Description of the Waimea vacation villa rental
This stunning 10,000 square foot, slate and mahogany floored, 7-bedroom open air Villa is your own private paradise. Enter the expansive foyer through the beautiful etched glass double doors to step down into the 2 1/2 story living room capped with a traditional Hawaiian wooden ceiling and clerestory windows, and bordered by sliding glass doors leading to the central lanai with views of the pool and spa. From this central location the expansive gourmet kitchen with bar seating for 10, three refrigerators and a professional 6-burner gas stove opens to the right. Beyond the kitchen is the separate dining room, with cathedral wooden ceiling, and surrounded on three sides with sliding glass doors opening to the lanai.

Opposite the kitchen/ dining room wing is the master bedroom suite. The bedroom itself is two-stories high, again with the traditional wooden ceiling and clerestory windows. Mirroring the dining room architecture, the master bedroom also has three walls of sliding glass doors opening both to the central lanai and to a private terrace. The master bath features two enclosed lavatories, an expansive closet, opposing dual sinks and counters, indoor and outdoor showers and an indoor jacuzzi.

The central or lower lanai has a barbecue, refrigerator, and two tables for al fresco dining for large groups. An 8-person outdoor spa featuring two 6 -foot- deep wells, and a 15-meter long, 12-foot deep true swimming pool, with waterfall, water slide and 2-meter high diving board provide your own private water park.

Another wing of the villa branches off the living room and provides wonderful separation for multi-generational families or large groups seeking privacy and the ability to accommodate differing, simultaneous activities. Three bedrooms, again with wooden cathedral ceilings, en suite baths, and private outdoor access, fan off a central library area. An adjoining two-story media room with TV and stereo complete this versatile, private wing.

The Villa has two additional bedrooms on the main floor, each with vaulted, wooden-coffered ceilings and en suite baths, and a charming 'hideaway' bedroom opening on to the upper lanai and taking advantage of the ocean view and tropical breezes.

While attending to your laundry using the Villa's two washing machines and dryers, grab a game of pool or settle down to a friendly game of poker. Boogie boards and other beach equipment should make your stay in the Villa and your visit to the Island a truly memorable one.

Hale Lalama is located in a gated, secluded and quiet community three minutes from two of the most beautiful and private swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding beaches the Island has to offer. It is a mere ten minute drive to the outstanding boogie boarding and surfing waves at Hapuna and Mauna Kea beaches, which are consistently voted in the top ten beaches in the U.S. Other hideaway beaches, including '69' and Spenser Beach Park are also minutes away.

Visiting the observatory at Mauna Kea, one of the world's premier research facilities, is a truly exciting evening adventure. There is horseback riding and hikes in the Polulu valley and beach combing on a pristine black sand beach, on the north end of the island, just past the charming old sugar town of Hawi.

Oh, and did we mention volcanoes? The Big Island is home to five volcanoes, one of which, Kilauea , is active. Walking on recently cooled lava, with glimpses of a molten underworld, is truly amazing.

Strolling the ancient Hawaiian coastal trail, past the traditional fish ponds and petroglyphs within Mauna Lani Resort, brings a bit of historic Hawaii to your visit. The majestic, stone Puukohola Heiau just north of the Mauna Lani on the Kohala Coast is one of the largest restored temples in Hawaii. Heiau were sacred places of worship for Native Hawaiians, and Puukohola Heiau was a site built to fulfill a historic prophecy.

Night dives with manta rays, and helicopter rides to view the Big Island's extraordinary geologic diversity are also convenient and easily arranged.

The Manua Lani Resort itself is home to one of the world's top spa facilities, as well as golf, tennis and fine dining. Additional fine dining, including Tommy Bahamas and Brown's Beach house, as well as shopping for island treasures, is available at the Shops at Mauna Lani and the Orchid Resort. The complex's grocery store offers fresh fish, locally grown organic vegetables, and a good selection of wine and spirits should you choose to dine and entertain at the Villa.

Slightly further afield is the local fishing port of Kawaihae. There you can purchase freely caught fish and local seafood for grilling poolside on the Villa's lanai. Dinner at Cafe Pesto, a stop for that quintessential Hawaiian treat, shave ice, and an evening of fun and music at the Blue Dragon Restaurant, round out a memorable trip to this locales-oriented enclave.

Up the inland road to Waimea, home to many of the Island';s residents, brings you to a number of galleries and other dining venues, including the world-renowned Merriman's and Red Water Cafe.
