Owner Supplied Testimonials
From Jay M. 2015: Awesome just awesome. Very impressed on all the renovations and accommodations that are offered at the Boathouse. My wife and I had peaceful quiet moments on the deck watching tide roll in and out. Deck furniture is a plus with Webber Grill. fully operational Kitchen and Laundry. Large LED TV with cable and premium HBO channels. free Hi Speed wifi and magnificent gas fired fireplace to take chill off house in AM versus cranking up full whole house heat. Views from living room and deck are unbelievable. We loved our stay and will definitely return.
From Jeff B, 2015: My wife and I just celebrated our honeymoon here. What a great spot! Our visit was late in September, which is just out of season. So, keep that in mind if you travel at this time because EVERYTHING CLOSES at 7PM, or just has crazy hours to begin with. Ellsworth is your last chance for places not effected by the Season. Take advantage of the food and shopping while you can! The Boathouse is right on Main street of Winter Harbor, right on edge of Henry Cove. I know what you're thinking: Main St? Sounds busy. And that's absolutely not the case. There is one T junction in the very small town of Winter Harbor (where rt 186 meets Main st.) and with the population as small as it is, I think on average about 10 cars go down the rd. There's a house on the right, but no one was there. To the left of the house is some brush, and about 40 yards away is the main boat ramp to get into the water. Being that this is Maine, the tides are quite erratic, and the boat ramp is unusable unless its the peak of high tide, so there wasn't any traffic there either, save for a few sail boats. The low tide does take the water quite a bit away from the back deck as well. Ok, back to the house. The place is fantastic. Clean, up-to-date, spacious (family of 5 could fit comfortably) and you will NOT be "roughing it" like some other cottages. There was a nice folder with all the details you'd want, maps, brochures, etc. letting you know everything that's around. There's wifi, TV with a great picture, comfy seats, a fire place that has a remote for adjusting, and a fully stocked kitchen . We felt at home almost immediately. The beds are comfy too. We slept great because of that and the absolute silence of that town at night. The deck right out the sliding glass doors is the place to be. We loved sitting out there every morning, drinking coffee, watching the seagulls splash around in the water; getting that fresh sea breeze. Let me put it this way: when was the last time you were on a vacation, but you found yourself actually kinda wanting to just stay in your room? Yea, its a whole 'nother level of relaxing. The town is great too. Everyone was super friendly, saying hi and smiling. Go to the Lobster Co-op and buy your lobster there for super cheap! We can't wait to come back to this absolutely perfect place to relax. You'll have to travel to get to most "destinations" but don't snooze on going to Schoodic Point. Its gorgeous. We left with absolutely no regrets and so many memories.
