Lake George is three miles south by boat, and it has long been known as the "Bass Capital of the World". In days gone by, Spanish gallions sailed to the mouth of Lake George for fresh water and rice from a native settlement on an island that pre-dates St. Augustine. History and romance await you here at Pauline's Paradise. If you aren't into fishing - the birds, view and an occasional manatee under the dock will just add to your enjoyment of this vacation paradise.

About the area

This private and secluded water front property is located in southern Putnam County, nestled in the middle of the historic Fruitland Cove. Just to the south is Georgetown, where the St. Johns River enters Big Lake George. A short boat ride in either direction you will find Silver Glen Springs, Salt Springs and the Ocklawaha River. South Putnam County is like the old Florida of yesterday. The Oak canapies, the scenery along the water, and the absence of traffic and noise make Putnam County a little slice of paradise to many. It was here that Marjorie Kinnan Rawling wrote, "If I could have and hold forever, one brief place of beauty, I think I might choose the night on that high bank above the St. Johns River." Whether this is a regular vacation spot or a new one, I would like to extend a warm welcome to you. Pauline

“Charming getaway was picture perfect!”

From the moment we arrived, we knew we made the right choice! The quaint cottage was clean and cozy! Nicely decorated and well appointed with all that you could wish for. The owner is super sweet and will go out of her way to make you feel relaxed and comfortable with not a care in the world! Just start enjoying the peaceful dock with fishing or watching the sunset. Conveniently located for us between friends and Palatka for the Crab Festival and wonderful shopping. Thanks Pauline, We will definitely be back!

Owner's reply: Terry, wow what a review! I enjoyed meeting you guys as much as you enjoyed the cottage. It was so great things worked out the way they did with you meeting up with friends you hadn't seen in so long. Can't wait till you visit again. Pauline Dunn

The place was dirty. No cable. No jacuzzi despite claims. Pauline refused to refund our money when we arrived and saw what disrepair the place was in. I would not recommend this place

Had an awesome time. Very quaint little cabin. Just like you're staying at your favorite aunt's house. The owner Pauline is an absolute delight. Our son had a wonderful time fishing off of the dock and playing with the crabs and we were even able to keep our boat right there in the boat house. Looking forward to a future visit!

We booked the small cottage for the last week in March after spending 2 weeks in southern Florida. It was a clean, cozy little cottage and although you can't really see the water from it ( the larger cottage is in front of it blocking the view), it was a very short walk to the dock which was very pleasant. We enjoyed sitting out on the dock in the evening with the owner and enjoying the peace and quiet. This is a very rural area in Florida - no traffic! There is a state park 3 miles down the road which had really good walking trails and we took a day trip to St Augustine which was only about 1 1/2 hrs away. If you are OK with a studio cottage this is a great place to stay.

Owner's reply: Christy, thank you for the nice review. I would like to thank Mr. Fogg for his help with the sofa. I enjoyed having you here as my guest. I'm sorry you missed the view of the river through the French doors. I've never had anyone say that. Regardless I hope you visit again soon! Ms. Dunn

Very small, clean one room cabin with kitchen and living area somewhat separate from bed. Nice bathroom with separate shower and jucuzzi tub as well as washer and drier. There is another larger house between it and the river, but easy access to the dock. Fruit trees in the yard make nice breakfast. This is a rural setting with a few restaurants nearby in Welaka and Cresent City. Visit Blue Springs, ride the 2 car ferry to Salt Springs, drive to the Orlando area for stuff to do. Very peaceful place to stay and fish.

Owner's reply: Elizabeth, I just want to thank you for much for the very nice review. I do hope you will return for a visit in the near future. Being the dog lover that I am I enjoyed your lab. Go ahead and refer my home to some of your friends in the North I'm so happy you enjoyed the River! Pauline

My wife and I stayed in the river house the last week of October. It was a great vacation, nice house on the river with great views. We took our pontoon boat and spent the days on the river fishing and sight seeing. It is a beautiful place to visit. The evenings we spent fishing off the dock. This place is the perfect getaway for anyone who loves being outdoors.

I had a wonderful three night stay at Paulines Paradise. Stayed in the "river house". All the comforts of home, a beautiful view of the river, a large dock for both fishing and lounging, and a great host in Pauline. A gorgeous location on a great river.

Owner's reply: David had shared with me that he had been look for a quite private place that he could have soom down time a loan . And he found the wright place. He said that he would love to come back and bring his wife next time. Thank you so much for your visit.Pauline.

Oh my, I can't tell you how much we enjoyed our stay! My husband woke up this morning and was in near tears because we leave at the end of the week. If you like to fish (granted we didn't catch much, but I didn't want to clean them anyway!), love peace and quiet and you like your partner - this is a little piece of heaven! If you need more room, the river house adjacent to the cottage is beautiful.

The cottage is one room with a bathroom, huge tub and heavenly shower. Dishwasher, washer/dryer, place to put the boat, sit on the dock or patio. Quiet neighbors in the river house, close places to eat out or just cook in the fully functional kitchen. Close to wonderful activities - the Kennedy Space Center was our favorite - we spent 2 days there and even saw a satellite launch - Wow! Got to a Twins game for Spring Training and saw our son down here for spring break/baseball in Plant city.
.
Picked and squeezed fresh grapefruits, lemons and oranges. Tons of birds, wildlife. The weather was wonderful.

Cell phone access is limited, but wireless internet access works fine. Cell phones do work outside and sometimes inside - was not a big deal for us, we just used the land line if we had to make a call out or waited till we were out of the area. Wide screen TV and Xfinity services.

Pauline is a hoot! Will do anything to make your stay comfortable. We will be back next year

My husband and I loved our stay at this property so much the first time that we have been there twice. We were able to dock our jet ski behind the house and be ready to ride early in the morning. We had breakfast on the dock and enjoyed the peace and quiet. The owner made sure we had everything that we needed and was great help with places to ride and to enjoy great meals. If you are interested in a place to get away from it all and enjoy nature, you have found the right place.
