The cave system at Millerton Lake is the world's most notable example of a corrasional cave (i.e., scoured out by abrasive material, rather than dissolved) formed in granite. Almost a mile long, it has been sculpted over thousands of years by an active creek that runs year-round. Caves in granite are far less common than those formed in limestone or marble, and typically are just passages among boulder piles. The Caves are noted for their well-developed speleogens such as sculpted blades, flutes, pendants, and potholes in bedrock. Besides its scientific value, the caves offer unique recreational opportunities.

Also close to Badger Pass (California's first ski resort!), China Peak Ski Resort, Snow Play Parks, Narrow Gauge Railroad Tour of the Redwoods, 2 Casinos, Wine Trail, Blossom Trail, Lake Country, horseback riding, ice skating, off-road trails, golfing, antiques, shopping and so much more!

Excellent hospitality, location, and rental

May 25, 2011

Excellent hospitality: Laurie was extremely helpful in every aspect of our bachelor party planning. From arranging details, escorting our cars from the meeting location, helping us find Groupons on local activities, suggesting restaurants, being flexible with timing, sharing items we forgot to pack, and even providing a welcome gift upon our arrival, Laurie made our experience very enjoyable. Excellent location: Tucked away in a small centra-CA town, this lakehouse had great views, was secluded enough to enjoy our experience, and was close enough to accomodate a quick drive both from LA and SF. Excellent rental: A great deal for the price. Comfortable, home-like, and clean accomodations. Great for large groups, couples, and families. Can't begin to say how much I recommend this rental!

Owner Supplied Testimonials

We can't begin to thank you enough for the hosting such a great experience for my friends and I!! Thank you for opening up your house to us, and making Carlo's bachelor party the best experience we could ask for. The space was exactly what we needed. The location was ideal. And your hospitality was second to none!
Thanks for being flexible, and apologies if we got a little too loud. The group is definitely excited to make this a tradition. Though we didn't have a chance to sign your guestbook, I'll be happy to recommend your place to anyone. Thanks again for everything!

Dear Laurie, How are you and Evana doing? Is it golden sunshine on the shores of Lake Millerton? We are now back into the routine of life in Kampala - awaiting the sloshing of the rains too. Thank you so very much for making our stay in your house so good. Also I appreciate you forwarding the camera charger - be lost without it! Hope back to school goes well.
