“Great week on the cape”
We loved the mid cape area. The cottage was perfect for my wife and I , plus two 13 yr old girls. We hit five different beaches. Took a day trip to Nantucket and loved it! We found Chapins in Denisport to be our new favorite restaurant. The pond was the highlight of our experience. The kids and I loved the outdoor shower. Overall , we made some great memories !
Owner's reply: Thank you Pat for the wonderful review and your family is welcome back anytime!
“Cozy & Relaxing”
Such a cozy and comfortable place to stay! Cottage is clean, well maintained and charming. The neighborhood is so cute and Kelley's Pond just a few steps away. We fell in love with West Dennis! Such great proximity to fantastic beaches...this cottage is ideally located as a home base for exploring all the Cape has to offer.
“return renters - great spot!”
We had a wonderful time! Thank you so much! The addition is awesome! We loved the sliding windows. Perfect for catching a nice breeze. We spent time in the front room working on puzzles during breaks or in the evening as we were aiming for a limited TV week. Also great to spread out and eat at the larger table vs. the smaller kitchen island style table. Bass River Burrito & Fish Co (formerly Marathon Seafood) is really delicious and always packed when we drove by. Check out positive reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp. They've redone the interior and it looks great. We ventured into Chatham (Marion's Pie Shop is awesome) and Provincetown. We love both of these towns for their great food and local attractions. We also had a few really nice beach days.
Our stay at Summer Pines was awesome, thank you so much for opening up your property to us! The cottage and surrounding area are beautiful. We had a great time! We loved the outdoor shower and I was very thankful for the rocking chairs and step stool, as a toddler mom those things are helpful, thank you. This is a kid/small family friendly cottage. Going in June was perfect for our little one as the weather wasn't as hot and so we were able to do a lot of outdoor activities. The cottage is an easy bike ride from the beach and is conveniently located, yet has a private feel to it. Recommendations from Valerie via the Home Away app were very helpful. The cottage was very nice and well kept and we very much appreciated our stay. Thank you again!
“A Place to Call Home”
Summer Pines was perfect for us during our stay. It was a great experience to stay in a lovely Cape cottage. Thank you so much for providing all the ammenities you do. The pictures Valerie has posted on this site and herr own website and her Facebook page are 100% accurate. Summer Pines has all the charm of the Cape I have always pictured. The cottage is the perfect size for two or a small family. The location in West Dennis is outstanding. From the first time I had contact with Valerie when inquiring about her property until we returned from our vacation, Valerie was prompt with all replies, answered any questions I had and she refunded the security deposit in less than a week. It is obvious she truly cares about Summer Pines and the Cape. This was our first visit to Cape Cod and it was everything we could have hoped for. Biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail was a wonderful beginning to our week. We were thrilled with the beaches of Dennis (Corporation, Mayflower and West Dennis). We watched kite boarders, enjoyed gorgeous sunsets, and were amazed at how far into Cape Cod Bay you could walk at low tide. We spent a day in Provincetown and were very impressed with Art's Dunes Tours and stopped at various lighthouses at beaches on Cape Cod National Seashore. We also went to Falm/outh/Woods Hole where we saw Nobska Light, Spohr Gardens and the Knob. Our last daytrip was to Orleans/Chatham to enjoy more unique beaches and another lighthouse. Finally, we were fortunate enough to get to two Cape Cod Baseball League games at Yarmouth Dennis High School just minutes from Summer Pines. Do yourself a favor and rent Summer Pines for your vacation on Cape Cod and experience the Cape as it was meant to be.
“An exquisite place to stay”
The cottage is fabulous with every convenience anyone could need or wish for. Beautifully clean and thoughtfully decorated. We used the cottage as a base to visit the whole of Cape Cod from bottom to top and down again.. Memorable trips were whale watching, Hyannis and the Kennedy Museum, Harbour boat trip from Hyannis and seals in the harbour, pretty Chatham, In fact all the towns and beaches we visited were fantastic. We saw and did so much it is difficult to choose any favourites. This is definitely a cottage and a place we will visit again.
“weekend in cape cod”
What a lovely visit we had! Took an outdoor shower everyday! Sipped coffee looking out at the pond and had amazing walks along the beach. Very clean and comfortable little gem!
Had a wonderful time at the cottage. My friend and I were very pleased and enjoyed the quiet. The cottage was quite comfortable and very clean. Location was perfect and made it easy to venture off in both directions to points of interest. West Dennis Beach was great. Sunset at Mayflower Beach was spectacular and dinner at the Ocean House Restaurant is a must. Valerie has created a warm and cozy cottage, fully supplied with everything you need.(Beach chairs, towels, sheets, etc.) Check it out. You won't be sorry.
“Cute cottage on quiet street”
Our family of 4 (two boys aged 6 and 3) had a fabulous week here. We highly recommend kayaking on the Bass river, jet skiing at The Lighthouse Inn, the Pirate Boat out of Hyannis and West Dennis and Mayflower beaches. We enjoyed biking to the beach (saves $20 too!) and my husband enjoyed free wifi at the West Dennis Library. We were blessed with a gorgeous week of weather here and really loved using the outdoor shower. Thank you for a wonderful week in your beautiful cottage Valerie and family!
“Would highly recommend!”
Recently stayed at the cottage,,,, we loved it and had a great time! I would highly recommend this cottage. It was fully equipped, everything you could ever need or forgot to pack! With a great location and plenty to do, its definitely on my list of places to return. Valerie was also very professional and easy to work with. Enjoy! Write a comment...
Owner Supplied Testimonials
Summer Pines Cottage is one of the nicest rental cottage in the area - it is updated, well stocked/decorated and feels airy with lots of natural light from the skylight and glass sliders to the large deck and patio. The West Dennis location is uncrowded and very beautiful. The cottage is in an upscale neighborhood, surrounded by large, well kept homes and are within walking distance to everything - the beach, restaurants and harbors etc.
We had a wonderful time. We walked around the pond and went to the beach. Visited The Skipper and had chowder. Very good. Ate at the Kream n Cone and had a few too many Irish ales at O'Sheas. People were so nice and friendly there. Had a pretty nice conversation there with Butch the bartender! The only bad part about the whole thing was it was too short! Very nice little cottage. We pretty much had the run of the place. No one else was around. All and all an excellent trip. Thanks for getting us in last minute. Really appreciate that. Will definitely check it out again.
Summer Pines cottage was a good getaway for me. We also found the place in West Dennis where my sister and her husband spent their honeymoon 50 years ago. It overlooks the West Dennis golf course and the Bass River. She said it had not changed at all. Although I've vacationed more than 20 times on the Cape, there is always something new to discover. We went to the WHAT (Wellfleet Harbor Actors Theatre) in Wellfleet. On a rainy day, we took in the Cape Cod Art Museum and funky movie theater in Dennis.
We had an amazing time. What a magical little spot you have!
Thank you for the rental on Pond Street in West Dennis that ended this past Saturday. We had a great time and the weather was perfect.
Thanks so much again for such a wonderful time. The kids and I had a great time and your home was beautiful! I was wondering if the same week was open for next year?
The cottage is beautifully decorated, drenched in light, and enjoys breezes from Kelly's pond. If you're a walker you'll have a variety of walks... to Bass river past classic cape cod homes, to West Dennis beach, a nice playground is nearby, or to a local Cafe, Pizza shop, or General Store... it's all within walking distance. A short ride to Bass River Farmers Market. If there is a rainy day, pick up a duraflame log and enjoy a fire. Young explorers and those seeking peace will find the dock across the street to be a great place. Our daughters, ages 8 and 9 1/2, adored the loft area. We really enjoyed our stay.
My family and I vacationed here in August...great location for families with young children. My son loved it here, very peaceful, friendly, clean. This was a very different vacation for us very restful, accommodations where wonderful...loved not having to drag all my linens. This cottage was immaculate and the owner was very helpful and followed up immediately with any questions we had. Thank you for a great vacation!!!
This cozy super clean cottage was exactly as described and shown in the pictures. Perfect for the two of us as we had never been to Cape Cod before so wanted a central base for day trips. The beach was about a 15 min walk or just a few minutes by car and kayak and bike rentals were close by. We really enjoyed our week here!
Valerie is a wonderful, caring host. She made sure that all members of our party were comfortable and provided a wealth of information on and directions to beaches, restaurants, and local attractions. The cottage itself is a little gem; it's easy to get to. And the location is superb: it really does sit on the lake and is within an easy walk, or a 3-minute car ride, from the beach. Very quiet and nice neighborhood. The deck is wonderful with the grill, and the outdoor shower is perfect for summertime outdoor living. Despite the proximity to the lake, we were not bothered by mosquitoes at all. Inside the cottage is exactly as advertised, stocked with everything you may need, and it comfortably sleeps four. It is well-built and cleverly designed: in the 90+ degree weather, downstairs is cool and comfortable even during daytime and absolutely perfect at night without any need for AC. You do need to switch on the window ACs upstairs, but they cool the space in no time.
Everything was just wonderful! Your cottage is extremely nice, inside and outside (and we did spend most of the time outside.) You are the great host, and we will be very happy to recommend your cottage to all our friends looking for some summer fun at the Cape!
The cottage is ideally located to travel all around Cape Cod. We have explored areas from Hyannis to Provincetown, including the Chatham fishpier and railway depot, and the Cape Cod chips factory during the couple of rainy days we have had. The cottage is very charming and welcoming. It has everything needed and more: the deck for sunny breakfast, the bbq, the outdor hot shower. The pond was a plus for my 4 years old daughter to go swimming again after being back from the beach. We went out for dinner once, at the Sesuit harbor cafe, recommended by Valerie and it was definitely worth it: fresh fish, outdoor dinning area on the marina, very casual. Thanks Valerie for creating a very cozy atmosphere in your cottage, we felt instantly like at home, and have had great family moments!
“Our experience in Valerie's cottage was amazing!! She gave us precise directions to the house and once we arrived, we realized we had made a great decision by renting this place for a week. The view to Kelly's Pond was great, the area safe, plenty of restaurants and activities for adults and kids, supermarkets just minutes away, and most importantly the house itself was the perfect space. The cottage was clean, it had everything we needed to cook some meals, the bedrooms and bathroom were perfectly set-up, and the wonderful fireplace was an incredible (and magical!) bonus. In the Spring, nights can be a bit chilly, so we set-up the fireplace and enjoyed nice, peaceful evenings by the fire- simply amazing!! Valerie is very accommodating and responsive. She is definitely the hostess with the mostest! My husband, son and I will certainly return to Cape Cod and hope we can stay at Valerie's place, where we felt like home. Thank Valerie! ”

This adorable cottage is perfectly comfortable and in a very quiet location. Our young kids loved the upstairs area - they said it was their own fort! We will be back for sure!

What a magical place! How lucky we were to find this gem and spend some time away in a beach fantasy. We cannot thank your family enough for all the well though-out details that made this vacation stay feel like home. We only hope we can come back very soon!
We loved our stay at Summer Pines cottage, it is exactly how it looks on the pictures. It's nice, cozy and peaceful, size is just right for our family of 4. My kids love the split loft space rooms. Val is quick to respond and gave helpful tips to explore the area.
Very beautiful cottage - right in the perfect location to explore Cape Cod. We stayed as a family of four and had enough space for us. Well equipped and clean! Simply a perfect place for a week or so. Owner was very helpful and responded to our requests without delay - very positive experience. We highly recommend this place!
The cottage is clean and bright and was a wonderful home base for our daily adventures on the Cape. Walking down to O'Shea's was one of the best parts of our stay and it was easy to drive to any point on the Cape from this central location. Quiet area, very peaceful and welcoming experience.
We soaked up everything we could while staying in this wonderful cottage ~ thank you, we will remember this week at Summer Pines Cottage with a full heart!
- Cris, Ithaca
We had a FANTASTIC TIME. The cottage was so cute and the area beautiful and peaceful. Can't wait to go back for a longer stay. It was a perfect relaxing start to our honeymoon.
We can absolutely recommend the summer cottage. It is very nicely decorated. Valerie immediately responded to questions.
