The Lazy Moose Lodge is a relatively new luxury log home/chalet which backs up to the Gallatin National Forest on a quiet dead-end street and only 7 miles from the West Gate of Yellowstone National Park. The home is privately situated in a grove of beautiful Lodge Pole Pine, Aspen and Douglas Fir trees and has a great view from it's covered back porch into the Gallatin forest, including riding trails and native forest wildlife (e.g., deer and an occasional moose or elk). It has 1,250 sq ft of living space, including 3 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms, Laundry Room, Family Room, Dining Room, Kitchen, Sleeping Loft plus a full length covered front porch and a very private covered back porch (dining porch!) overlooking the Gallatin National Forest!
Beautifully decorated in a rustic mountain lodge theme with all new furniture, fixtures and household items. Ideally suited for up to 6 adults plus children for a maximum party size of 10. Simply one of the 'best of the best' in area rental vacation homes!
Sleeping arrangements are as follows: MBR/Upper Level - King log bed, Loft/Upper Level - sleeper futon, BR1/Main Level - Queen log bunk beds, BR2/Main Level - Queen log bed, LR: Queen sleeper sofa.
For large family or friend gatherings, we have other rental properties immediately adjacent to the Lazy Moose Lodge - e.g., the newly constructed Mountain View Lodge and the recently renovated Mini-Moose Cabin! Also, if interested, please ask about our referral arrangements, including horseback riding, trout fishing, hunting and snowmobiling.

Owner Supplied Testimonials
Aug 24, 2015 - The house was beautiful and very well appointed. It was nice to have things like spices, paper towel. dish soap, etc in the house. We rent a lot of houses and they do not all offer that. We loved the house and its location. A few very minor things I would note....all the other houses in this development has a beautiful view of the mountains. This house does not. The washer has the longest wash cycle ever. We ended up needed to do a fair bit of laundry and it took a long time, but were grateful for the laundry facilities. The futon furniture up stairs needed a few minor repairs. Overall, we loved the house!
May 21, 2015 - We were wonderfully over-served by the lovely Lazy Moose Lodge as there were just two of us. The place comfortably sleeps 8 and easily sleeps 12 (if you use the futon and pull out sofa-bed) so we felt like kings of the forest! The place smells wonderfully of freshly sawed wood. The kitchen is well-appointed with everything you'll need - even a Slow Cooker. (Except for a tea kettle. Why do no rentals provide a tea kettle? To us, it seems to be an essential part of the kitchen. You never know just how much until you no longer have one. We travel with a "traveling" teapot, as well, so no tea kettle is an inconvenience. NOTE: We are proud to announce that each of our rentals now has a wonderful tea kettle!) There are plenty of extra towels and washcloths. The "cabin" is warm, welcoming, and felt remarkably rustic and woodsy even though it is a curated sort of rusticity - read: high end and sumptuous. We were so happy to be out of the hubbub of West Yellowstone. We are NOT West Yellowstone kind of people and avoid all sorts of traps: booby traps, claptrap and tourist traps among them. Thankfully the cabin is about seven miles out of town. An easy (and very quick) drive at Montana's 70 mph speed limit. LOL. The exception in town was the Playmill Theatre. That was the real deal. Not some second-rate summer stock. (BOOK YOUR TICKETS AND GO!) Good food was more than a little difficult to locate in West Yellowstone. The Chinese food was sub-standard, likewise the new Pho shop. Beartooth BBQ was not it! Not at all. We did have a very good breakfast at Old Town Cafe that featured a bison patty and some very nice biscuits and gravy. That we recommend! Don't worry about the food. You have a lovely kitchen back at your million dollar cabin, right? There are two medium-sized grocery stores in town that are more than adequately stocked for your cooking needs. (The West Entrance to Yellowstone is easier to use than the other entrances. Too bad the tourism of West Yellowstone got so out of hand.) Gosh, we had a lovely time. We even assembled a rather hard-to-complete jigsaw puzzle that we found in the cabin. I haven't done that since I was a kid... (The owners of the cabin gave us a "welcome call" on our cell phone - always a nice thing to do and so rare in our experience with rentals. To me, it shows they care and are "on call" should anything out of the ordinary be needed.) You will not find better accommodation near the West Entrance of Yellowstone than the Lazy Moose Lodge. You certainly won't find it in West Yellowstone itself. That you can take to the bank.
May 24, 2014 - The Lazy Moose was a spacious, wonderful, relaxing home that we looked forward to coming back to after a long day in the park, horseback riding, site seeing, etc. This home has everything anyone could need including a relaxing, peaceful back porch overlooking the Gallatin Forest which we enjoyed daily. We stayed in the Mini Moose two years ago, and we loved it as well, however, we invited friends with us and needed more room. We would highly recommend this beautiful home as well as any of the three homes offered by this owner.
May 21, 2014 - What a fantastic vacation home from which to enjoy the Yellowstone/Teton areas. All the comforts of a well equipped and constructed cabin. Had the privilege of meeting the very welcoming and gracious owners. Quality people offering a quality temporary home.
September 2016 - The Lazy Moose!
Spent 8nights here and it felt like home!!!! Comfortable, cozy and very well appointed! Kitchen had everything you need to make a great meal! Bedrooms were spacious and comfy!! Loved having my coffee on the back covered porch! Had a buck and doe walk thru one morning. Perfect location to everything! Front porch was perfect for a glass of wine and just plain relaxing! Thanks again!!!
June 2016 - Wonderful family trip to Yellowstone!
My husband and I brought both of our sets of parents for a big family vacation in Yellowstone. The Lazy Moose Lodge was the perfect place for the 6 of us to stay! The house is beautiful and rustic. It is so secluded; you are right in the forest. The back deck was perfect for grilling and bbqing. The kitchen is modern and well stocked with non-perishable staples like salt, sugar, coffee, tea, condiments. Every day we drove the short 10-15 min drive to the West entrance of the park. Just as a side note: the hot water in the showers is pretty spotty and we didn't have too much hot water most days (lukewarm, at best). This wasn't a big deal because it was the summer anyways, but just something to note. The owners were available every time I called during our stay, even if it was just for a quick question. Overall, it's hard to go wrong with this choice! Visit Yellowstone and definitely stay at the Lazy Moose Lodge! We WILL be back!
Thank you for the great 5-star review and a special thanks for choosing Lets Go To Yellowstone Vacation Rentals to satisfy your lodging needs. Although we’ve never had any reported issues with the hot water capacity (which is provided via a top of the line, quick recovery heater), we’ll definitely have it checked out asap. It may be that your party of six adults pushed it to its limits – especially if there were concurrent showering/bathing and laundry/dishwasher activity! Thanks again!
