About the area

Our unit is conveniently situated right between the ocean and the bay. Ocean beach, McGuire Landing is about a mile away. Marconi Beach is 3 miles away. Pilgrim Spring/Indian Neck on the bay side, is approx 1 mi away. PB Boulangerie is just 1/2 mile away with best pastries in the universe. The rail trail, for biking, roller blading is also 1/2 mile away! Downtown Wellfleet, a 7 minute drive away, is filled with great art galleries, and restaurants such as The Pearl, The Bookstore (best oysters), and Winslow's Tavern. Wellfleet Preservation Hall hosts many fun diverse events. The pier, and adjacent Mayo Beach are full of activities incl. free Shakespeare, concerts, square dancing, Harbor Stage theatre (quite a gem!), and kayaking.

Getting around

The best way to get around the Outer Cape is by car. However, bicycles are another fantastic way to get to places without the hassle of traffic.

Getting here

We are approx. 1 hr from the Sagamore Bridge. Get to this bridge or the Bourne Bridge, early in the morning (9-9:30am) to avoid peak traffic. You can go to the beach in Orleans, MA for a few hours, then shop for groceries at Stop and Shop just B/4 heading up to Wellfleet for your 3pm check in time. This is the nearest major grocery store, and is approx. 20 minutes from Wellfleet. When you've gotten into Wellfleet, go to Kinlin Grover at 2548 Hwy 6 to pick up the keys. Now heading south, after passing Cottontail Road, look for the "deck 2" sign on your left at 1780 Hwy 6. Driveway is slight decline. D-5 is toward the back of the driveway, set back on your right. There is dedicated parking in front of D-5, set in with a rail fence.

Interaction with guest

Should you decide to book with us, we will hand you over to our rental agents, Jane Booth and Paige Daigle of Kinlin Grover Realty. It's important for us to have a local resource available to our renters. Kinlin Grover will give you a rental contract, provide keys, and respond to you in the event you have any questions or unforeseen difficulty. Jane and Paige are terrific! All fees are included in the rates posted on the Trip Advisor site.

“Great place, great hosts”

Reviewed 15 Sep 2017

My wife and I stayed for 5 nights. It is the perfect place for us. We love the woods and the beach setting. This place is the perfect compromise. Not far from anything you would need on your vacation. Good dining. Great beaches. Owners really went above and beyond to make sure our stay was pleasant when issues came up. We have found a place to stay whenever we need to get away. All the comforts of home without being home. Property forces relaxation. And I cant forget the Monopoly game that entertained us instead of the television. Thanks for a great place to stay.

Owner's reply: Hi Matt, we're so glad you enjoyed our spot. You're absolutely right, our unit forces relaxation! Thank you for your wonderful review. -Elizabeth

“Great Cape Cod Escape in Wellfleet”

Reviewed 23 Aug 2016

Myself, my husband and our teenage daughter stayed for a bucolic 5 days in the Spring. We enjoy the Cape in the off season. It is a beautiful time to be there. D-5 is a wonderful place to retreat. It is cozy and well decorated with so many unique and lovely touches. We love the sconces in the kitchen, they are so cool. The deck on the back is a great place to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening. It is so peaceful listening to the chirp of the peepers. There is a great table on the deck for outdoor eating which we enjoy very much. It is an idyllic setting being near the pond. There is a charming raised walk-way throughout the compound around the pond. Nice for an evening stroll or morning walk. We built a fire most nights as it can be chilly in April, nice to have that feature in a rental place. The kitchen is fully stocked and has anything a home chef could want. There are lots of board games and books for entertainment if you so desire. D-5 is a wonderful get away and we have gone now two years in a row and can't wait to go back again next Spring. The location is great, near restaurants and an incredible french bakery/restaurant called Boulangerie Bistro just a 5 minutes away. Worth every calorie. If you are looking for a relaxing getaway, near great restaurants and shopping D-5 is the place to go. The owners have lovingly maintained and decorated this rental unit.

Owner's reply: We're so glad your family enjoyed your time at D-5. Thank you for appreciating the serenity of this environment. We agree, it is quite relaxing. Happy to have you stay with us again. -Elizabeth Day

“A respite in every way”

Reviewed 17 Oct 2015

My two children (ages 4 and 15) and I spent 10 days at this property and cannot say enough about our pleasant accommodations. The cottage is overall very well maintained and comfortable. Each of the bedrooms is well appointed with comfortable new beds, good lighting, and adequate storage. The bathroom is modern and clean. The kitchen is well-stocked and efficient, with everything needed, including plenty of serving and storage pieces and good quality pots and dishes. We enjoyed the deck most of all, both mornings and evenings. The setting was peaceful and serene, and road noise was almost unnoticeable. The condo, as part of a quiet condo community with the boardwalk loop, felt very safe and offered hours of fun for the kids. There were many times we began or ended our day with a slow stroll along the loop, stopping to enjoy the views of the greenery and the pond. I am a runner and found the location to be ideal - just a quick 5 minute jog down the road and I was on the bike path for my run. The proximity to all the town beaches and ponds was perfect for accommodating whatever mood struck - we could be on the beach or back home in 5 minutes depending on our mood and the weather. All in all, this cottage is a respite and the owners have done everything to make sure it's comfortable, modern, clean, and welcoming. We hope to return often!

Owner's reply: Thank you Margaret. We're so glad you found our D-5 to be a great spot for your family. We welcome you back!

“Clean quiet well located”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2015

We stayed at Deck 2 D5 for a week. What a great little hideaway. It was right off Route 6, but you can't hear the road from the condo. The setting is rustic, with the units around a pretty pond, but the condo itself is modern and clean. Location is great--10 minutes from LeCounts, Marconi, Whitecrest and the Beachcomber. You can reach back roads to bike to the beaches and bike trail with only a short stretch on Route 6. We have a family of 5--the condo was fine for up to 6 people, but if you are stuck inside for an extended period it will be tight. But, for a place to sleep and eat between outdoor adventures, the place is great. Highly recommend it and would return.

Owner's reply: Thanks, Paul! We're so glad you were comfortable at D-5. Happy to hear you'd like to return! - E. Day
