Beautiful, relaxing and comfortable getaway
July 20, 2014
Marty's Place was simply the perfect location for our family getaway. The house is beautifully appointed, with a country feel, but all the modern amenities. We spent a large portion of our time outside -- on the porch relaxing (lots of reading materials around the house), by the fire pit watching the sunset, playing in the yard. But we also thoroughly enjoyed the stocked kitchen and preparing meals to eat around the large dining room table (there were ten of us). We enjoyed being able to walk into Langley, a favorite Whidbey town, or the quick jaunt over to Double Bluff beach, but still felt miles away from it all, because the property is so spacious and secluded. Thank you so much! We will be back.

Our family wanted to getaway, relax, and create memories together. We were so excited to do just that at Whidbey Island and do it so comfortably at Marty's Place. We Loved the views the fire pit, the cute downtown area, and when we were inside we played board games (we had a hard time finding ones that were complete) made fires, watched movies, and just enjoyed each others company. We were very comfortable at Martys Place. The kids loved the toys and the adventure of being there. The bed rooms did get really cold at night with no way of warming them up, we did have a leak in 2 areas of the house and the dishwashers (yes they have 2) were not working but even with those things i still feel this house deserves 4 stars. We have rented vacation homes before, and this has been one of our favorites.
We are glad the Campos party enjoyed their stay, and we apologize for the issues they had while staying with us.
At Marty’s Place, we take pride in providing a comfortable and relaxing environment for our guests. We take all maintenance and other issues that our guests have during their stays very seriously, and strive to resolve them as quickly as we can. We encourage all our guests to contact us with any problems they encounter during their visits so that we can address them as quickly as possible.
In the case of the dishwashers, we had them repaired as soon as we were notified about the problem which unfortunately was only after the Campos party had departed from our home. The leaks appeared on the day of their arrival and unfortunately could not be repaired during their stay, but were fixed shortly thereafter. The upstairs rooms can get chilly, but can be warmed up by turning up the heat in the house to a higher setting.
We would like to thank Cynthia for reviewing Marty’s Place and hope that she will stay with us again sometime in the future.

From the moment we walked in, you could feel that many families have had a wonderful time in the house. The two dishwashers, a huge island, the entire set-up of the house is so user friendly and comfortable. The lighting in crucial areas are on dimmers which I appreciated especially the ones in the hallway upstairs since my parents are elderly and it was easy for them to get to the bathroom they were using. The view from the master bedroom and the huge wrap around porch was breathtaking! The dining room with all the stoneware and stemware for the entire family along with the decorations made me feel I was home. The bay window upstairs at the end of the hall with all the children's books was so sunny I wished we would have had small children to read to while in the house which reminds me of the names on the bedroom and downstairs closet doors. Be sure to look at the name on the closet under the stairs. Delightful! The small town closest had a great grocery store, coffee shop and restaurant (The Braeburn) and they were all wonderful. Obviously we thoroughly enjoyed our week long stay and hope to stay again in the future. I would highly recommend this house. The owner was easy to work with and could not have been more helpful!

Destination for a family reunion of adults and children. Was an absolutely wonderful place. The home is beautiful. But it is very homey as well. The rooms are divided in such a way that there were lots of places for folks to sit and talk as well as places for the kids to play. They loved the room with bunk beds and also the nook with toys upstairs. The fire pit was a huge success with children and adults as well. Enjoyed sitting on the porch and looking at the amazing view. Easy to walk into Langley. I'd definitely come stay again.

We stayed at Marty's place for a family reunion. We had nine people in our party with ages ranging from 3 to 63. Wonderfully comfortable home with huge yard for lots of outdoor activities. The kitchen is equipped superbly. The town of Langley had plenty of dining options. You won't regret staying here!

Absolutely no negative aspects to report. I suspect our 6 adults and 3 children added about a decade of laughter [but hopefully not wear] to your house. Absolutely wonderful venue and would return in a heartbeat. Great pastries, coffee, chocolates, groceries, and restaurants in Langley a double plus.
