Description of the Waynesville vacation cottage rental
The "Apple Orchard Riverfront Cottage"

Just a quick block off the Interstate and not too far from Asheville you soon find yourself traveling quietly through an apple orchard on a quaint narrow mountain road which suddenly explodes into a riverfront vista complete with rushing rapids right in the front yard of a truly lovely cottage surrounded by plant pots filled with vegetation and glorious blossoming flowers, weather permitting. You're smiling and haven't even parked the car yet. Off to the right you will see the challenge of a bright new shuffleboard court (final planning stage) beckoning some good old family competition later, and think what a nice way to bring everyone together. To enhance the experience you find an exterior deck right off the living room that affords a more leisurely opportunity to sit and reflect on this lovely river view while the sounds of rushing waters subtlety background your relaxed conversation with loved ones. As you eventually return inside to a colorful gathering room filled with endless hardwood floors and luscious warm room colors you enjoy the warmth of a flickering fire in a room filled with family and friends. You're now in the "Apple Orchard Riverfront Cottage".

Inside you soon discover three large bedrooms with amazingly comfortable beds and two beautiful spotless bathrooms, complete with hardwood floors. Throughout the cottage wonderful eclectic furnishings hand selected by caring, keen eyes continue to intrigue and peak both your interest and curiosity. Your exploration soon finds a wonderfully bright and cheerful, newly-remodeled kitchen well equipped and filled with just about any type of gadgetry required to prepare the tastiest hors d'oeuvres or a gourmet meal for eight. Nothing has been left to wishful thinking. A beautiful kitchen island topped in mountain hardwood beckons you to sit, sip coffee or open a bottle of wine to quietly linger and savior this moment. No kids for a moment, just the two of you.

And as you sit and sip, be it coffee or wine, to ponder the day's potential; you realize how many wonderful opportunities await you here in the Great Smoky Mountains. You may decide to take a long leisurely walk right here at home along almost a mile of river frontage and ending in the apple orchards or bee hive stands where you might buy apples, peaches and honey. Perhaps you decide a quick drive into Asheville for a leisurely day of exploring the Biltmore or The Grove Park Inn, or all the neat restaurants and shops. For those more inclined to physical activity you might find yourself planning on rafting the rapids or tubing right in front of your cottage or zip lining the tree canopies near Asheville, or all the above. In fall, you may want to hike the mountain trails to view the vivid fall colors, knowing it's a must see. And later in the year you may plan on the challenge of skiing the slopes of Cataloochee, just minutes away.

Regardless of your choice of so many varied things to do and see, one thing is truly certain: you ultimately will enjoy coming home again and again to the warmth and caring found nestled in your lovely home away from home, the "Apple Orchard Riverfront Cottage".

Great time

Had a great time. Plenty of room for my five sisters and me. My sister, Connie, straightened the cabinets and silver wear drawers. Julie folded all towels and organized hall cabinet. Nice place to do laundry.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Riverfront Cottage!! The property was so beautiful and even though it was secluded,, it was close to everything. The house was great with everything we needed. We were impressed with the addition to the older part of house. Very well done!! It was so cozy and homey! Loved sitting outside and listening to the River!!! We will definitely be back!!

We loved everything about this place! The house is quaint and homey but the rooms are big so there is room for more than one family. The kitchen has everything you need. It is a perfect location at the end of a gravel street, next to the river. There is no traffic and the only people we saw are the owners of the apple orchard next to it. They are very friendly. We sat outside a lot and enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. We would recommend it to our friends and family! It's also very convenient to Asheville and Waynesville.

Living in a great 1850 cabin on the shores of a big bold river was a wonderful experience. This home has been very nicely remodeled to fit the expectations of the modern world. The weather was clear but quite cold...we had some chilly evenings in the older part of the cabin but it was quite refreshing to sleep under the quilts like the old days. The rooms were big, plenty of storage/closet space and good seating in the family room. On our 2nd evening we built a bonfire in the firepit to roast marshmallows and make s'mores....what a great memory! The wood was supplied and already stacked on the back porch. This cabin sits on a large private parcel with incredible views and frontage on the river. It was like you are transported back in time. Plenty of parking and room to roam. We would certainly consider coming back in the summer when it would be more fun to explore and play on the rivers edge. Thank you Thad and Marilyn for the wine, for a very well stocked pantry and linens and for being great Landlords for a few days. Have a wonderful 2016! The Adcocks & extended family

The Riverfront Cottage in Canton NC was wonderful! The river was just outside the door! If the weather had been a little warmer, I probably would have gotten in! We visited several towns within an hours drive and had a great time shopping in them all. There were only two of us, but there was plenty of room for lots more people. The décor was beautiful, and we felt like we were "Home Away From Home"!

I decided last minute to get away for one night to celebrate my wife's birthday. I was fortunate enough to come across this cottage while searching for rentals one-night rentals that allow pets in the Asheville area. The entire family enjoyed our time at this river front oasis. Just a mile or so off the highway and you'd never know it. Once you're there, you have nothing but beautiful views and the calming sound of the river running just down the hill from the house. The cottage is cozy and inviting, with all of the amenities you'd want. We will definitely rent this property again!
