Area Information
Fishing
Webb Lake has excellent fishing for smallmouth bass and brown trout. Bass can be caught around rocks in 3-10 ft of water using worms and subsurface plastic baits. Trout can be caught trolling in front of the many stream mouths on the drop offs.

The Webb River also has good fishing for bass, brown, and brook trout and can be accessed at many points on the road to Dixfield.

For salmon and brook trout try the Rangeley area. There are many lakes, rivers, and guides. .

Golf
There is a nice 9 hole golf course (Wilson Lake CC) on RT 156 just as you enter the Town of Wilton on the right side of the road (about 20 minutes from Weld). There is also Mingo Springs in Rangeley and the world famous Sugarloaf Golf Course near Kingfield.

Hiking
Weld is famous for its many hiking trails. There is some literature in the camp and a placard on the kitchen wall describing the many trails. Bald Mountain off RT 156 toward Wilton is an easy 90 minute hike. Mt Blue has a lookout tower that offers great 360 degree views, and Tumble Down (toward Byron) has various trails that lead to a mountain lake at the top. Also, the Appalachian Trail passes through several points near Rangeley.

Scenic Area's
There are many scenic areas within 45 minutes of Weld. Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in ME and is off RT 17 between Bryon and Oquossac. Smalls Falls on RT 4 between Phillips and Rangeley. Coos Canyon is in Byron on RT17 and can be easily reached by driving the #6 road from Weld. The "Height of Land" is just before Oquossac on RT17 and has beautiful views of Rangeley and Mooslookmeguntic Lakes. Most of these have picnic areas and some offer swimming.
