Great house for a large group

March 21, 2016

Our women's hockey team stayed in the "caretaker's house" for a weekend tournament. The house very easily accommodated ten of us. Everyone had a comfortable bed (no mattresses on the floor!), and the dining room table sat all of us for meals. The kitchen, while not fancy, is well-enough equipped, with plenty of dishes, flatware, and glasses, and is well organized. The house is very clean and has a pleasant decor, rustic/country. That there were only two full baths required us to keep our visits there brief, but was not ever a problem. We would definitely stay there again.

Owner's reply:

We had a wonderful stay in the Caretakers House. It is so conveniently located - walking distance to downtown Wolfeboro, the bike/ walking trail, stores, and more. The house was great with plenty of room to spread out and it is beautifully furnished and exceptionally stocked with everything you might need! There were so many lovely touches from the fresh flowers to the sweet welcome note on the chalkboard. The managers of the property were so friendly and had tons of great suggestions for things to do, places to go, etc. And the kids LOVED the tire swing and their giant top-floor room with the balcony! A perfect place for a family trip! We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Gorgeous house right in town!

The caretakers house of the Wolfeboro Cottages is gorgeous! We stayed for a week in July and had a great time. We were worried at first, because we usually stay in a rental right on one of the lakes, but it wasn't a problem at all. We used the bikes there several times to ride to Albee Beach along the bike trail. We borrowed kayaks and used them on Crescent Lake and Lake Wentworth. We drove the short trips to both Brewster Beach and Carry Beach and we spent lots of nights trying new ice cream shops (there are so many to choose from!) The house is great for a large group. We had three less people than we originally planned, so my kids could have their own rooms! David and Jodi could not have been nicer or more helpful. Checkout was the easiest I have ever experienced.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why would I want to book here?
A: People mostly love the fact that it is one of the only places that you can throw your keys on the counter or in a drawer and walk or bike to everything there is to do in this quaint town. The home has heat, AC & Ceiling Fans, Free WIFI, Flat Screen TV’s & Cable, & Grill and Picnic Tables, Community Fire Pits with Adirondacks. And the most amazing Tire Swing in New England (so we are told)...
Q: How far away is the water?
A: There are 3 free broad sand public beaches within 5 minutes of this location. People who visit our area consistently comment on the cleanliness of these beaches, clarity of the water and family friendly environment of Lake Wentworth and Lake Winnipesaukee. The Back Bay of Wolfeboro Harbor is about 1000 feet through the woods and so we are not on the water, but we are surrounded by 3 lakes. We have free loaner Kayaks for those of you who would just like to explore the canals, streams, and other waterways, but Fishermen and our boaters love the fact that rentals, equipment and free launches are only 5 minutes away.
Q: What is there to do?
A: We are tucked into the only private woodlands in the historic section of town known for its water falls which wereused to power the old excelsior mills of Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in America!. People love that you can put your car keys in a drawer for the week and walk to shows, activities, lakes, trails, museums, dining, shopping and SO much more for EVERY age. We have free loaner Bikes (and Kayaks) to explore the old waterfront rail trails, canals and shopping areas… If you would rather, you can walk to the downtown waterfront in 5 minutes with its ice cream parlors, small boutique stores, playgrounds, fishing, and park activities. Wolfeboro has that Norman Rockwell ambiance. a quintessential small town with the activities, amenities and feel of one of his insightful paintings. As the summer comes into full swing, there is a diverse schedule of free events, craft shows, carnivals, movies and concerts in the park, playgrounds, sidewalk days, restaurants, coffee shops, pubs, boat building, fishing derbies, fairs, book signings, antique boat shows, canoeing, kayaking and sailing races, bike paths, etc. Motor Boats, Water toys or Lake Excursions are readily available.. In addition, you are 3-5 minutes walk from a brand new hospital, laundry mat, drug & liquor store, groceries and banks, along with diverse shopping and conveniences to service most all of your needs just a 2 minute walk away.
Q: What about larger family or friend reunions?
A: Everyone tells us that this is the perfect setting for special family and friend groups because we are uniquely designed to build connections. This allows us to accomplish community in a very different way than hotels you might consider… they all comment on the fact that people can be together but not be on top of one another. They create an intimate "neighborhood" while visiting each other’s "homes", taking walks to various activities around town, to the waterfalls, the lakes, beaches or events, shops, restaurants and pubs around town and on the Harborfront. Sitting in one of our bench swings, lounging in hammocks or gathering in the Adirondacks by an evening fire are great community and relationship builders. Along with the Cottages behind this spectacular home, we can host up to 50 people at a time if you get to us early enough… I believe you will really love it here with everything within walking distance. If you think this might be a good idea, give me a call to secure the cottages you want, afterwhich, if you prefer, I can relieve you of the complications of individual bookings and needs of your selected guest list. You just send me your special list of invitees along with their contact information, how you would like them situated and I will take over from there. I can send you reports on the progress as you need. Or you can simply give them my information and have them contact me directly…
