“More like a home than a rental”

Reviewed 18 Jan 2017

Most condos are fairly austere, 4 plates, 4 cups and so forth. This place feels like someone lives here and since the owners live in Honolulu I imagine they do spend a lot of time here. All the basics are here and a lot more. Everything is first class, appliances furniture and even the towels in the bathroom. Its been 25 years since the last time we were at Maili Cove. Much to our delight, it is still as wonderful as we remembered. The view can't be beat, incredible sunsets every night. The beach park next door offers a wonderful place for morning walks, easy walking for my husbands unsteady legs. While it's true that the traffic noise from the highway behind the condo takes a little getting used to, there is a hideabed in the living room which could take care of that. We thought about doing that but found we soon got used to the traffic. There are several store in Waianae where we bought all our groceries and bigger and no doubt better ones not tha much farther away.

Owner's reply: Aloha Berit, Thank you so much for your review. I am glad you enjoyed our condo and hope you will come again. The way to cancel the noise from the traffic is to shut the bedroom windows (they are specially made for cutting the noise), and either use the airconditioning or the ceiling fan (the fan is enough for me). I wish you and your husband a nice trip back home. Best regards, Nicole Dupont

What a wonderful place to get away from it all and truly enjoy the Aloha spirit. Norman and Nicole provided a perfect location with all the amenities one could ever need. The view is great and you may watch the sunset from the balcony, the pool, or the beach. Far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Honolulu, but close enough it you want to experience it. We loved staying here so much and hope to do it again next year! Thank you Norman and Nicole for being such lovely and wonderful hosts!

Owner's reply: Aloha Kerri and Ric Thank you for the nice review. We enjoyed meeting you, you are such interesting people! We loved to have you at Maili Cove and, Yes, please do come back next year! Best personal regards, Nicole and Norman ,

“Our Beachfront Condo Vacation”

Reviewed 13 May 2016

Our week at this lovely condo was very special! The beautiful beach and surf was practically just outside of our patio slider. We kept the slider open day and night to get that awesome view and sound. We captured some great sunset pictures as well. The condo itself lacked nothing that we needed to be comfortable. We like to cook while on vacation, so we enjoyed the nice appliances needed to do that. What fun it is to prepare dinner and watch and hear the surf at the same time! Our hosts provided us with a great living experience for our first time in Oahu! Should we return to the island in the future, that is where we would like to stay.

Owner's reply: Dear Janet and Stan, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate it. We are glad you enjoyed your stay, and look forward to see you again. Mahalo and Aloha, Nicole and Norman

“All the necessities you need!”

Reviewed 28 Mar 2016

I'm a local girl that grew up in this area. This was my 1st time staying at Maile Cove. The unit we rented was very clean and well equipped with everything we needed . Everything from a rice cooker to beach chairs. The temperature in the room was very cool. A nice breeze. Didn't need to use the air conditioner too much. Overall, I would definitely recommend this rental unit! Oh and they even gave me a souvenir gift! How very thoughtful!

Owner's reply: Thank you Kathleen. We hope to see you again. Aloha, Nicole and Norman

We had a great time in Nicole's and Normans condo. Our friends booked 212 next door. Great location away from the busy Honolulu area. It was fun each morning having coffee on the balcony watching the whales. Nicole and Norman greated us at the car rental both sides of our week and gave us a wonderful parting gift. Thanks for everything, I will recommend your condo to friends. Mike and Jane

“Right on the ocean at a bargain price!”

Reviewed 14 Dec 2014

We really enjoyed our stay in this condo - it was comfortable and had everything we needed, but the best part about it was the spectacular view. Every night we watched a beautiful sunset, either from the comfort of our lanai or from a great spot poolside. The west coast in general is also a great place to be - much quieter than elsewhere on the island and with sunnier weather. All in all, a great spot!

“Two weeks in paradise!”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2014

This condo was a jewel! So many upgrades, and well equipped, we had everything we needed for our two week stay. The sun rose each day out our front door and set off the lanai in the back. We had the sound of the ocean lulling us to sleep and night and the cool trade winds coming in the windows keeping us cool and comfortable. The beach was beautiful and right out our door. Because the community is gated, less worry about safety. We would stay here again!,

“Spectacular Ocean View”

Reviewed 3 Apr 2014

My mother, sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our February vacation at #213 Maili Cove. The personal greeting and warm welcome by owners Nicole and Norman who met us at the car rental were reassuring. In a working-class neighborhood, this solid condo complex is attractive in design and well-maintained. The manicured grounds and refreshing salt water pool are carefully tended---kudos to the capable site manager. Parking was clearly marked and we felt secure at all times. The second floor condo was clean, uncluttered and tastefully furnished. Major appliances including the new TV are first-rate. Although traffic noise from the busy highway prompted closing the bedroom windows at times, there was absolutely no sound from adjacent units. The environment of the 61-unit complex was pleasant and respectful of others. Miles of golden sand accessed directly in front of Maili Cove invite early morning beach walks. The comfortable courtyard area with BBQ's is an ideal place to relax and enjoy cards or board games. Beach chairs, towels, boogie boards, picnic cooler, etc., provide easy options for vacation fun. From the bedroom, kitchen and living areas, the ocean view is spectacular. Even at night, we kept the lanai sliders and drapes open to hear the pounding waves and to enjoy the early morning view. We didn't need AC in February. The bed/pillows were very comfortable and plenty of linens and towels were supplied. We would recommend a good topper for the sofa bed if it is used. Closet and drawer space is generous. Preparing food in the attractive, functional kitchen overlooking the ocean is hardly a chore. The beautiful lagoons and landscape at nearby Ko'olina are a fine picnic and swim destination. A monk seal basked on sunny Makaha Beach and we spotted many breaching whales. For visitors to Oahu who look for glitz, night clubs, crowded beaches and souvenir shops, Maili Cove and the Waianae area would disappoint. If the sights and sounds of the ocean, sprawling golden beaches, scenic coastal mountains, gorgeous sunsets and an appreciation of "old Hawaii" are priorities, we recommend West Oahu and Maili Cove. The Duponts are most thoughtful and accommodating hosts. We greatly appreciated vacationing in their beach home and their special gift when they met us on our departure. Mahalo, Nicole and Norman. We look forward to returning to Maili Cove for Easter vacation.

Owner's reply: Aloha Florence, Terry and Gerry, It was a pleasure meeting you three, and we enjoyed your visit in February. We look forward to see you again in a few weeks. Mahalo Nui Loa. Nicole and Norman.
