Description from owner

You are afforded Privacy and Peace in this quaint, mid-century Cape Cod cottage that is 13 miles from P-Town and a 5-minute drive to Wellfleet's famous glacial ponds and ocean beaches. Please note that although we don't have AC, we're located atop a hill that allows nice cross-breezes. Cottage amenities are: indoor-outdoor showers; cable TV; deck w/a screened-in gazebo overlooking a large yard with 2 hammocks; Washer/Dryer; fully equipped galley kitchen. Walk through the yard to a harbor beach that's across from the Wellfleet pier. A 20-minute walk along the beach over Uncle Tim's bridge takes you to Wellfleet Center. Biking and walking trails abound. We are a housekeeping cottage and although I do supply towels, sheets for two full-size beds, a full-size futon and a single bed are not supplied.

“Outstanding Stay!!!”

Reviewed 30 Sep 2013

Susan was great to deal with!!! So kind and punctual in her dealings!!! The place was absolutely spick and span. I have never stayed at a rental so clean. It had everything you could want. I do plan to stay again. Do not miss this rental a must!!!! The beach is but a minute walk. Neighborswere so kind and friendly. Thank you so much for a lovely stay!!!!

Owner's reply: Comments like this make all the efforts to maintain Heather Hill more than worthwhile! It's so important to my son John, husband Carl, and myself, Stephenie, to hear what our vacationers think. Please note that for future rentals that my name is STEPHENIE. Thank you so much Joan and I look forward to seeing you in 2014!

“wonderful again this year”

We enjoyed another wonderful stay at Heather Hill. The renovations are fantastic and the charm and character of the cottage was well maintained. We came with our family of four - 2 kids and 2 adults and this year we brought Grandma along. There was lots to do for every member of the family. Almost every evening we walked down to the beach to enjoy the sunset.

Owner's reply: Julie and Marty could write a book called 'THE IDEAL TENANTS'. Our property reflects the absolute quaintness of Cape Cod.. Not only have these folks been ideal tenants but they've become my referral service! Heather Hill is a self-catering property and when the van Haaften's leave my cottage is so clean it's as though they were never there!

“Quaint, wonderful cottage experience”

This is a 1964 cottage with 2 1/2 bedrooms and a futon on the enclosed front porch. It is located 5 minutes from a private beach and it is a 15 minute walk to Uncle Tim's Bridge & Wellfleet. It is near the National Seashore Salt Pond Visitor's Center & several National Seashore beaches are nearby - we especially enjoyed the history & cliffs of Marconi Beach. Stephanie has lovingly decorated the cottage with guests in mind. It is stocked w/ everything one would need for cooking along w/ games, DVDs, and books. It even has beach toys & canoes for use. We only stayed for a weekend, but we wished that we had longer to enjoy its charm. It is immaculate and Stephanie, Carl, and John live next door to answer any questions that may arise. We slept 6 adults comfortably & we enjoyed playing the provided Cape Cod game on Saturday night. We would definitely consider returning to the property!

Owner's reply: Normally our cottage accommodates a family, i.e., Mom, Dad and a couple of kids. I was hesitant to rent to 6 adults. I have to say though that they left Heather Hill in immaculate condition. I would be very happy to have them as tenants in the future!

“Wonderful experience!”

This cottage was perfect! The hosts were warm and kind and helpful in providing suggestions for activities and restaurants, and attending to any needs we had there. A lovely, well-equipped cottage made our stay a terrific one. A short walk to the beach on the Cape side was a bonus. We would return again and again....

Owner's reply: That was super!!! Thank you sooooooo MUCH!

“A great time”

This house was great, much larger than it appears in the pictures. Easy walk to the beach and very convenient for the things we wanted to do.

Dear Carl, Steph & John, We are thoroughly enjoying our 12 day stay at your cottage! This location is perfect for us as we love Wellfleet, and being able to walk to the beach. Thank you for sharing your space and for making us feel so welcome. Thanks also for sharing your tools for our bicycle repair and for the tarp to cover our bikes and protect them from the rain. We love the porch, deck, huge yard and the outdoor shower. Thank you for your hospitality!

For visitors - don't miss Sunset at Duck Harbor- Swimming, canoeing or kayaking at Gull Pond - Church, turned community center at the center of town - look for the hand-carved doors and GO INSIDE! JAZZ at Duck Creek Tavern Friday night (Carl is an artist on the keys!). We will never forget all of the above and the incredibly well-equipped kitchen, the comfy beds and hammocks, frequent couch naps and discovering the pencil sharpener collection. ..
