Enjoy yourselves, relax and be happy. Terrific for Couples Getaway! Very Private & Charming tropically landscaped getaway home centrally located just off South Florida's Antiques Row in West Palm and just minutes from the pristine beaches of the Atlantic Ocean in Palm Beach; nearthe airport, downtown West Palm, Art Galleries, Worth Avenue, Golf, Deep Sea Fishing, Malls and Fine Restaurants etc.

El Cortijo is a tastefully decorated house, stylish, very comfortable, beautifully appointed and COVID clean. The modern kitchen is completely equipped. There's a huge one piece French Oak dining table for great dinners and conversation, plus a breakfast bar for less formal eating. Each bedroom is an oasis in itself. The lush landscaping is simply gorgeous. Exotic palms surround the house. The front garden has a wonderful zen-like feel with a little bench for contemplation or just a spot to be alone. Of course the salt water pool is the centre of activity. The beautiful sandy beaches of the Atlantic are just minutes away.

El Cortijo is located just off Dixie south of Belvedere Road and north of Southern Boulevard and a short walk from the Lake Worth Lagoon. There's excellent jogging by the lake.

The airport is two miles west, the ocean is less than a mile east and downtown/City Place/Clematis Street is a mile to the north. Interstate 95 is nearby using either Southern Boulevard or Belvedere Road. The Flagler Museum is close by as are The Breakers, The Norton Gallery, Palm Beach Zoo, Singer Island. Disney is 2 hours away.

All in all a great location and oh so very private!

About the area

Located in the heart of historic "antiques row" and minutes to City Place, the airport, shopping, museums, the zoo, fine restaurants and the glorious sandy shores of the Palm Beaches. El Cortijo is situated in a quiet, friendly neighbourhood and walking distance to the shores of Lake Worth which separates West Palm Beach and the island of Palm Beach. We give our guests a little guide which we wrote to make it easy to find your way about - supermarkets, shops, places to eat (City Diner is great and 5 minutes from the door) in the area and further afield; information about attractions and activities and of course directions to the nearby beaches. There is parking for two vehicles in the gated driveway and additional parking on the street. The pool is salt water and heated as is the jacuzzi spa whose jets operate during the hours of pool filtration every day. Centrally located with easy access to both the ocean and the interstate. It's easy to get around from El Cortijo. Guests often tell us that they may visit the beach for a swim in the ocean (12 minute drive to the public beach) but tend to just 'stay at home and enjoy the pool and sunshine'. Getting around

While guests often say they hardly leave the house once they arrive, we think it is best for guests to have a car as there is so much to see -- so many nice beaches and places to go. Palm Beach County has a bus system and there is a bus stop nearby. It is a very short walk -- a couple of blocks -- over to the Intracoastal's Lake Worth Lagoon the other side of which is the Island of Palm Beach with Mar-a-Lago clearly visible.

Getting here

Wintertime guests coming from overseas are advised that it's best to fly directly to Florida rather than going through New York. Winter storms in the north can adversely affect travel. Miami Airport is about an hour away with normal traffic. The Fort Lauderdale Airport is about 45 minutes away. The Palm Beach International is a real nice little airport and a very short drive to the property. We provide directions from each airport. South Florida also has a commuter train called the Tri-Rail ('Tri' representing the three counties: Palm Beach, Broward and Dade) which is an alternative and which has shuttles to the airport.

Interaction with guest

We wrote up a guide to help guests negotiate their way around the region with tips on shopping, directions to the beaches, attractions and a bit of history and so forth. We send this to you upon booking. Closer to arrival we provide what we call our orientation guest notes which are just helpful notes to make it a simple matter to settle in upon arrival. There is no need for concern about an exchange of keys as we have keyless entry for which we provide the code. Sometimes we are in Florida at the same time as guests. A lovely older couple watch over our homes there and are generally available and of course we are available all the time by telephone, text and email. We enjoy having a relationship and want our guests to be very happy.
