Reviews for this vacation home rental in Waimanalo, Oahu, Hawaii
The best we've ever stayed in. Beautiful views, right on the water. We could have spent our whole vacation just lying on the hammock, or sitting on the swing looking at the water. We saw sea turtles, dolphins, and even a whale breaching far off shore. Having our own hot tub on our deck was wonderful. We loved snorkeling right on our own beach in a calm area protected from big waves. Our kids loved the swings and tree house. Everything on the island can be reached within about an hour. Laycie and Mike were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful during the week. This property is ideal for families, with a full kitchen, washer and drier, hot tub, snorkeling gear, and boogie boards. If your kids like to swim in big waves, don't miss Waimanalo Beach, just a 2 minute drive away.

I've stayed in Waimanalo many times at various properties, but this last stay was the best. If you want an amazing view, great location, and nature, this is the place. We saw whales, turtles, seals, and an amazing array of fish. Laycie ( the property manager) made us feel right at home and checked on us to make sure everything was okay. Can't wait to return!

Scenic, peaceful, conveniently located
We recently stayed at the beautifully situated Makapuu Hale for 5 days. We were 2 retired couples. The house was plenty big, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well furnished. The outside BBQ even came pre-loaded with briquettes. The dock with pier was great to go out to see fish and turtles. The home in Waimanalo was conveniently located for easy access to Kailua and the scenic drive to the North Shore as well as close to Honolulu. Laycie was available by phone, if needed, and even came by one day to see that everything was fine. What a beautiful location to just sit in the hammock and watch the ocean! Highly recommended!

Stayed for 7 days, (too short). We can't wait to return. We toured the island, but we where always drawn back to the view, peace and tranquility found at Makapuu Hale. Which by the way has wonder host! Booking, arriving and staying. Was flawless!

If you wish to experience paradise, then this is the place to be. The outstanding location, setting and accommodations is beyond compare. Waking up every day to incredible sunrises and spectacular days is why you come here for a vacation. The owner is one of the nicest people I have ever met. Thank you for sharing this with us.

We Love This Place!
We love this place. In no particular order we especially loved the outdoor shower, the lanai, our giant bed with a sunrise view, the new full-length pier, the wooden swing over-looking the ocean under the shade of the coco palms with the sea breeze, the snorkeling paradise right out our front door, the friendly neighborhood fisher-people, the view out most every window, the overall swiss family robinson thing you got goin' on, the jacuzzi, the sculptures in the garden, the lovely garden, the cat (little cutie pie) and the praying mantis. We shall strive to become better sailors and to toughen up our not-so-kanaka frets and return next year. Mahalo plenty!

Our Time Here Will Be Etched in Our Family History w/ Asterisks!
Aloha, The island wept on the first and the last morning, but they matched our joy & heartache of arrival & departure. Comfort of an ideal island home & located close to so many local hot spots while being a hiccup & a heartbeat to adventures island wide. Laycie, Mike & Jeanne thank you for the parts you added to our experience. Our time here will be etched in our family history with asterisks. Many thanks! Mahalo!!! Mark, Teresa & Kyla

Another Great Trip!
Another great trip! This time there were 6 of us, so we rented both the Honu & the Makapuu to make sure we had lots of space! The kitchen in Makapuu is really great - every possible appliance you could need. This property is so convenient to all parts of the island. Bellows AF Base Beach is fantastic for boogie boarding Friday - Sunday. Open Saturday, noon on Friday - Sunday. We ate at Ono's Steak at least every other day - breakfast, lunch & dinner. BEST coconut shrimp on the island. The pier here is great for fishing. Best eating in Kailua is Kalapawai Deli & Market, plus Agnes Bakery for malasadas. We will be back in May for another week!
