Region: The Isle of Wight, with its beaches, unspoiled scenery, rich heritage and over 500 miles of award-winning public footpaths is a walker’s paradise, or if sailing is your thing, the renowned annual Cowes Week is not to be missed.

Town: Chale is a scenic farming village, nestled at the foot of St Catherine’s Down on the South Coast of the Isle of Wight. The village itself offers an award-winning pub/restaurant with an excellent children’s play area, and breathtaking coastal and downland walks, especially to the 35ft-tall octagonal tower ‘St Catherine's Oratory’, locally known as the Pepper Pot. This medieval lighthouse was built in 1312 and is believed to be one of the oldest in Britain. The area of National Trust land around the Pepper Pot is a walker's and birdwatcher’s paradise, as the birds can be observed at eye level. Spectacular sunsets looking towards The Needles are quite a sight. Nearby you'll discover some of the island’s best sandy beaches, perfect for swimming, surfing and of course fossil collecting, where you might even discover the odd dinosaur footprint or two.
