Description of the Williams vacation cottage rental
NOT oceanfront. NOT California or Florida. The cottage is located on 2 acres of open range just off Highway 64 which runs straight into the Grand Canyon National Park. You can roam the 2 acres but keep yer boots on our side of the fence. The cottage is a 2 bedroom hideaway that is centrally located (at least according to Western standards) to many other Arizona landmarks such as the Petrified Forest & Meteor Crater. Parking is available at the front of the cottage. There's no smoking inside & cigarette butts must be put in your ashtray.
Area Information
A three hour drive will take you either to Phoenix or to the Utah-AZ border. An hour & a half takes you to Prescott; 30 minutes to Flagstaff & 15 minutes to Williams. Williams has a Safeway, several gas stations (Love's is the least expensive), the world famous (?) Sultana Bar, & several other restaraunts with bars inside & restaraunts without. Pancho Macgillacody's has the best ribs in town (but I haven't tried the Branding Iron yet) & several other family restaraunts (locals agree that the Grand Canyon Coffee & Cafe has the best all-around food in town). Williams is the jumping off place for the Grand Canyon Railway. The Williams/Flagstaff area is located in the largest continuous Ponderosa forest in the US. Going toward the Canyon, you will leave the forest, cross the high desert, & then climb back into the Alpine Ponderosa forest at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. You will be at 7,000 feet & it's usually windy so dress accordingly. This also means that under the right conditions & time of the year (like June or Sept) it could snow. The area is filled with small lakes for fishing, & (for the hunters in the area) trophy elk. Because the area is open range, you should watch for cattle, deer, antelope, & elk. A car will lose the battle if it collides with any of these animals.
