Description from owner

What’ll it be this morning? A round of golf at the Maggie Valley Country Club, or maybe a scenic drive with the family to ooh and aah at the sunset-colored fall foliage on the Blue Ridge Parkway? Some boating on Lake Junaluska, or snowboarding at Cataloochee Ski Resort, followed by a mug of cocoa in the hot tub?

Maybe another cup of coffee by the crackling fire while you think it over. This is your vacation, after all, and at Everview, you’ve got all the time in the world.

1. Because there’s nothing like the Great Smoky Mountains in the fall, and Everview has 360-degree vistas from its two-story back and front decks. Because you’re only minutes from the slopes in winter and a short drive from Sliding Rock--nature’s funnest waterslide--in the summer.

2. Because our 4-bedroom cabin’s open layout and smartly designed master suites give you family time when you want it, privacy when you don’t.

3. And because you don’t need to overthink your vacation. Everview comes stocked with everything you need to feel at home, from shampoo and conditioner to olive oil and laundry detergent.

Wake up in one of TWO main-level master suites, each equipped with its own full bath and luxurious king beds made up with the coziest Egyptian cotton sheets. Start your morning with breakfast on the open-concept main level, with its stone fireplace, breakfast bar, and formal dining room.

Spend the day exploring the great outdoors or shopping in town, and unwind in a rocking chair on the back deck with a glass of wine as the stars twinkle into view.

By evening, leave the lower level to the kids. The downstairs den has its own fireplace, books, games, and an HDTV to keep them entertained for hours before they retreat to the 2 lower-level bedrooms: one with a queen bed, the other with two twins.

Planning activities for a group can be a challenge, but not at Everview, which is nestled into the mountains of Western North Carolina, just outside of Waynesville. Foodies can eat their way through nearby Asheville, just 30 minutes away, where each restaurant is better than the last and a new craft brewery seems to crop up every week. History buffs are only 30 miles from the awe-inspiring Biltmore Estate. And thrill-seekers are perfectly positioned to explore the region’s best mountain biking, downhill skiing, zip-lining, white water rafting, boating and more.

And did we mention there are five golf courses within 12 miles of the house? Or just stick close to Waynesville for a Main Street, USA experience -- we’ve got a whole list of our favorite local spots to share with you when arrive. With eye-popping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Everview puts the excitement of Western NC at your fingertips.

About the area

Nestled amid the peaks and valleys of the Great Smoky Mountains, Western North Carolina is an area of great scenic beauty, of history and tradition, of friendly people. The climate is superb; the way of life is relaxed and unhurried. There are fine restaurants, unique shopping, varied recreational and cultural opportunities, and no shortage of attractions and activities to enjoy. The natural, untouched beauty of the Pisgah National Forest, Nantahala National Forest and Great Smoky Mountains National Park provides a spectacular backdrop to a thriving mountain culture known internationally for its unique folk music, dancing and craftwork. Western North Carolina includes some of the highest peaks east of the Rocky Mountains and features many of the most scenic drives in the country, including the 250-mile Blue Ridge Parkway, which winds through the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Beyond its lovely scenery, the natural setting provides endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, from hiking to mountain biking to whitewater rafting to fly-fishing. WAYNESVILLE The county seat of Haywood County is 30 miles west of Asheville. Located just off I-40, it is close enough to Asheville to attract commuters, but distant enough to maintain a small-town feel. In Where to Retire Magazine, it was called a low-cost Eden, the best main street town and best mountain town. Waynesville is very walkable downtown features art galleries, cafes and restaurants, specialty shops and services amid quaint buildings and brick-lined sidewalks. MAGGIE VALLEY Known as a recreational escape, the resort area of Maggie Valley proves outdoor adventure throughout the year from hiking, rafting, kayaking, rock climbing and horseback riding during the summer months to skiing, snowboarding and now tubing in the winter. Just three miles off the Blue Ridge Parkway and close the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Reviewed 25 May 2016

Communication was great, we knew what to expect upon our arrival. The owners have thought of everything. Upon entry there are the wonderful views from along the entire rear of the building. Wonderfully well maintained and supper clean home. Quiet neighborhood, fully stocked kitchen, clean hot tub warmed and ready to be used upon arrival, a wonderful area down stairs for the kids. We had coffee on the back deck from the master suite and enjoyed Gods wonderful creations. Games in the Garage, Comfortable furniture, plenty of parking, close to the highway.....wow is a word that I heard a lot from my Mother who was visiting from California. You will not be disappointed....

Owner's reply: Thanks for your wonderful review our home. We've tried to make sure families have what they're looking for on their mountain getaways and we're happy you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate you taking good care of our place and welcome you back anytime.

Incredible views...and SUPER clean!
Date of Stay
December 3, 2015

This property was the perfect setting to get together with two other couples and their families for the weekend. Marilyn and her husband had thought of everything we needed and I mean everything - from a highchair to a baby gate to every kitchen utensil one could need! The house was clean and inviting. I really have no complaints but did want to mention two things that are most likely beyond the owner's control but would be worth considering when booking - 1) temperature: the living room area was toasty and perfect but we found the room temperatures (upstairs and downstairs) to be somewhat challenging to adjust. In our case, we had the fireplace going earlier in the day and so, in the evening, with toddlers sleeping in pack-n-plays in closets, etc - we struggled to control the actual bedroom temps. Had we not run the fireplace in the early evening...we might have found the temperature something that we could easily manage. 2) Trash removal on a Sunday. This property requires trash to be removed and taking to an alternative site on your way out of town. If you don't move it, you can be charged a fee. However, all the sites listed are closed on Sunday. We, thankfully, hadn't accumulated too much but it was one more thing to load up into the car at the end of the weekend and have to get creative about where to dump it. Just something to consider if you are staying through a Sunday. All in all, we loved this place! When a place is clean and the owners have pre-thought the details for you, you really can't ask for more...but in this case, you got more anyway with great views and easy access to nature. Book it...you won't regret it!

My Response
Thank you for your wonderful review of our home. I understand the issue you mentioned about the room temperature and that is definitely something beyond our control. Since the main living area has a lot of windows and French doors, the sunlight that streams in helps warm that area up. Also, the fireplace is very efficient and once you turn it on, it gets warmer still making the other rooms feel even cooler. The lower levels are always going to be cooler in mountain homes. There is an additional fireplace downstairs that can be used to help keep that area warm in the winter. As far as the trash, I advise all of my guests who are scheduled to check out on Sunday to please make sure to dispose of as much of it as they can by Saturday as the sites are closed. Please see the email I sent with the check-in instructions. It is in the second paragraph. Mountain homes don't have access to regular trash pick-up. Our housekeeper has a very small car which she uses to transport all of her cleaning supplies and tools leaving no room for trash bags. So that is why we ask all of our guests to discard it before checking out. But that is one inconvenience I gladly welcome for the chance to spend time at Everview. I hope these minor details won't preclude you from staying at Everview again. Any season during the year is a wonderful mountain getaway there and hopefully we can add you to our list of happy returning guests!

Fantastic, amazing and breathtaking views and an awesome vacation house

Date of Stay

This is the best vacation house that we have ever stayed in. The rental is maintained to a very high standard. All the finishes from the kitchen to bathroom are just awesome. The bathrooms are so big and high end and fully stocked. The backyard is another winner. The whole gated community has beautiful landscaping and lawnmowing and maintained amazingly. Our kids had wonderful time playing ball and running outside in the vast sloping backyard with a view of horses right next to it. The house also had a big collection of dvds for both adults and kids. My son was thrilled to see his favorite DVDs of elmo and max ruby. The owner of the rental is a very sweet lady and was very helpful and quick to reply to our e-mails. We definitely would love to come back for our next vacation to this same rental.

My Response
Thank you so much for the lovely review! You and your family were a pleasure to deal with. We're so happy to know that we were a hit with your son as well. We appreciate you taking such good care of our home. Please let me know when you're ready to return. Any season at Everview makes for a wonderful mountain getaway.

Great Mountain Getaway
Date of Stay
October 14, 2015

This was our first time renting Everview and we were not disappointed. This house is as advertised. My wife and I have traveled all over western North Carolina over the years, and we have not seen any better views than what can be seen from Everview Drive. The house was immaculately clean and had everything you could need for a few days away. We enjoyed visiting Waynesville and dined at The Tipping Point Tavern, Bogarts and Angelos. All were fantastic restaurants. We attended the Apple Harvest festival in downtown Waynesville on Saturday and had a blast. I would definitely recommend this house to my family and friends, and we are looking forward to a return trip ourselves.

My Response
Thank you for taking the time to share with others the wonderful time you had a Everview. I agree that those are some of the best views around, especially during peak leaf season. Let me know when you're ready to return. We would love to have you become a part of our loyal guests.

I spent the most incredible week in this home with my daughter and my sister. This is heaven. It s a 10 or 15 minute drive from town and 30 minutes from forests and trails, restaurants and all other amenities. The bed was comfy and the home was cozy. Great internet and phone reception. The most peaceful time in I do not remember how long, I found myself mesmerized by the nature that surrounded us, the mountains and the flowers, the horses whose trail through the hills I followed daily, the happy cows that roamed freely on the grassy fields. I ventured to the back of the house where every now and then a bunny rabbit ate grass and the birds sang. The sunrises and the sunsets. I guess all living creatures around were aware of their good fortune. I know I was. Till next time, Marilyn.

Thank you, Ana! What a beautiful way to describe the area that surrounds our home. It seems like you're in a different world when you're there and it gives everyone a chance to forget about the real one for just a bit. We're happy you had an opportunity to relax and recharge. We'll be glad to have you back anytime.

We LOVE this place!

This was our second time renting Everview. We spent three weeks in this gorgeous house with the most amazing views! You can't help but relax as you get to the top of the road by the gates and enter into the development as you see the view coming into site! We have a 2 year old daughter. This place is GREAT if you have children! Its a safe area, has the pack n play, high chair and lots of places for them to play! Having the downstairs den was perfect for us as a family as we could sleep in upstairs whilst downstairs could be a playroom! The hot tub was IMMACULATELY clean and felt like we were the first people to ever use it! We loved the ability to drive the cars straight into the large oversize garage and then enter the house from the basement. It made those transfers of a sleeping toddler so much easier late at night! This is a home that we are making great memories in! We've already got a booking in for 2016!

Thank you, Iain, for such a lovely review. We love hosting you and your family. And knowing that you are traveling such a great distance with your child and next year children, we want to make sure you have everything you need without having to pack extra items. Also, so glad your parents will also get to enjoy Everview in 2016. We're hoping it's the start of a great family tradition!

Everview is the best home we have ever rented. Luxury at an affordable price! This home is furnished with everything needed - a home away from home. The views are wonderful. We awoke to the mountains, horses & an occasional "moo" in the morning. What a great way to unwind. It was well maintained & the housekeeper does a wonderful job! I walked on the hardwoods barefoot - nothing on the bottom of my feet...lol! Marilyn was a great home owner, very helpful. Everview will be our "go to" home when visiting the mountains!

Wow! We appreciate your review of our home and agree with everything you wrote. We fell in love with the house and the area when we were looking for a place that we could share with our family and friends for years to come. I believe we found the perfect fit and are happy to allow others to experience it. We are very grateful for our housekeepers who do such a fine job in maintaining it while we are away. So happy to know that a friend who also stayed with you had such a great time that he contacted me the night you checked out to come back in October. Looking forward to having you all as repeat guests.

First time renting

Date of Stay
June 13, 2015

This was our first time renting a vacation home instead of a hotel room. We were a little apprehensive, but as soon as we arrived we knew we made a great choice. Everview is a beautiful home with breathtaking mountain views. It was very clean and we were amazed at how well equipped it was. Everything you could possibly need was provided. Marilyn (the owner) did such a wonderful job leaving instructions on how to use everything from the tv's (with Directv and Neo TV streaming boxes) to the hot tub. There were plenty of board games, outdoor games and books and movies to keep the whole family busy. We are a family of five with a 3, 8 and 10 year old. They had such an amazing time that they didn't want to leave. We stayed 3 nights, but we could have easily stayed longer. It was so nice to have a baby gate and pack and play crib for our 3 year old. We ate out in a few local restaurants, but eating in was the kids favorite. The kitchen was completely stocked with all of the pots, pans, silverware, dishes, cutting boards, utensils etc... It made cooking just as easy as if we were at home. It was a special treat to sit out on the deck with a bottle of wine and watch the gorgeous sunset behind the mountains followed by a visit from the fireflies. We hope to be able to come back. Until then we have some amazing memories of Everview.

My Response
Thank you for your wonderful comments! My family and I try to provide everything we can so that our guests can enjoy their vacation without having to pack or buy items to make their stay complete. You are there to enjoy the mountains and the area's attractions and activities and want to make that as stress-free as possible. You know how to find us when you're ready to return.

The Everview is nicely nestled on a hill top in a gated community. It had everything that a traveler would need and more. For families with kids they got games & a high chair too, for adults there's TV with cable, for those into cooking all the utensils in the kitchen & a grill with 2 propane tanks. They even had zip lock bags for us to pack any left overs for our drive back home. Did I mention the hot tub? It was amazingly clean and was set to right temperature for us to just dive in and forget about everything else. I always used to think, when travelling to any tourist destination, the place where you stay should not matter as long as you have a clean bed, but this place changed my perception and made my trip to Smokies a memorable one.

Weekend in Waynesville

Date of Stay
April 24, 2015

8 members of my family stayed very comfortably in this beautiful home for a 2 day weekend. We where in the Waynesville area to attend a wedding. The home is furnished very nicely with all the amenities you would need to enjoy a good nights sleep as well as for cooking. Plus I believe I counted 4 TV's plenty of games, a beautiful Hot Tub, and it is located in a secluded area with a gate. The views of the mountains all around are gorgeous. Marilyn is very easy to work with and went out of her way to make sure we where cared for. I would certainly recommend this home to anyone visiting the Waynesville/Ashville area. We would stay again.

Oasis In The Mountains

Date of Stay
January 16, 2015

My wife and I, along with two other couples, had the most amazing time at this property. The pictures of this house speak for themselves, but don't even begin to do it justice. There was more than enough space for the six of us. Each couple had their own bedroom and private bathroom. There were multiple big screen TV's with DirecTV to watch the games. The massive kitchen opens up to the main living area allowing us to cook and visit at the same time. We had everything we needed, including a grill and, of course, a hot tub. Our host, Marilyn, was nothing short of awesome. From the moment we checked in she made herself available via phone for any questions or concerns. But the best part of this place is the location. It's surrounded by sweeping mountain views in every direction while being a short drive to Asheville, Cherokee Casino, and Cataloochee Ski Area. There are also plenty of gorgeous hiking trails at the nearby Smoky Mountain National Park. We couldn't have been happier with our experience and look forward to staying here again!

My Response
Wow! Thank you so much for such a great review. I appreciate you taking the time to write it up so that our future guests know what to expect. I can't wait to get back there myself this spring, sit back on those rockers, and take in the views. Let me know when you're ready to experience Everview again. The summer is a great time to visit as well.

Felt Right At Home

As soon as we arrived to Everview we felt right at home with a nice cozy feeling. Everything was very clean and inviting. We found everything we could've needed for cooking and plenty of dishes and plates for our group of 7 adults. Fresh clean sheets and towels were available as well We only wished we could've spent more time as we spent most of one day at Cataloochee Resort which was a beautiful drive there and back and not too far either. The views from both sides of the house were beautiful as well (including the beautiful horses we got to see from the back porch) Lots of sitting area so our whole group got to be together the whole time in the upstairs kitchen/living room/ dining area which we enjoyed most of the time. The owners were great! Marilyn stayed in touch with us the whole time and answered any questions we had. Thank you again for our wonderful stay!

We truly appreciate your review of our home. As I mentioned by phone, you should try to come back in the summer or fall when there are even more activities and attractions to experience. Hopefully, you'll be able to stay a little longer and have some down time in the hot tub or just relaxing on the porch rockers. Hope to hear from you again.

The views were incredible and the house was super cozy. It comes well stocked with everything you could possibly need. One of the neighbors owned horses, so every morning my three year old would wake up run to the porch and start neighing. LOL. My husband and I are adventure seekers so we loved being right on top of this beautiful mountain. We exploded caves and national Parks, Biltmore house (Amazing), and chimney Rock/ Hickory Waterfall (1.6 mile hike round-trip). The driving was a little much with little kids, but manageable. I would recommend renting this house to anyone looking for an adventure or for anyone who just wants to relax and take in the beautiful views. Good Luck and have fun!
