About the area

Zihuatanejo is a small but growing fishing village and resort town situated on the Pacific Coast of Mexico. The Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Airport is 20 minutes from the Casa and has direct flights available from Houston, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle and seasonally from Minneapolis, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary. Most major airlines fly to Zihuatanejo and you can also connect through Mexico City through AeroMexico. Zihuatanejo has retained much of its old charm with stunning architecture, cobblestone streets with shops, bars, restaurants, art galleries and open air markets. In Centro Zihuatanejo, most streets are pedestrian only and you can explore the town and take in a free Sunday night concert at the basketball court which serves as the main meeting place in town. In Zihuatanejo you will find four separate beaches, including Las Gatas, which you will access by water taxi. Las Gatas is lined with quaint restaurants, massage tents and watersport rentals. Relax, take in the sun, snorkle and enjoy the fresh seafood. La Ropa, the largest and most popular beach, provides beautiful surroundings, white sand, restaurants, bars, boutique hotels with day services, parasailing, jet skiing, sailing and great massages from $18 for a 1 hour massage. Zihuatanejo is also situated just 5 miles from the master planned resort town of Ixtapa. In Ixtapa you will find high rise hotels, palm lined modern streets, two additional beaches, two golf courses and a very active night life. If a night a Senor Frogs or disco dancing until 4 AM is your thing, Ixtapa will provide just that and only a short 15 minute taxi ride away.

“Lets keep Casa Encantadora a SECRET!”

Reviewed 30 Jul 2016

Dan and Rita, as I sit here and reminisce about our amazing week at Casa Encantadora, I’ve come to realize how hard it is to put into words what a truly magical place this is. There’s a saying that a picture is worth a thousand words. I used to believe that saying until I saw the true beauty of Casa Encantadora and Zihuatanejo. Pictures can NOT illustrate how picturesque the views are or how stunning the Casa is. As for the staff, they are second to none! Gustavo, the house manager is a true gentleman. He will make sure all your wishes, wants and needs are taken care of. Herminia is a phenomenal chief who creates delicious authentic meals. We only ventured into town 1 night for dinner out. She was that good! Rufi the house keeper has a million peso smile that just makes you feel good and loved. I’m torn about writing this review. One part of me wants the world to know what an amazing Casa this is and the other part of me is selfish. I want to keep Casa Encantadora and Zihuatanejo a secret, only known to a select few. I believe I’m going to be selfish! Please disregard all of the above!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much Bill and Ursulla! I'm so glad you enjoyed your vacation with us!

“Absolutely wonderful vacation”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2014

We stayed a full week at Casa Encantadora and without a doubt this was one of the best vacations I have ever had! The Casa is wonderful with it's open living space. It's the perfect combination of indoors and outdoors in one setting. The infinity pool is perfect for relaxing and viewing out onto the Pacific and the town of Zihuatanejo. There is a full kitchen, and an absolutely fabulous cook! Each meal was wonderful and authentic, and I'm a very picky eater. The relaxing living space is comfortable and roomy and again part indoors and part outdoors. I love how they brought the setting of a home and the outdoors together. The bedrooms are quite nice, each with it's own bathroom. There are three bedrooms one level down from the main living space. One level down is the master suite, and one more level down is a media room, also equipped with a full bathroom. The tropical plants and flowers are beautiful and there are several great photos spots to capture the memories of your stay. The town and beach are a quick cab ride down the mountain. The locals are all very nice and friendly. The house manager will help you set up excursions, such as a sunset catamaran ride or a fishing trip. If you are looking for a fun and adventurous vacation or a total relaxation vacation, or anywhere in between, I recommend you book time at the Casa Encantadora. I will definitely be returning!

Owner's reply: Hello Sheryl!! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Encantadora!! It is a beautiful place and we are so happy that we are able to share our place with y'all!! Let's start planning for your next trip!! Cheers, Rita and Dan Delity

“True Luxury in Zihuatanejo”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2013

This is the 4th time we have visited Zihuatanejo, but we weren't prepared for the experience we had at Casa Encantadora. The first thing you notice when you enter is the amazing view. Taking in the ocean, bay, town and mountains while sipping coffee in the morning or margueritas in the afternoon is not to be missed if you enjoy a true luxury vacation that caters to every need. Rita was available all through the initial inquiry, reservations, preparations and stay. We wanted to take the staff home with us. Erminia cooked some of the best meals we've ever had in Zihua, Rufina kept things spotless and prepared the beds twice a day, in case we needed a siesta. Lucio ran errands, took us on tours, arranged massages and even researched local artists so we could shop for artwork like Rita & Dan have in the casa. Elias arranged his maintenance to fit our schedules. Every bedroom has a view and a full bath, along with a stocked refrigerator. There was wifi, cable TV and just watching activity in the bay. Twice, on Rita's recommendation, we spent the day at LaPerla, enjoying the beach. Our daughter loved the beautiful white sand and the parasailing. You might not expect 4 star dining in a small town, but we loved LaPerla, Amuleto, and LaVillas. We are already planning our return to Casa Encantadora.

Owner's reply: Susan, Rusty and Erin! Thank you so much! We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Casa Encantadora and excited to start planning your next vacation! Most people that visit Zihuatanejo fall in love, that happened to us 10 years ago. We had a dream and the dream came true! And we are happy to share it with y'all! Cheers! Rita Delity
