“Fantastic Visit”

Reviewed 13 Dec 2016

We had a fantastic stay at this property-Even during a wind storm that knocked out power! There was plenty of firewood on hand and candles for the unexpected turn of events. The privacy this home offers was fantastic and a short drive into town when we wanted to rejoin the world at large. Great water views and nature hikes nearby. The owner has provided local maps and info on area attractions as well. We actually live nearby in Portland,This is a very welcome getaway from our everyday.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much for your kind words and great renters..have a great holiday...Mike & Cindy

“Perfect in every way”

Reviewed 25 Jul 2016

This was our second time renting this house and we had another perfect week in Maine. The owners are wonderful to deal with, very prompt to respond to inquiry and very generous with information about the local area. There are so many things to do in this part of Maine. There are many areas of land that have been preserved and have great hiking trails. Boothbay Botanical Gardens are terrific (be sure to go off on the woodland trail and through the zen garden at the basin). Farnsworth Art Museum is consistently impressive with their special shows not to mention their permanent collection. Be sure to visit the N.C. Wyeths in the beautiful church/museum next door. We swam in the river every day, ate local oysters almost every night (Glidden Oyster is very close by and has amazing oysters, lobsters, little necks etc. - Maine's only lobster store with an honor box in case the owners are out on the water. The house is very cool architecturally and the layout is perfect for a family or a group of friends. It feels sort of like you are in a tree house with all the glass. You can't go wrong with this one! We were all sad to leave the house when the rental was over. Our only consolation is looking forward to the next time we can come back.

Owner's reply: Thanks Victoria, always great to have returning families. Have a great rest of the summer..Mike & Cindy

“Perfect Getaway”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2016

This beautifully designed home was perfect for my family. Photographs and art work adorn the walls and the large windows allow for spectacular views of the sunrise, the river and fireflies at night. It provided a well equipped kitchen and clean comfortable common and private spaces. We especially appreciated the access to the outdoors from each bedroom so people could come and go without disturbing the others. We enjoyed serene morning contemplation by the river, seal watching, shoreline exploration, and even ventured out on the river in floats purchased at the local Reny's store. It's location made it easy for us to visit Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta and Bristol. It was exactly what we needed to decompress from the hustle and bustle of daily life in the city. We would definitely like to return again.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the kind words Cynthia. We're glad you and your family had a wonderful experience. It's incredibly satisfy to have others appreciate the house as much as you do. Have great summer...m&c

“Excellent family vacation”

Reviewed 22 Oct 2015

This house was so beautiful and peaceful for our family of 6. We felt right at home. The music selection was pleasantly surprising, the radiant floor is dreamy, the kitchen is very user friendly, the large wall of windows was not only gorgeous but well loved by even the littlest of us (twins who turned 1 the day before we checked in). I am actually finding it hard to articulate how much we loved the home. They say that "there's no place like home", but honestly, this is like home. It speaks volumes when our 5 year old was not excited to be home with his things but would rather be back at "our Maine house". We would love another chance to go back to our "Maine-home-away-from-home".

Owner's reply: You're making me miss Maine. You did a wonderful job of articulating you time spent at our place Thanks so much for the kind words. Have a great fall. Enjoy those twins. I happen to be one. Small world.

“Amazing light”

Gorgeous modern house on Damariscotta. Comfortable. Airy. Quiet. We loved the kitchen/cooking set up, the amazing windows onto the water. Easy access to Damariscotta and Booth Bay from River road. Great bedrooms and bathrooms. Great for socializing and for relaxing. Good air flow, ceiling fans in main rooms. Beautiful decks and porches, both screened and open. No other homes in view. Great chairs on rock overlooking water. Our experience was 100% positive.

Centrally located, beautiful modern house. Everything as advertised. The owners were very pleasant and good to work with. Highly recommend.

“Exceeded expectations!”

Reviewed 29 Jun 2015

I read the reviews beforehand and had high expectations. The house exceeded those. It is situated in a camp- like setting with dense woods, water views , unpaved driveway, etc. The contemporary house is equipped with high-end appliances, walls of windows, and THEE most efficient wood stove I've encountered. 3 small logs took the chill off one evening. It feels like Frank Lloyd Wright meets IKEA. The owners have taken care of all those small details by stocking the house with paper towels, band aids, shampoo, nail clippers, thermometer, you name it. They recommended a place to rent kayaks and on a moments notice I had two kayaks delivered. My 2 teenagers spent hours on the river kayaking with seals frolicking nearby while my husband and I enjoyed some wine on the Adirondack chairs taking pictures of them. One evening was spent playing scatagories ( supplied by the owners) after we cooked lobsters from the neighboring vendor. Nary an iPod, iPad, tv or any device was in sight or in use! When I needed to send pics to family, WiFi was readily available. A memorable house, a memorable vacation!

Owner's reply: Thanks for all of the kind words. Hope you had safe trip home. Have a great summer...Mike & Cindy

“Would go back in a heartbeat!”

Reviewed 26 May 2015

This house was spectacular. It sits right on the Damriscotta River and you can sit and watch the tide go in and out. We saw seals, eagles, turkeys, and even a bristle worm. The house itself is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Very modern, heated cement floors, screened porch, dream kitchen that is fully stocked with anything you would need, walls of windows everywhere and I mean everywhere!! No escaping the sunrise in this house, it is breathtaking. It is centrally located between Boothbay Harbor (lots of restaurants and bars), Wiscasset, and Damariscotta, where you will find Reny's and Reny's underground (every expensive souvenir can be found here for less). It is a short ride to Pemaquid lighthouse from the house. A must see. The owners are fabulous. We texted and emailed and got an answer immediately and help with anything we needed. I couldn't be happier with my decision to stay here. My pictures from the chairs by the river are gorgeous. I highly recommend this place for your next vacation. I am already planning a girl's get-away and this will be my place.

Owner's reply: Thank you Phaedra, have a great summer...m&c

“The Best Rental Cottage!”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2015

It has taken me way too long to write this review but let me tell you that the cottage is a fantastic rental! Love the windows and almost everything about it. Great kitchen, cottage fully stocked with linens, paper products, soap, etc. Owner is so helpful even though he is not in town. We had problems with the wireless for the internet and Mike spent lots of time getting immediate service from the cable/satellite (can't remember which it is) company. Wish I could get such immediate service from our cable co.! The cottage is stocked with a great music collection, puzzles, games, books, etc. Down the road is a great seafood market where we went daily for lobsters, clams, fish...fresh, fresh, fresh. There is a great farmers market in Boothbay on Thursdays. We ate out once a day and cooked the rest of the time. Super, super, super place to stay. My only problem is that the walk to the water is a bit dicey for me with my back problems. If I could pick up the cottage and put it down on the water's edge, I'd be begging to buy it from Mike! Hope to stay again!

Owner's reply: We're working on that move to the water's edge. That's for the kind words...Mike & Cindy

“Fantastic in every way”

This modernist home was our dream come true--sophisticated design amidst the rural splendor of coastal Maine. The kitchen is a spectacular place to cook, the open plan made for wonderful family & friends' time, the large and spacious bedrooms are serene retreats. We were impressed with the hIgh end fixtures in the bathrooms, appliances in the kitchen, and radiant floors and found the simple decor made this spacious house feel both cozy and convenient. Even in bad weather (it rained on us), the water views and large banks of windows meant we felt like we were having the outdoor experience we craved even while we sat happily playing games, cooking, eating, and relaxing together. This is the perfect midcoast Maine retreat and, for sure, we will be back again soon--we've already made our next reservation!
