Arrive at the cedar cottage and open the door to stunning views and walls of glass. Completely renovated, the cottage boasts a fully equipped chefs kitchen, Roche Bobois dining table and chairs, and original art and antiques as well as delightful objects from "ThinkBig!" creator, Bob Malkin.
Soak in our charming, claw foot tub with river view after a day of hiking, golf, tennis, swimming, fishing or skiing and allow the stresses of every day life to vanish. Enjoy the warmth of our cast iron fireplace. Have a glass of wine on the wide deck overlooking the water, or walk our path to views of the Fernwood Falls. Swimming is superb by the falls. Your well-mannered dog is welcome at A Stream Side Cottage.
Our upstairs loft with its sloped ceiling is a magical kingdom for children. The trundle bed sleeps two, and there are cozy corners for reading and a desk overlooking the creek where your kids may find inspiration to sit down and write that essay on "Where I spent my summer vacation." It's bound to get an "A."
Taller guests may prefer to sleep on the comfy, full-size sofa bed in the living room.
Have breakfast or lunch at Circle W, just a minute or two drive from the Cottage. Stroll over to the historic Fernwood Restaurant for cocktails and dinner. Garlic lovers? Don't miss Emil's table-made Caesar salad.
For nature lovers, we are within walking distance of hiking trails leading to spectacular vistas and waterfalls. Hiking trails range from easy to strenuous. We provide trail maps and many books about the area. We also provide the current issue of The Woodstock Times; the "Almanac" section lists a weekly calendar of events. We're ten miles from Hunter Mountain for winter sports. A short drive will take you to the 280 ft. Kaaterskill Falls, the tallest in New York State. North and South Lake, also nearby, offers kayak and row boat rentals in season.
If you love antiquing, don't miss Hudson, NY. It is a collector's dream, with blocks and blocks of antique stores, art galleries and restaurants. Hudson is about a half hour drive from The Waterfall House. I forgot to mention the many art galleries and openings in Woodstock, Catskill and Saugerties.

Reviews for this vacation cottage rental in Woodstock, New York
We rent cottages, houses & cabins frequently. Babs & Bob really have this place well thought out, from the heart! They have all the right/good quality kitchen tools and really help you to know the area/neighborhood (Great scenery & view from the house as well). I very much enjoyed doing my morning yoga by the large windows :-), "taking in" the stream. And, important to us: their place was very clean! We really enjoyed our stay, so much, that we stayed an extra day :-). I highly recommend this place!
Oh, and! They even had a nice little set up for our dog :-). He enjoyed his stay too!

We had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend at the Streamside cottage. It's unlike any house we've rented. The view of that stream outside is really something to see. We spent hours on the deck every day, took some walks up to the falls and to the restaurant/bar just up the road. The house itself is very cozily decorated and great for hanging out in on a rainy day. The surrounding streets are welcoming if you're a runner. Saugerties is nearby, about a 20 minute drive, with lots of restaurants and shops to visit. This is a great spot.

We spent 5 nights at the cottage and thoroughly enjoyed the property. What a great setting! The creek was a little low for fishing, but just right for exploring. My (almost) 17 year old son had a great time heading up to the waterfalls and fishing in the pools. Our lab mix headed straight over the rocks and into the middle of the creek for a drink and to lie down - she loved it. The deck got plenty of use, sitting and listening to the water was a daily past time. The kitchen is great, we made several meals at the house. We got takeout from the Fernwood up the street as well as had dinner there one night. The place is very "rustic" but charming AND the food is spectacular. I highly recomend making time to visit the restaurant. If you're looking to fish, head to Colgate Lake. It's in East Jewett, pretty easy to find (head toward Hunter) and oh so picturesque. Very quiet and serene. All in all we had a great vacation, thank you to Bob and Babs.

My husband and I brought our lab and chihuahua along for our 1 year wedding anniversary. It was amazing and we weren't ready to go home. The location of the creekside cottage is perfect! Just take a short walk up the creek and there are a series of waterfalls and swimming holes. Our dogs were both loving life and the adventures this place provides. A 5 minute drive around the corner brings you to kaaterskill falls which is gorgeous and breathtaking the entire hike. The cottage is nestled in just the right location so that it appears to be the only building around as you watch the creek from the back deck. We would love to come back and explore this area some more in a different season!

We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary here and as soon as we walked in the cottage we knew that this was going to be the perfect place for us to celebrate our very special day. There were balloons and a basket of goodies waiting for us; so thoughtful. The cottage is beautiful, comfortable and well appointed. It was very cleaned and nicely decorated. The kitchen has everything you need and more to cook the perfect meal, spacious open floor plan, gorgeous bathroom and cozy bedroom with comfy bed and lots of pillows to choose from. But the most beautiful thing is that as soon as you walked in the door the beautiful view of the woods and creek is right in front of you thanks to the wall sliding doors. Steps below is the creek and a clearly marked path to the waterfalls; just gorgeous. We certainly loved this place and so did our dog Max. They provided bowls, treats and a bed for him to lounge around on. This place will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we will definitely be back.

My family and I had a wonderful weekend at the Streamside Cottage. We found the home as represented in the photos, very comfortable and extremely well-appointed. We had everything we needed and more. Barbara and Bob seem to have thought of everything and made sure our stay was exceptional, responding to our few requests within minutes. They were thoughtful enough to also have a "welcome package" for the dog. Our toddler very much enjoyed running around in the yard, exploring by the creek, climbing the steps of the porch, running around the house and bath-time in the claw foot tub. Our dog just loved being outdoors and playing in the rushing stream. My husband and I enjoyed the quiet time away from NYC and the jumps to Saugerties and Woodstock. Overall a wonderful experience. Thank you also for the welcome gifts. I would recommend this property for a weekend or even an extended stay. Hope you have as wonderful a time as we did.
