Description of the Washington vacation home rental
Built in 1896, this home retains all its historic charm yet has been brought up to date with an open concept main level and 21st century appliances. The location simply could not be better, as the home is on a quiet side street yet within a short walk of everything. It is only steps from a concentration of restaurants known as Restaurant Row, with tables out front by the sidewalk. Stanton Park, which is ideal for small children, is one block away. Union Station, from which virtually every sightseeing tour in Washington departs, is three blocks away. Here is a partial list of close-by sites:

Less than five blocks away:
- US Capitol
- US Supreme Court
- Library of Congress
- Folger Shakespeare Library
- Belmont-Paul Women's Equality museum
- Union Station

Within 1.5 miles:
- Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum
- Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History
- National Gallery of Art
- Smithsonian American Art Museum
- National Museum of the American Indian
- Hirshorn Museum (modern art)
- National Archives
- Verizon Center (Washington Wizards NBA team)
- Madam Tussaud's
- International Spy Museum
- Newseum
- US Botanical Garden
- National Building Museum

The home has been furnished for a family of four, and also has a crib, high chair, and stair gate for baby. It is ideal for a family with children. Our neighborhood, Capitol Hill, is quiet yet so centrally located that the sites are within walking distance, a huge plus since none of them has parking. You will live like a local, walking one block to the grocery store with the house shopping cart, or getting around on DC's bright red public bicycles, which you can pick up at a bike rack close to the house.

Your rental includes a free permit for street parking. However, due to our proximity to the major tourist attractions we recommend not renting a car. Should you need a rental vehicle for a day to visit out-of-town sites, there are rental car offices minutes from the house.

Although we are steps from Restaurant Row, you will find the house equipped with a cook's kitchen. Whether it is a coffee grinder, a blender for margaritas, or a selection of spices, you will find it on hand.

Your rental comes with all linens, towels, a blow drier, a starter set of toiletries, etc. All you need to bring is a tooth brush.

PLEASE NOTE, WE DO NOT ADVERTISE ON CRAIGSLIST. If you came across the content of our listing on Craigslist, it is a fake ad.
Area Information
The house is located on a quiet side street street only steps from Restaurant Row, a block of restaurants with tables right on the sidewalk, and one block from Stanton Park, which is ideal for small children. Union Station, the epicenter of tour excursions, is only three block from the house.

Capitol Hill is a historical conservation neighborhood of beautifully maintained, charming old houses. It has a small-town feel and a human scale, is cosmopolitan, and has a thriving cultural scene. The residential area closest to Washington's institutions, it is home to a large number of politicians and VIPs.

While the setting is urban, this is considered a safe and upscale area. It is not uncommon to see young women out for a jog alone after dark or children walking unaccompanied to the public swimming pool. It is safe to walk at all hours.

Beautiful home and great location!
5 of 5
My son and I traveled to Washington DC to tour colleges in the area and take in some sightseeing while there. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and when we have an opportunity to return as a family, there will be plenty of room for all 5 of us at the Restaurant Row house. The house was perfectly clean, well lit and nicely appointed with items for visitors, such as umbrellas and tourist information. The beds and linens were luxurious, and the amenities including the flat screen TVs and cable were a bonus after a long day of walking and sightseeing. The owner was highly responsive to our questions and provided information as needed throughout the weekend. All the museums and attractions of the area are within an easy walking distance, and Union Station is minutes away for easy access to any type of public transportation needed. We enjoyed a variety of excellent restaurants just down the street from the house that both my son and I enjoyed. We always felt safe walking and found our way around the city quite easily. I would definitely recommend the Restaurant Row house to my family and friends as an ideal place to stay while in Washington DC.

Perfect way to visit Washington!
5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful house. Everything was perfect! You can find everything would possibly need in the kitchen and all living quarters are quite comfortable, especially after a day of walking in this beautiful city. The house is also very clean and located in a charming neighborhood, at a walking distance from the Capitol and the Mall. The metro and train station is also quite near and tour buses leave from there.

Although we stayed six days, it was not enough to be able to see all what Washington has to offer. We found the people in Washington to be very helpful and extremely nice and that included the owner of the house Alec.

Great place to stay in DC!
5 of 5
This row house was a great place to stay. It is an easy walk from Union Station. We did it with two little kids. The neighborhood is great. It is a historic disctrict - very charming and safe. There are some restaurants and a park with a playground for kids within a block. We ate at one of the restaurants and it was decent and took our kids to the park one morning. There is also a little grocery and wine store very close. It is very close to the Capital and walking distance to the Mall and museums. We even went for a run from the house to the Washington Monument and around the White House and back - 7 miles! - it was a great way to exercise!

The house is perfect! We have rented a few houses through home away and this was one of the best. Everything is brand new. The decorating is terrific - modern without overwheming the historic charm. The open floor plan on the first floor is nice and the bedrooms are big with plenty of space to unpack. There is even a great patio our back where we relaxed after our kids went to bed. The owners have made the place kid friendly and thought of everything - plastic utencils, plates, cups; a gate at the top of the stairs; a high chair. There is every possible applicance and everything you need for cooking if you chose to (we just did breakfasts).

The owner Alec is very responsive and accomodating. He was a pleasure to work with. We had a great time, loved the house and would definitely stay here again.

We loved this house!
5 of 5
Good thing we loved this house - due to Hurricane Sandy, this family of four spent far more time together in it than we otherwise would have! Our power never went out and we were warm and comfy as we waited for it to pass.

The house is just as comfortable and pleasant as can be. It is very clean and nicely appointed - good sheets and towels, fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable seating and beds.

The location couldn't be better for sightseeing - just a couple of blocks away from the Capitol and from Union Station.

Alec, the property owner, is great, and super-responsive.

The restaurants around the corner on Massachussetts Ave are not stellar, but about a mile away(15 minute walk or a cheap cab ride) there is a wealth of choices on 8th Street just south of Eastern Market.

We'll definitely look to stay here again when we're next in DC.

Super Great Location

Want a super location from which to explore all that Washington has to offer? This is it. Walk to all the best sites. Minutes from the Capitol, Museums on the Mall, and Union Station. Local amenities like a neighborhood supermarket, the historical Eastern Market and great neighborhood restaurants just minutes away. Clean, simple, modern and comfortable with a well-equipted kitchen - everything you need for a great experience. Well suited for kids! The owner is super responsive and strikes a great balance between how to welcome and take care of guests without disturbing your privacy and precious time. We thought the parking might be an issue but found it easy with minimal inconvenience. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to friends. Thanks for a great stay!

Bigger than pictured, beautifully updated
5 of 5
The photos don't do the house justice because the spaces are actually larger than the pictures depict. The first floor was roomy and seemed to be very recently redone and done well. The first floor has refinished original hardwood floors and the kitchen has a ton of storage. I would recommend bringing in your own groceries as the small grocery store down the street is good in a pinch, but not for fresh food. There are also no family friendly restaurants in the area except for Union Station which is for the most part fast food. And since the museums all close by 5:30, cooking in the lovely new kitchen is an economical option.

We really appreciated the little extras the owner supplied which most others do not: extra toilet tissue, wrapped soaps and travel size shampoo, laundry detergent and softener sheets, paper towels. Other houses we have rented did not even have a spare roll of tissue. The owner even provides wood for the fireplace (which was lovely in December) and enough umbrellas for everyone. There were plenty of extra blankets and pillows but the house was warm and we didn't even need them.

We did as the owner suggested and left the car at union station. Parking spots were always readily available and there were always people coming and going so it felt quite safe.

The walkability of the area is definitely key; there is also a $1.00 ciruculator bus from union station that will take you close enough to the White House and the museums.

All in all, we would highly recommend this rental. The house was nicer than my own, it was clean, it is totally renovated, and the thoughtful items provided by the owner made this a very enjoyable vacation.

We highly recommend!

Great house, superb location
5 of 5
We visited from Ireland for a week. Three generations of my family stayed in this property and it worked great for everyone from my 1 and half year old daughter to my mother in law. This is a beautiful property finished to an extremly high standard and has all the facilities and amenities you could want in a home away from home. I particularly appreciated the available facilties for babies - highchair, plastic plates (in addition to regular ones), crib, stair gate. Having cooking and laundry facilities was also a big plus over a hotel stay with a baby.

The house has been very recently done up and was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The owner Alec was a pleasure to deal with and very prompt to respond to any query. We'd a minor problem with one of the bathrooms while we were there but Alec sorted it out as soon as we contacted him.

The location of the house is very convenient for everywhere you might want to visit in Washington. It's a short walk (less than 10 mins) to the Mall with the Capitol Building, Supreme Court and most of the museums and monuments. It's an even shorter walk (5 mins) with restaurants and a supermarket along the way to Union Station where you can get the Metro, trains and buses.

Washington is a great city to visit and this is a great house to stay in. Can't recommend it enough!

Great Location! Beautiful house!

Traveling to DC for business for the 3rd time and joyfully stayed here instead of the conference center hotel yet again. So much more comfortable with lots of bright space, comfy beds, and beautifully appointed full Kitchen. Walking distance to Union Station for the commute to the conference was a big plus! Walking distance to the National Mall for the 2 of us not attending the conference was also important for sightseeing. We were at the center of everything with great restaurants, a well stocked grocery and a very well stocked fine wine & spirits cellar, Schneider's of Capital Hill just a short block away. We always felt safe and walked all over the place day and night.

The owner, Alec, was super helpful and undid the bunk beds for us among other things to make our stay there a memorable one. We would definitely stay again if we are so lucky as to get to come back next year.

Absolutely loved our 'home away from home' for a weekend in D.C. We are 'small town' midwesterners but had no trouble fitting into the quiet, very nice rowhouse in this awesome location -- just a few blocks from the train station and Metro. Fantastic amenities -- fully stocked kitchen with all the utensils we needed. We have 2 small children (3- and 5-years) so safety and security were a concern. We had no problems at all.

Small grocery store nearby was nice, but expensive -- thought we would save money by eating in but found it was almost cheaper to eat out. Beds were very comfortable and after a long day walking the mall and museums everyone slept well.

Homeowner was easily accessible and quick to respond to some questions we had during our stay. Can't wait to stay here again!

Thanks to Alec & this property for a great DC stay

We can’t say enough about the property owner, Alec and this beautiful home.

We arrived on a cold, rainy evening to a warm, welcoming home. There was soft music playing and the lights were dimmed perfectly. We stayed for 5 days and brought enough food to have every meal at home.

The kitchen has a great gas stove and is well equipped with anything you would need from a coffee grinder and blender to measuring cups and plenty of cookware and utensils. The flat screen TVs (in the master bedroom and main level) and cable were a bonus. The beds and linens were top of the line and the laundry, fully equipped with iron and ironing board, on the sleeping level was ultra convenient.

Many attractions close by 5:30 so this is a very comfortable home to come back to. It is very clean and looks to be recently updated and well maintained. We felt very safe day and night whether we were walking to the local store or just relaxing at home.

As far as location, it is ideal. Walking distance to Union Station where we left our car ($22 per day) during our stay. You can catch the metro, bus or taxi to the attractions which are just minutes away. DC is a very friendly city.

We would not hesitate to stay in this house again. Alec has thought of all contingencies such as providing umbrellas, maps, bath and laundry soaps and many other things you may need. He helped to make this a perfect vacation for us.

My family of four stayed in this fantastic townhome for a week. The owner was a joy to work with through the entire reservation process and during our stay. He provided so many details that we easily felt at home when we got there. The home was perfect, it is beautiful and has everything that you could need or want. The location is absolutely ideal, not only is it on a quiet street but it is just a couple of blocks away from both Union Station and the Capitol, you can easily walk to many of the tourist hotspots. We parked our car at Union Station garage for the week and walked everywhere. I would highly recommend this for families, couples, girls weekends, etc. I have friends traveling to DC this summer and will be recommending this lovely place to them! They would be crazy not to rent it :)

This home made our stay perfect!
5 of 5
Our family of five stayed at this home for five nights, and it was perfect for us. It really made Washington, DC doable for our family. One of our children has been ill and doesn't have much stamina. Being able to stay close to all the sights made it possible for us to have rest breaks between activities, or for some to stay in while others went sight seeing. It also helped to have a nice kitchen since our child has a special diet. We were able to prepare his food and also bring in bagels, tacos, sushi and other food from the stores and restaurants nearby so that we could all dine together in the kitchen or on the patio without any stress.

The area is very nice and feels safe and lively. We enjoyed feeling like "city people" and found Union Station very convenient for metro or taxis. Walking to the Capitol, Library of Congress and Supreme Court was also easy.

Even though this place is advertised for four people, Alec provided an air bed so our three boys slept in the bedroom with bunk beds and an air bed. It is not a big room, but they still had much more space in this apartment than they would have had in a hotel room. Everyone was comfortable.

We absolutely loved it and would definitely stay here again. Thank you, Alec!

Best DC trip ever!
5 of 5
For our annual "girl" trip, we selected Washington, DC and we were delighted with this town home. Everything was immaculate, including the baseboards. (I always look, and almost always am disappointed.). Alec, the owner, provided a terrific handbook that covered everything from the location of the shopping cart so we could look like locals, to the name of a limo service that transported us to the airport. He checked in with us the day of our arrival to ensure everything was as expected, which it was. The location could not have been better. We walked everywhere with just a couple of exceptions. We felt very safe, in part because of the high level of security in the area, but also because the town home is in a nice residential district. My husband, who was not with us, was so enthralled by my description of our trip, announced he wants to go to DC and stay at this charming town home next year! Fine with me! It's impossible to see all of DC in 6 days.

Perfect Home Away from Home!
5 of 5
My two pre-teen daughters and I stayed at this house. The description of the house is spot on and the Owner is very accessible and provides all necessary information and helpful tips! The owner provided umbrellas as it was raining during our stay.

The house was spotless when we arrived! I love how the lock is a keypad - so that I don't have to worry about losing the keys. And, if you are worried about security of the keypad, the house has a small mudroom with a second locking door.

The location was perfect - two blocks from Union Station in a quiet neighborhood! We took the Metro everywhere; the Smithsonian museums are around 2 miles away which makes for a long day of walking with two young kids. Security tip - share the vacation itinerary with your group in case you get separated on the Metro. It is VERY crowded during rush hour and the train operators don't wait for people when they close the doors. My oldest daughter got separated from the rest of us, but she was able to make her way to the right station to reconnect with us.

I read from the other reviews that people who rented cars parked them at Union Station. This was convenient as it is close, but keep in mind it cost $22/day. Also, if your flight is in the afternoon but have to check out of the house at 11am, you can check your baggage in at Union Station. Union Station is also the hub for all the big tours. We ended up taking the night time tour of the memorials since we ran out of time during the day.

The only inconvenience is taking out the trash (which is an acceptable task to stay in this home away from home). The patio that leads to the alley is raised without a ramp, so the garbage cans were a little difficult to wheel out when they were full. Another tip I would add is that the Owner might want to provide directions to the Washer/Dryer - I did a load of laundry but wasn't sure in which troth to place the detergent.

Overall - I definitely would recommend staying at this place when you are in Washington, D. C.!

Submitted: May 27, 2013 Stayed: May 2013

Owner's Response: The manual for the washer-dryer was lying up on top of them, but since that is quite high it can be hard to see. I will come up with some more visible spot such as a sleeve on the wall. I really appreciate practical suggestions like that, they allow us to constantly make little improvements that benefit future guests.

Having rented a lot of very nice houses for years now, this Capitol Hill House was the best one we ever had! It ticked off all the boxes. Lovely house, great furniture, excellent kitchen with all the equipement you can wish for. Wonderfull beds, and perfect location. Union Station is very near by, and you can walk to the Mall.

Bistro Italia just around the corner has wonderfull pizza's. For foodies the Union Market at 5th Street NE (about 15 minutes walk) is great! Small market with lovely, local, products. The cheeseplatters at Rigeous Cheese are very good!

Beautiful and very accomodating
5 of 5
This home was beautiful and comfortable! The pictures shown are exact, and we walked in to zero surprises. Everything in the historic home has been updated beautifully. One of my pet peeves with older locations are poor lighting and poor water pressure. Neither one was an issue in this location. All lights, faucets, etc are all very nice. The king bed in the very spacious master bedroom was very comfortable, and we found a linen closet complete with various extra pillows or pillows of varying firmness and density to accommodate almost anyone's needs.

The location is perfect - very convenient to Union Station, and an easy walk to the National Mall.

We were most impressed by the items available and thought taken to accommodate children. A crib, high chair, and permanent baby gate for the steep stairs were all very helpful as well as outlet covers throughout the house. We did find the crib positioned at the highest setting (safe for only young babies) and no tool to change it in the house. Out of fairness in my review, we didn't bother contacting the owner for any correction, and simply located an inexpensive tool on our own to correct the issue.

Our most impressive interaction with the home and owner was the genuine care Alec takes to ensuring our comfort and enjoyment, not just in his home, but throughout our stay. We visited the area at the exact time of the Federal Government Shutdown. Just prior to our arrival, we received an email with some expectations in the event of an actual shutdown. Once the circumstances were inevitable, we received the most impressive email from Alec detailed with hyperlinks to NUMEROUS attractions that remained open, both in Washington and in surrounding areas.

Choose this location for a visit to our Nation's Capital once our government finally gets their act together, and you won't be sorry (at least not with the comfort of the home). :)

Absolutamente recomendable, Gracias Alec!

Where do you live?
Perfect place for families!
5 of 5
This was our first time staying at a property vs a hotel and boy did it enhance our vacation! I chose this property based off the previous reviews as well as my interactions with Alec the owner. I had many questions and he always responded quickly with detail filled emails. The location couldn't have been more convenient for seeing the DC sights- 2 easy blocks from Union Station (spend the money on a hop on hop off tour, your feet will thank you), about a block from a small grocery store and 7/8 blocks from large grocery store (Giant) and the wonderful Eastern Market (must try the fresh ravioli from Eastern Grocery and the steaks/burgers from Union Meat Co.). Safe neighborhood, quiet streets by early evening. The property was simply beautiful. Spotless, well appointed, comfortable. Perfect set up for our family, 2 adults and 12 year old twin boys. The master bedroom is quite large with a nice flatscreen TV and large closet. The smaller bedroom has twin beds, bureau and a crib which Alec stored away for us. The beds can also be set up as bunk beds. The linens and pillows were wonderful. The full bathroom was a nice size, and included a Bosch washer/dryer set. The first floor bath was smaller but bright and had a separate heater. Great water pressure and Alec supplied toliet paper as well as a high end set of starter toiletries. The kitchen was a cook's dream. Not only were the appliances modern, but the supplies included allowed me to cook up breakfasts and dinners like a pro. Nice gas grill in the fenced in back yard, we used twice, full tank of propane. Some may avoid cooking on vacation but with facilities so nice it was a treat. Another nice flat screen TV in the living room along with a Blu Ray player. High speed wi-fi and a Bose Wave radio in the kitchen made post sightseeing chill time a breeze. The 3 umbrellas provided were PRICELESS as our stay included some nasty chilly rain. The House Book provided for guests was very helpful and includes a taxi driver recommendation. We used the service for a ride back to the airport and couldn't have been happier with the clean minivan and friendly and professional driver, Hamid. We highly recommend this property and look forward to booking again!

Exceeded expectations!

This property and this vacation exceeded our expectations! Alec was amazing throughout the entire process. We had the pleasure of meeting him and he is so nice! You will be very happy if you pick this house. The neighborhood is historic, beautiful, and safe. It is an easy walk to the Metro and the National Mall area. The Metro is easy to navigate, great for transport to and from the airport, and runs efficiently. The house has everything you will need. Linens, cookware, umbrellas, Wifi...it had it all. There is a Giant Grocery store within a short walk from the house. Peapod also delivers. We had amazing Cheeseburgers at The Good Time Eatery which is approx 15 min walk from the house. The house was spotless upon arrival. We are still "walking on cloud 9" from the greatest vacation! Thanks Alec!

A Gem in Washington DC

What a fantastic 2 storey townhouse. It is only 3 blocks from union station in central Washington DC. I stayed here with my wife, and 2 teenage children, and we all agreed it was the best place we stayed at during our 3 week trip to the USA, I would highly recommend this place, for both couples and families.

Excellent location , impecably clean and well mantained. The owner Alec was VERY helpfull and had good recomendations to make. We highly recomend this property as it is very comfortable, vvery well located , on a ellegant quiet street, with everything one might need close at hand. We used the bicycles which are parked just down the road, which made going round the mall very pleasent ! The market is not to be missed on weekends! Highly recommendable!!!

As advertised!

This house suited our needs perfectly for a 5 day family visit to DC (2 adults, 2 teens). It was clean, comfortable and centrally located. The location was excellent; Union Stn. really is only about 10 mins. walk if that making it very easy to use Metrorail to get around DC. There is a large supermarket about 10 mins. walk in another direction. Our plan to 'lunch out' at the museums and 'dinner in' worked well giving us time to relax in the evenings after walking most of the day. The kitchen has all the tools to make simple pre-packaged meals or more involved meals. Alec, the owner, provided well organized and useful information which helped us maximize our time in DC; we used many of his suggestions (fresh pasta from Eastern Market, burgers from Good Stuff Eatery). Staying in such ideal accommodations enriched our stay in Washington DC.

Our stay was great! The home is comfortable and well equipped. The location is convenient for walking or accessing the metro from Union Station.

The owner, Alec, was pleasant and responded to all communications/questions with a quick response and detailed answer.

We highly recommend this property that worked well for a couple, but is also suitable for a family.

Beautiful House, Perfect Location
5 of 5
Loved this house. Our party of 4, including our two boys 10 and 12, had a great time. The house is exactly as described and conveniently located to Union Station (about a 5 to 10 minute stroll) where you can pick up any number of transportation options or a bike. We loved to be able to take the metro out to the Smithsonian museums and sort of meander our way back towards the house. You can hit any of the Museums on the mall and then pop into the Museum of the American Indian and get some great food at Mitsitam Café. From the Museum of the American Indian it is about a 30 minute walk through the Botanical Gardens and the grounds of the Capitol building to get back to house. If anything it gets more and more beautiful as you leave the mall area, crossing through the Capitol, passing by the Supreme Court and finally into the Capitol Hill residential area itself. If you like old houses and neighborhoods like I do, you will find it enjoyable just to walk around the neighborhood. It’s safe and despite its proximity to the Mall area it is really peaceful and quite.

Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the review! I just thought I would point out to future guests that, while it is true you can pick up public bicycles at Union Station, they are also available only 100 yards from the house at the intersection of D Street and Maryland Avenue NE. They are probably the best way around town, and our street, like most on the hill, has a bike lane.

Thanksgiving Trip to DC

Our family of three had a wonderful stay at this property. Booking the property was straightforward and any questions I had were answered promptly by the owner. Check-in was easy and the house was very clean and inviting. The property is very close to Union Station for easy access to the Metro. We also easily walked to the Capital and the attractions and restaurants nearby. The Good Stuff Eatery has delicious food and it should be on your list of where to eat in DC. After a long day of walking and seeing the Smithsonian’s and monuments it was wonderful to have this comfortable, inviting house to return to. The washer and dryer is a nice addition -- you don't have to pack as much! I would highly recommend this rental to my friends and family. We look forward to our next stay in DC and will definitely be renting this house when we return.

Beautiful Townhouse, Centrally located

This townhouse is centrally located, beautifully decorated, fully equipped and well maintained. Alec was a most gracious host. He provides tons of information and great advice for a pleasant vacation experience. We would definitely stay in this, or any one of Alec's other 4 Capitol Hill Townhouses again. This townhouse is within walking distance of Union Station and The Capital Building. We used the Metro and easily traveled everywhere we wanted to go, including Arlington Cemetery, The White House, Georgetown University, George Washington University, The Kennnedy Center, the Smithsonian and every monument you can think of. Fabulous vacation, fabulous townhouse, fabulous host.

Excellent Location for a 1st Time Visitor
5 of 5
This was a perfect location for our 1st time visit to our nations capital. Stayed a week with my wife and 2 kids(ages 25 and 21). Alec made the visit easy because he had a handy pamphlet emailed to use prior to our visit. In it you will find everything about the house, transportation, restaurants, sites to visit, etc, prior to getting to DC. This manual was in my back pocket everywhere we went. Union Station(public transportation hub) was about a 10 min walk and easy to find. We went there for a quick bite to eat only because we walked everywhere. We used the Metro only once just for curiosity sakes. We wanted to use the bikes but the 1 time we tried there was only 1 left(out of 24). Not a big deal because we just wanted to try it and wasn't relying on it for our main mode of transportation. We did have a problem with our ceiling fan and Alec was very responsive in getting it fixed. The house is beautiful and the modern kitchen made cooking very easy. We made all of our breakfasts' and most of our dinners there. Getting to the supermarkets were a snap. We had lunch on the run at locations pointed out in the pamphlet given to us. We will definitely recommend the "Yellow House"(as Alec calls it) to people looking for somewhere to stay in DC and we will definitely return. Thanks Alec for keeping the house in great shape. It was a home away from home.

Great location, great town home for our family
5 of 5
We stayed here Spring Break week which also ended up being the week that ended with the Cherry Blossom festival. Thank goodness we were able to walk almost everywhere because the traffic was unbelievable. The town home was lovely and very clean. It looked like it had been recently renovated and was quite nicely done. The bedding was comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped and easy to use. Unlike other vacation rentals, the stove was great, the cookware and utensils were nice and there was plenty of dinnerware. The grill was easy to use and did a good job. We ate at Cafe Berlin and it was excellent German food. We also ate at Bistro Cacao which was to die for. They had probably the best French Onion soup I've ever eaten. Both of these restaurants were truly right around the corner and they accommodated our son's need for gluten free We walked to Union Station almost every day for one reason or another but caught tour bus rides, etc. there. Staying in this town home was so much better and more economical for our 6 night visit. Loved it and would definitely stay here again!

Great house!
5 of 5
My family of four stayed here on a recent vacation to DC. Our party included my husband and I, our 13 year old son and 11 year old daughter.

First of all, the location was excellent. We were about four blocks away from the Union Station metro--very convenient. We were also within walking distance of the Capital, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress. We always felt very safe walking around, even at night. There is a small grocery store a couple of blocks away and a larger grocery approximately 7 blocks away.

The house itself was wonderful. Very updated in all areas. The kitchen was pretty large for the size of house and had newer appliances. We used all of them (including the grill outside) at one time or the other and they all worked well. Be aware that the grill isn't a large grill but a smaller family sized one. It was hot while we were in town and the air-conditioning worked great. We actually didn't even turn on the downstairs unit. Running the upstairs unit kept the downstairs cool enough for us.

The only down side to this property was the size of the living room furniture. Because of size constraints, it was on the small size and not great for lounging if all four of us were in there.

Alec was very responsive to any issue we had (we only had one) and took care of things quickly. I would not hesitate to stay here again!

Nice property, great location

We stayed for one week in June. The house was very nice inside, just like the photos show. It was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was updated and easy to use. Access to the metro at Union Station was easy, and there are several restaurants in Union Station. We also took a tour of Gettysburg using Viator. The tour left from the parking garage behind Union Station.

We liked the house, and hope to be able to stay again on our next visit.

Alec was easy to work with, and provided a lot of information to make our stay go well. I would highly recommend his properties.

Preciosa propiedad, excelente ubicacion.

Altamente recomendable

We visited D.C. with school aged children for Fall Break. We found the property to be nicely appointed, well maintained, and comfortable. We were within walking distance or a short Uber ride from all of our planned activities. The property owner was quick to respond to any and all questions and was able to extend our check out time to accommodate a late departure. We would definitely recommend this property!

Took me a year to finally write this. One word to describe our stay: Excellent. Place was exactly as advertised. Easy walk to all the sights, and a stone's through from the Metro if you don't need the exercise. Alec was absolutely the best to deal with. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

We absolutely enjoyed our stay in your beautiful townhouse.

The location was so convenient and we walked every evening around Capital Hill and to Union Station. The kitchen was amazing. It is good to be home but it was very difficult to leave your home. The beds were so comfortable and every amenity that we could need was at our fingertips. Thank you for making our stay so comfortable.

We stayed with our two elementary school age daughters. It was perfect, just as described. Clean, quiet, comfortable and beautiful. We walked to everything or took the Circulator bus to/from Union Station, which is just a couple blocks away. Very close restaurants and shops made meals easy to manage for travel-tired kiddos. It was a great experience!
