“Elaine and Mickey”

Reviewed 13 Oct 2015

We loved our stay at Tugwassa Cottage. Anne was a most friendly and accommodating host. The cottage was clean, with a distinct personality that was so comfortable and unique. The location was perfect, the views spectacular, and within easy distance to Acadia and it's wonderful bike trails.

Owner's reply: Thanks, Elaine & Mickey! I'm glad you had such a good time exploring and biking! Happy to have met you and hope to see you again another season!

“I had a feeling!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

I had a feeling about Tugwassa the minute I saw the photos. I didn't hesitate to contact Ann and book it. I was right! Ann was great, down to earth and honest. The pictures on the site are great but don't do justice to the cottage or surroundings! Sunrises with mist on the water, amazing changing colors in the sky the again another color show at sunset! Awesome! Bring a great camera, you'll be glad you did. Stars at night feel so close and the Milkey Way was visible one night, better even than I remembered it to be! I am not kidding, it was breathtaking, like diamonds in the sky! That alone was worth the drive from Chicago! Winter Harbor was very nice and Schoodic point is a must see. Again, bring a camera! Hummingbirds are everywhere around the cottage and they're not shy! Loved it! If you can, stay for more than a week, you'll be so glad you did. Thank you Ann, we certainly hope to be back to soon!

“An ideal vacation spot”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2015

Once again Tuugwassa and Anne provided just what needed for our 2 week vacation. We felt right at home, doing the kind of things we like. We brought our own motor for the boat. Fishing was fun. The trout and bass we wanted are still in the pond.

Owner's reply: Ah, but Ben, they are just growing and reproducing more little fish for the next time.....:-) I'm so glad you were back again this season, and look forward to next summer, a bit later in the season...maybe that will do the "fish" trick! Thanks for booking already for 2016!!

“Relaxing Adventure!”

Reviewed 29 Sep 2014

My husband and I stayed at Tugwassa for a week this September. My sister and brother-in-law flew up from FL and joined us for the week. What a beautiful spot! The cabin was clean and cozy and was stocked with anything you might possibly need, including the lobster pot. There were so many suggestions on things to do that we actually ran out of time to do them all. The Schoodic Peninsula was so charming and MUCH quitter than the Acadia Nat'l Park; although we did visit it one day. We had some unexpected visitors the second morning we were there. Three mallard females decided we were a great opportunity for breakfast and dinner... we really enjoyed them rallying around and taking the bread right out of our hands! We will definitely be back, hopefully sooner rather than later. Thanks Anne! We appreciate you sharing your poet's cottage with us!

Owner's reply: Thanks, Jenn & Mike! Glad you had a great time and met some "new friends"...I didn't even know about the ducks..but they visited the next guests as well. I actually bought a loaf of bread so that they weren't completely freeloading on unsuspecting guests! :-) Adds to the "ambiance"... Hope yo see you again, as you say, "sooner, rather than later". anne

“a new favorite in a familiar place”

We've vacationed at Jones Pond for 30 years. This was our first time at Tugwassa, and hopefully not our last. Cottage, furnishings, congenial owner and location all just about ideal for our kind of older vacationers (with Maine roots). We advise booking early.

Owner's reply: So glad you found me and you could continue your Summer vacation tradition at Tugwassa this year. looking forward to seeing you next summer! Happy birthday, Jane. Nice the deer came out to surprise you! anne

“Cabin on the lake.”

Reviewed 12 Jul 2014

From the minute we arrived we felt at home. Everything you could possibly need was there and then some. The screened room, the barbecue grill, and of course the canoe and the kayaks. We had views of the water from almost every window. Coffee overlooking the lake on the dock was amazing. The perfect weather also helped. It had all the activities and the peace and privacy we were looking for. It was truly an amazing vacation.

Owner's reply: Thanks, guys! It was great that you came north for vacation and were able to enjoy the area, and the weather definitely helped! So good to meet you and hope you'll come back again! anne

“Happy Campers”

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Poet's Cottage. It was a great get-away place, a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. We paddled around the lake and hiked nearby trails. The cottage was quaint and we felt right at home.

Owner's reply: Thanks, guys! Glad you had a great time! Hope to see you again soon. Thanks for choosing "Tugwassa". anne

Lovely cottage directly on Jones Pond. Very quiet and peaceful. Beautiful scenery and wildlife to photograph. Very near Bar Harbor and Winter Harbor areas for plenty of recreational opportunities. Very serene.

Owner's reply: Thanks so much, Christine & Philip & family. I'm glad you enjoyed Tugwassa and hope you'll be able to return some day for more explorations & relaxation. anne

We had the pleasure to stay over the Columbus Day weekend at the cottage and have nothing but positive things to say about the entire experience. First, the property is situated on a peaceful and beautiful piece of land that looks directly out onto the water, wildlife, and canvas of colorful foliage. Second, the inside is cozy and the burning stove in the living room was something to look forward to sitting in front of after a day hiking in Acadia National Park. Third, the location on Schoodic point is very convenient to get between the two park entrances and into town for groceries, etc. Fourth, the property is more than fairly priced for all of its amenities and conveniences, views and comforts. Lastly, Anne the owner is a caring resident of the community who has a deep love for both the property and the region. She has kindly stocked the cottage with information about the area and its people; she made us feel extremely welcome as first time visitors to Maine. We appreciated that she helped us plan our activities in the park. It really was nothing less than one of the best weekends we have had in New England and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable retreat settled in a beautiful community in the heart of one of America's most beautiful national parks. Andrew and Jonathan

Owner's reply: Thank you! I'm so glad you were able to come my corner of paradise and meet the beauty of the Downeast Maine. Please do come back to the area; there is so much more to explore and experience! anne

Owner's reply: Thanks so much, Bill, for coming to Maine! I'm so glad you had the chance to relax & enjoy the area, and the wildlife (LOL)!! Hope you can come back again sometime; there's much more to explore!
