you're in a cabin in the woods. Very cool! I would highly recommend this home. Between the hot tub, the fire place, and the host's friendliness, I could not have had a nicer time in Volcano. Making a fire was a wonderful suggestion- thank you! Your kindness was very inviting...
Other places I've stayed, I have some small criticism, but honestly, I don't have any for you :) Thanks again!

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How far are you from Hawaii Volcanoes National Park?
A: Alas Del Kealoha is less than 10 minutes from the entrance to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. View night time glow of Kilauea Crater or walk through steam vents within 10 minutes from our home. This is a lava safe area.
Q: What is there to do if it's raining?
A: Besides going hiking in the rain, it's often still warm and dry, especially along by the coastal trails in the park. It is almost always sunny once you leave the rainforest, so check the radar for rain clouds and head to the sunny spots of the island. If you choose to stay indoors; we have plenty of activities in our home for you to enjoy, board games, on demand movies and satellite TV, books, cozy fireplace and reading spaces and lots of books, there's ping pong, air hokey, and of course our hot tub!
Q: Where is the nearest beach?
A: Punalu'u Black Sand Beach is about 30 miles south of Volcano and often warm and dry even if raining in Volcano. There are almost always turtles to be see at this beach either on the beach or in the surf. Swimming is fair on calm days. Whale watching in late winter months. There are bathrooms and picnic areas. Bring sunscreen, water, and your own snacks because vendor options are limited to none.
Some of the best beaches are located about 90 miles away along the Kohala Coast. Hapuna Beach and Mauna Kea are two great beaches to check out if you can. Snorkeling options can be found in Hilo and Kona coastal areas.
Q: How do we check in?
A: We provide a check in service for our guests between 3-8pm. You let us know what time you'll be arriving and we'll meet you. If you will be a late arrival (past 8 pm), we provide you with a access code for the door and directions to the home for self check-in.
Q: Are there early check-in and late check-out options?
A: Whenever possible we try to accommodate our guests for early arrival or late check-out. These arrangements can be made 12-24 hours prior to arrival or departure and are subject to availability.
