Great stay all too short
August 26, 2014
Perfect, quiet little cottage on an absolutely beautiful quiet Mirror Lake. Close to everything we wanted to do with our two little ones, Selma was perfect! My kids loved the loft bed and the convenient access to the water. Great that a canoe was included with our stay!
Fabulous Family Vacation
August 22, 2013
This cottage is definitely cozy but there was enough room for 2 adults, 3 children and our dog. The owners are more than accommodating to answer ANY question you may have. Any time I had a question I received a prompt and thorough response. The cottage pretty much any amenity that you could ask for - including being stocked with games (board and outside), books, moves, and any supply that you most likely forgot at home. The view was absolutely spectacular; sitting on the back porch was beautiful enough but kayaking the lake was breathtaking - at any point of day.

Great base for exploring
July 29, 2013
This was the tiniest cottage we've stayed in yet, but since there is SO much to see and do in the White Mountains, we didn't need it to be huge. Mirror Lake was gorgeous and starting every day off with a swim was heaven. The neighbours were so friendly and quiet -- it was lovely getting to know them. I can't say enough good about the area: You must visit Ripley Falls and Jackson Falls. Drive (or hike!) up Mount Washington -- the drive IS an adventure! We even drove down to Hampton Beach to add the ocean to our week. The kitchen for this cottage was borderline too small -- so focus on barbecuing. And the front porch must be where people who stay keep their dogs -- we don't have a dog so I didn't like the smell...

This cottage offered a great location and nice amenities. Close enough to all you could ask for but far enough to get away from it all. The kids enjoyed the easy access to the water and sleeping in the loft. Everyone around us was friendly and welcoming!
COZY COTTAGE-GREAT LAKE VIEW
December 8, 2012
Nice, peaceful, cozy cottage with a rear deck and a beauty of a lake out back. Canoe if you want to. Gas fire-place in living room keeps the whole place toasty. Owners are accommodating. Honest with deposit return. Near northern edge of White Mountain National Forest range. Cute towns nearby. About 30 min to Cannon Mt. Drop dead gorgeous scenery. If driving from the south, use I-93, through the range. It's worth the slower pace for the scenery. Kitchen, though small, saves a ton of money. We brought a gas grill and cooked on deck. A wonderful week in late Sept.

lakeside cottage, almost like home

My family of four (kids aged 5 and 1.5) spent a week in this cottage and enjoyed ourselves. It's not spacious but has everything one would need. The loft situation is a little dicey for young kids but the safety gates helped to keep our younger child from climbing up the ladder (we found it very hard to get her down from the loft when she climbed up as soon as we arrived at the cabin). Having spent my childhood summer vacations in the Whitefield area, I was impressed at how insect/spider free the house is. We didn't do any cooking but used the full size refrigerator, microwave, and toaster. Because the house is set down the hill from the highway, we didn't hear truck traffic noise despite sleeping with the windows open. The screened porch is a great use of space (again, no bugs) and allows for a nice breeze. The beach access to the lake is fantastic for children - a real plus for us parents who can sit on the dock and watch the kids swim without having to get in the lake ourselves. The condo association has done a wonderful job with the property and its ammenities (lounge chairs, fireplace pit, hammock). I would stay here again without a second thought.

Great time away
June 23, 2012
Plenty of room for 2 adults and 3 kids, but we spent a lot of time outside. Fished and swam, walked the Flume, drove the Mt. Washington auto road. Roasted marshmallows and hotdogs. Great breeze each day to keep us cool - 2 90 degree days! Brought a window fan for the downstairs bedroom, that came in handy. Ceiling fan and box fan included in loft kept the kids comfortable. Wish we had a small boat or kayak with us, but otherwise it was a blast. Great location, nice little lake.

Great Little Cottage
June 26, 2011
We stayed here with 2 adults and 2 children and it was really great! The kids liked the loft upstairs and the lake was really pretty. It was so great that the owners have everything you need while you are away from home. We traveled all around the NE states and even Canada while we were staying there. It was a great little place to come back to once our travels were done for the day!

Very nice place to vacation. The cottage is good for 4-5 people, any more would be tite. We like to hike and explore the mountains and this cottage is close to many trails/activities. Going for a canoe ride on the lake is great.

There was nothing bad about this vacation and cabin! The view was out of this world beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. I stayed there with my fiance, 5 year old son, and 14 year old step-son, and we were all so happy staying here. We loved the beach, swimming, canoeing, everything about the place! The neighbors are super friendly and the group campfires were a ton of fun! One last great thing - the owners of the cabin really go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible. Every time I realized I forgot to pack something, I would turn around and find what I needed! From wine glasses, to cooking utensils to ketchup for our burgers cooked out on the grill! Very convenient! Loved it! We will be back for Labor Day Weekend and hopefully many more times in the near future!

A Wonderful Place to Stay
March 3, 2010
We went to the cabin for New Year's week! It is located in the middle of our favorite places to hike, so it was pretty convenient. Also, it has everything you may need utensil wise in a kitchen. The house is great! We LOVED the faux-wood stove! There were 4 adults and it was definately do-able with the size of the cabin. They have also left a lot of helpful information about the area inside. All in all, we have only great things to say about our experience! Thanks!!
Beautiful location, needs better maintenance
October 13, 2009
We stayed at the 'Selma' cottage for 2 nights. The location is lovely and the views of the lake were spectacular. But the cottage was cramped and felt like a dollhouse. The shower stall is ridiculously small and I am a small lean person myself. The cottage was not clean when we arrived and there were no sheets on the bed and dirty laundry from the previous guests was left in the living room. We spent some time cleaning up the place and had to setup the beds ourselves after calling the owner to find out where stuff was. The kitchen was well stocked but the kitchen countertop was really dirty. We scrubbed it as best as we could. All in all, the place needs a good cleanup and better maintenance. We were not thrilled with not having clean sheets etc on arrival in the night. We loved the lake and the views though and spent a good amount time there early mornings. This could be a good place to stay in if some work is put into it. The owners took care to leave a lot of local information which was very helpful. Will definitely return to the white mountains area but unlikely to come back to this cottage.

Beautiful Lake and Mountain Views
August 10, 2009
We(2 60-somethings) stayed for 2 weeks in this cute little cottage. It was very well equipped with lots of extras. Swimming almost every day was the best part, and the view was great! The neighbors were fun and friendly, good restaurants nearby, and always lovely scenery for a drive. The couches (especially the futon) were not the most comfortable, but pretty typical for these kinds of rentals. The owners were very informative and pleasant. All-in-all, a very good experience.
Summer base camp
July 27, 2009
We had a great time hitting the national parks in Franconia, Santa's Village and Six Gun City. The area is tranquil, the cottage clean with everything you need. I enjoyed reading the comments from previous guests. Our dog claimed the screened in porch as her personal vacation spot. Everything was exactly as it was promoted to be. The neighbors in the other cabins are friendly and helpful. The fireplace was awesome on chilly mornings. Thanks for a great spot. Two adults, two kids and the dog felt right at home.
so fun and cute!
July 15, 2009
I stayed here for 3 nights with my husband, our 9 month old baby, and our big ole labby. We found it a bit cramped at times (our baby is just learning to crawl, and our dog is always at your heel!), but for what it is- an escape from our everyday stress- it is great! The details of the cottage cannot be beat- they have everything you could possibly need. Robert and Kimberly leave little notes of info for you around the cottage to make you feel right at home, and they'll send you a guide to the area before you stay too, which helped us immensely. Whitefield is a small town, but located near many attractions- we drove up Mt Wash one day, and found lots of cute places to dine at while we were there too! The canoe is great, and the house looks RIGHT out onto the lake: so so peaceful! We watched two t-storms from the screened in porch too! Our dog loved the lake. Our baby loved their packnplay! We loved the views and the peace! Thanks Robert!

We loved this cottage! We felt like we were living in a doll's house - everything was perfectly sized to fit the cozy space. We had a wonderful time in the canoe, and we enjoyed sitting in the big yard to enjoy the scenery. Everything we needed was there waiting for us! The kids were particularly thrilled to have a yahtzee tournament. All in all a great family time. We will definitely go back.
Perfect Little Getaway!!!!!
October 9, 2008
My boyfriend and I went just for the weekend, and we both loved it. The cabin way great!! Soooo cute, with everything you need. (Coffee maker, clean sheets and blankets, LOTS of clean towels) The whole place was very clean. The people around town were VERY nice, and the info that the owners send you is very helpfull. The lake is right in your backyard, and very gorgous to see. If your stressed out and sick of your work and your town, this is THE PERFECT place for you. Spend a week or a weekend in the country. Great sights in the cute little town. I' am already planning on coming back, hopefully for a week next time. Great price's. Great food. Great area. GREAT EVERTHING!! But dont just take my word for it, read all the other reviews that I read before I decided to go. Trust me, you will not regret it.:]

Great cabin, rude renters
August 11, 2008
The cabin is adorable, and was perfect for our stay. It had everything we needed and was the perfect size. The lake is not very nice to swim in, and the renters are extremely rude. We did nothing in violation of our contract, and yet we were reprimanded for inviting friends up for just one night. We were also accused of doing illegal activities, which was absolutely NOT the case. Overall, I would recommend this cabin rental only to people who are prepared for two people to treat you like dirt.

From the moment we opened the door to the moment we left, we loved every minute we spent in this beautifully decorated, cozy and quaint cottage. This place has everything and is perfect for a family getaway. Having spent many summer vacations at Newfound Lake growing up, Mirror Lake and the group of cottages here are a hidden gem. It is peaceful and at the same time has a sense of community. We enjoyed fishing with the kids in the evenings, watching the kids faces and hearing them shriek when the bass gave us a fight and the fire pit was a nice touch. The kids LOVED the loft! The best part..being able to take the dog w/ us on vacation. The owner was pleasant throughout the entire process. This is the kind of place your kids will leave having fond memories for years to come.

This cottage was so much fun. We had 4 adults, a baby and the dogs. It's small but we fit nicely. Very cozy! It was nice having a fully furnished kitchen with all the little things we would have forgotten to pack. The neighbors were very nice as well. We went hiking up a couple of the local mountains.

Great family vacation spot!
June 26, 2007
We had such a great time in this welcoming cottage. The lake is beautiful, and it faces west so we watched the sunset every night. The area is a great place for families, so our one-and-a-half year old had a great time at some of the local attractions. But, the place was so relaxing that we all just had fun doing nothing together! The neighbors are so friendly. We made fires in the common fire area, and the kids really enjoyed toasting marshmallows, while the adults enjoyed the fire after the kiddies were in bed. The bed in the "master bedroom" has a view of the lake and the linens the owners provided were very comfortable. It was really the nicest family vacation, and I would recommend the cottage and the area to anyone.

We spent the first week of August at Selma Cottage. It met all our expectations and more. The cottage was quaint and exactly like the photos. The lake lived up to its name "Mirror Lake". It was very clear and reflected both the sky and surrounding scenery. The cottage is centrally located near main attractions, such as the Flume and Lost River which are favorites of ours. I would definitely give this cabin a five star rating.

We have spent the last week of the year at this cottage. Really loved the place. The cottage is very clean and nicely decorated: a very romantic bedroom on the first floor, the living room is hype and modern, we loved the gas stove and the den above the living room is just superb. The owner had prepared all necessities - clean towels in the bathroom, clean sheets for beds and some extra for our guests, the kitchen was nicely equipped and had extra little things. The cottage is on a beautiful lake - we loved ice skating in the evening under the sky and the Moon. The skiing is within 20 minutes drive. We also took some pottery lessons in town. We all had a wonderful vacation and our dog loved it too.
