Ironman Lake Placid week
Date of Stay: July 2012 Excellent rental especially for the Lake Placid Ironman week. Only about 15 minutes to Lake Placid and less than 2 miles from the bike course near Whiteface mtn. House was very clean, had great appliances and cooking ware. The house was well equipped and had plenty of camp wood, fire pit, and grill. The best part of the house was the homeowners. I was in constant contact with them prior to the trip and they had numerous recommendations on hikes, restaurants, and etc. They were extremely helpful and always responded to email. I would definately come back to this property in the future. The house is secluded by woods and had several trails within walking distance of property. Sean M

"An amazing family get-a-way!!!"
Date of Stay: July 2010
My husband, 3 year old daughter and myself stayed at this fabulous adirondack home for a week in July. My husband was an Ironman 2010 Finisher and this home was perfect for us. It is less than 20 minutes from the Village of Lake Placid, less than 5 minutes from public swimming and day use areas and less than 10 from Santa's Workshop!!! The trails and views surrounding the home were incredible! The cleanliness, hospitality and services the Murphy's provided were impeccable! My husband and I, without any reservation, recommend this home for anyone looking for an adirondack get-a-way!!! We can't wait to stay there again!!! LR

Fall weekend in the Adirondacks
Date of Stay: October 2011 The house is big and perfect, lot of sun on the deck (morning side) and nice fireplace. The area is soooo quiet and the forest around is amazing (especially with the fall colors). We were 3 couples and had a wonderfull time there, wil go back for sure next year. Can't Wait to go Back Next Year!Louis-Philippe

Date of Stay: August 2011 My family and I absolutely loved, loved, loved this house! We felt like we were right at home and the house had everything a person could need. The view is beautiful--Im going to miss waking up to that beautiful mountain on the horizon. The house was clean, cozy and every room was a great size. We were provided with restaurant recommendations and recommendations for the area(and so much more!). The area is gorgeous, great for sightseeing and the community is very friendly and courteous. The communication was great. The rates for the house are very affordable and well worth it. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer! We plan to make this a yearly trip. This was a wonderful experience and the beauty, comfort, and kindness of the whole experience was made possible by the family that provided us with this wonderful residence. Many thanks! We look forward to our next stay! Thank you so much. -Christine

August 2011 House is clean and up to date. Close to Whiteface and 20 min. to Lake Placid. Quiet and private, definitely felt like we were in the wilderness. Owners are also great people. Thomas C

Can't wait to come back Date of Stay: August 2011 My new husband and I spent a week at Highpeaksdrifter for our honeymoon. We had a fantastic time; this home offers everything we could have wanted for such a special occasion. The house is perfectly located a short 15-20 minute drive away from popular Lake Placid, with all of its adventures and amenities, but removed just enough to be quiet and refreshingly private, so we could focus on each other and spending romantic time together. When we arrived, the property was pristine. The pictures don't do the interior of this home justice; the lofted ceilings and incredible Adirondack views make it feel luxuriously big, while the comfortable, cozy furniture keeps it relaxing and intimate. We were lucky enough to have wonderful weather for almost the whole week, and there is so much to do in the area that we couldn't have run out of activities even if our vacation had been four times as long. We went hiking, kayaking, and drove into town for dinner and to explore the Olympic Center. I would have loved to go horseback riding, but we're saving that for next time. One of the property's greatest strengths is its owners, the Murphy family. They provided excellent customer service before and during our stay. They work very hard to make sure your vacation is exactly what you want by being prompt and responsive when you need them, but respectful and unintrusive otherwise. A vacationer couldn't ask for more. I highly recommend this property. I've spent time in Lake Placid in years past and it was already a favorite spot, but my new husband was experiencing it for the first time. We will absolutely rent Highpeaksdrifter again in the future, both in the winter and summer so we can experience the year round fun that the Adirondacks have to offer. Claire M

Loving the ADKs in perfect vacation home ever!
Date of Stay: June 2011
My husband, two children and myself have vacationed in other parts of the Adirondacks, NJ, NH, Cape Cod and Maine. We have stayed at the Murphy home twice, once in the summer and once in the winter. We have had THE best vacations here. Their home is immaculate, very well maintained and appointed - everything one needs in a vacation home is here - even a Wii and DVD movies for the kids and a fireplace, deck and walking trail that my husband and I enjoyed immensely. They have 2 flat screen TVs! There is so much to do here and the house is very close to everything - skiiing, kayaking, fishing, shopping, etc. My children love the trail and to snoeshow right out the back door. There are several restaurants in the area as well - without going into Lake Placid, which is only about 15 minutes away. Although we do love to go into Lake Placid to take part in the wine and beer tastings while the kids ski and ride at Whiteface. There are great restaurants in the immediate area also.
I really cannot say enough about this wonderful vacation home. Forget vacation...I could live there!!

Date of Stay : October 2010
We just returned from an excellent getaway at this Lake Placid home. The owners were very accommodating, and the house exceeded our expectations. Everything we needed was there for us, and it was exceptionally clean. We had three kids with us (12,15 and 19), and they loved the place. They can't wait to come back in the wintertime so that they can ski, and have requested that we rent this same place. We can't say enough good things about it. We will definitely be back

What a great place. Just got back from canoeing and hiking in the Adirondacks. Stayed at Highpeaksdrifter and the pictures do not do this place justice. My friends and I tossed around whether or not we should camp out while we did our Canoe trip with multiple portages in the St Regis Wilderness Area. We decided we wanted to feel like we were camping but have a bed and a shower at the end of the day. This place did not dissapoint. All of the amenities of a modern house (wifi, DISH, air conditioning, full kitchen), yet go out on the deck and patio and you are grilling and lighting a bonfire in the wilderness. We were camping until we weren't. Best of both worlds. House is very clean and brand new. Definitely coming back.

A terrific spot for our family's annual hiking weekend in the high peaks area; Highpeaksdrifter will also be a top choice for our winter ski trip. The house is spacious, well-equipped and very clean; the location affords easy access to Lake Placid, Wilmington, and the great outdoors. Our group of six was very comfortable. Evenings around a campfire were especially memorable and the star gazing was rivaled only by the early morning mountain view. The excellent internet connection was appreciated. The owners were easy to reach and most helpful. Highly recommended.
