“In the Heart of Winter Park”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2010

Our family stayed In the Swenson's home while skiing. We found the ski rental at "Epic" very easy and we were all pleased with their equipment. We also used the bus to and from the ski resort. With a family our size this was a great convenience. The house is everything it boasts; big and beautiful and the hot tub works wonders on soar muscles!

Why Winter Park, Colorado?

We have skied all over North America, Europe, Japan, and Australia, and we were looking for a great mountain that was family friendly. We did a family ski vacation in 2006 and we were hooked! Winter Park has it all - a huge mountain for all ski levels, family friendly, good nightlife, affordable, laid back, and yet seemed like an authentic and genuine Colorado town.

We live in the East and chose Winter Park because it is easy to get here from Denver International Airport (DEN) and relatively inexpensive to fly in and out of here from most places in the US.

Why our Unit in Red Quill Village?

Our place is huge - it is spread out over multiple levels - 3 bedrooms on the top floor, kitchen and great room on the middle levels, and office and 4th bedroom in the basement. We typically have 2 families staying at one time, but you never feel crowded or on top of one another given all the levels. If people want to sleep early or late, it's easy to do so and not be disturbed. Also, kids can play in a separate area and not bother the adults.

The other great thing is how close it is to everything in town - it is walking distance to all the restaurants, shops, and bars so that once you are here you really don't need a car. Also, we are a 2 minute walk to the shuttle stop to the ski area - it is on the main street with about 4 different shuttle lines stopping there - so wait time is at most a couple of minutes during the peak morning and afternoon times. The ski area is only 2 miles up the main road, so the drive is only a few minutes. We also like to drive up to Mary Jane and park the car and just walk to the lifts there - the parking is free and it's convenient!
