About the area

The Schoodic Peninsula is a quiet yet ever increasing in its popularity. Set across the bay from Bar Harbor, the Schoodic Point section of Acadia Nat'l. Park is located minutes from the cottage and is a beautiful piece of shoreline to explore. Bold, rocky granite outcroppings, crashing surf as well as hiking trails on Schoodic Head offer much to do. This is in the center of the several working fishing villages that make up the Peninsula and offer some great area restaurants, antiques, Maine crafts and several galleries to browse as well. Stop by the 5&10 in Winter Harbor for all those things you may have forgot or for souvenirs...one of the last 5&10'S left! Easy commute to Bar Harbor or take the ferry (passenger/bikes) out of Winter Harbor and enjou a great cruise among the islands and avoid the traffic. Great location for several good day trips or just kick back and relax and enjoy the property...catch up on a book or be inspired to write one! Excellent locale for biking, photography, kayaking, painting, etc...Happy planning!

Getting here

Bar Harbor airport is nearest, though Bangor International is also an option. There's a ferry in nearby Winter Harbor to take you straight to the heart of Bar Harbor, across Frenchman Bay. In Bar Harbor, there are free buses to take you to various parts of the island and park.

Interaction with guest

Cottage is wonderfully secluded and guests enjoy peace, quiet and independence. A notebook on site provides all necessary information about the cottage and surrounding area, though I am, of course, available by text or email if there are any questions.

“Just as advertised”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2014

It was just as it sounds. In the woods. Private shore view. Somewhat remote location. One hour drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia even though its across Frenchmans Bay. Schoodic is really close by car. Cottage is charming with some older features but the back porch/deck cant be beat. Morning view will mesmerize anyone.

Owner's reply: Thanks for coming - we hope to see you again next year!

“Stunning scenery”

Absolutely stunning scenery and beautiful oceanfront cottage. The cottage was very private and it had everything you needed for a wonderful vacation! We couldn't have asked for more!

“Perfect!”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2013

The cottage was everything we expected. The weather we had for the first week of October was perfect. One day we had 77 degrees. We were glad we brought our bikes although we were intimidated by the hills of Summer Rd. We drove to Schoodic Pt. , parked and biked in. (thanks to Washington the Park was officially closed) It was great not having the car traffic. Next time we would bring our kayak because we could have put it in right at the cottage. We actually thought it would be to cold to kayak so we did not bring it. The cottage had everything you would need, Even supplies to make your own Lobster dinner fresh from the pound Co-op. Sunsets were just spectacular and you should gear your day to be home for it!! We did not miss one! It was a great place to get away from it all. Although I did not have cell service (sprint) my husband unfortunately did! :) (verizon) The cottage does have wifi and it was good to have the internet to sometimes plan the day and get some information. Great memories were made and to cherish!

Perfect from beginning to end. The cottage was better then imagined and the location was perfect for a week of cycling, hiking and kayaking. Thank you for sharing this wonderful cottage.

“Best Vacation”

Reviewed 14 Sep 2010

We travel a lot - first time to Maine. We lucked out by renting this beautiful and secluded cottage in the most perfect location last minute and with little knowledge of the area. My husband and I took our 9 month old daughter and dog. The amount of space worked out great. Can't say enough about this property and the location and Maine in general. If you go, be sure to check out Winter Harbor and Schoodic Point/Acadia National Park a few miles down the road and Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park across the bay. Once we got to the cottage, it was hard to get motivated to leave and sight-see! Very clean, comfortable and tastefully remodeled.

“55 Triad Lane”

Intimate and secluded setting where time stands still...Many opportunities to observe nature and quiet the mind. Property is located 4/10 mile from a paved road, in the woods, with the rocky coast of Maine in the back yard. Many intelligent design elements in the cottage make this a great stay.

“Best Place we have ever stayed”

Reviewed 13 Jul 2009

Drove 20 hours and what a pleasant surprise, the home was so comfortable, cozy and clean, had every necessary untensil, pots pans board games, movies washer dryer. The beds were very comfortable, The location is in a great little area that is very quiet yet just a about 100 yards up the road you can be on the rocky shore line. Very cozy place if you wanna get away spend time with the family, but still have a great Maine experience. The appliances and even the bedding in this property are all top of the line and even though there is no cell phone service the house had unlimited long distance if you needed to call (Domestic only. Great stay really got to relax spend quality time with wife and daughter. Great people in this community all very nice love to answer questions about the area.
