Family gathering for wedding

May 31, 2016

This property's common areas are spacious and great for a large gathering. My family was visiting from out of town for a family wedding and needed a location to both house family members and provide a comfortable space for gathering during the several days leading up to the wedding and immediately after. Three bedrooms housed three couples from the older generation and the large master suite was able to sleep 5 of the younger generation. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms well appointed even with soap and shampoo dispensers for each shower. Decor is a bit dated, but clean, comfortable and functional. There is an African wildlife theme as the hosts are from South Africa (including several large mounted game heads). Other family members staying at nearby hotels joined us at various points over those days, culminating in a day after wedding barbecue where 45 family members came through. The kitchen is very well appointed and the two gas grills were perfect for the barbecue. The backyard and deck are lovely and spacious with a lovely view of the river from above. A trail leads down to the shore below. The circular drive in front of the house allows for a lot of parking on the grass of the front yard. This is important since it is necessary to maintain a small footprint on the neighborhood so as not to disturb the neighbors. The property was also ideal since it was only 15 minutes from the wedding venue at the Renaissance in Haverhill. Newburyport is also only 15 minutes away and allowed family members to explore the quaint seaport and enjoy fine seafood restaurants. Plum Island's beaches and natural areas were explored by others. Grocery stores and other shops were just 10 minutes away. The hosts, Reini and Colin, were very helpful and solicitous of our needs.

Owner's reply:

Hosting Deb, her fellow instructors and students was a most rewarding experience.
They fitted in perfectly, couldn't have been nicer and we look forward to their next visit whenever that may be.
Deb is a great leader and organizer and communicating with her either via email or in person was easy and effortless.
They left the premises in perfect condition and I would highly recommend them to other hosts wherever they go to set up their training camps.

Owner Supplied Testimonials

This was our second time staying at Colin and Reini's, and again, it did not disappoint. The accommodations are clean, comfortable, and well equipped. Colin and Reini are exceptional hosts who are friendly, flexible, and very accommodating. We were traveling with our two young children who loved playing with their visiting family's children of similar age. They are a very welcoming family, and we look forward to staying there again!

September 2014

Before checking in with Colin we spent a lovely afternoon at Plum Island beach. Winding our way along a country road near a beautiful wetland wildlife refuge we called in by phone as we approached the elegant neighborhood and address. Colin's welcoming and reassuring voice set the tone for a very pleasant night's stay in a huge, immaculate room that slept the 3 of us very comfortably and reasonably (on very short notice). We had a flight early in the morning and wanted to be close enough to Boston the night before so, on the way, we could drop off the rental car in Saugus where the 2 week rental was half the price charged at the airport.
