Description from owner
You'll be charmed by our 1870s-built cottage, with interior woodwork created by local artisans. We are in our 7th season of hosting guests from around the US and Europe. Right on the water, you can enjoy panoramic views and beautiful sunsets on the spacious deck, or in one of two Florida rooms. We offer public water and sanitation, a big plus over cottages with filtered lake water and septic systems.
Nearby is the town of Penn Yan, with groceries, laundry, restaurants, and every amenity you'll need. And you're in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country, and a short drive from dozens of wineries and craft breweries, offering world class vintages and excellent food. You're also close to a marina, a beautiful lakeside public park, golf, and much more!
You're also close to the charming towns of Hammondsport and Watkins Glen, NY, both of which won "Coolest Small Towns in America" designation in travel publications.
The cottage sleeps 6 very comfortably, with one of the 3-season Florida rooms doubling as a third bedroom. We also welcome your pets. You're going to love it here!

“This is becoming a wonderful habit”
This is our second year staying at this property, and we had a better time this year! I love that we don't have to remember every little thing. We just bring the groceries and ourselves :) The cleanliness and comfort is just what we need to help make sure we enjoy our vacation. Thank you for a wonderful experience. See you next year!
The cottage was cute, clean and quiet. We loved having the kayaks and paddle boat and used them everyday. I would recommend this rental to anyone staying in the Penn Yan area.
“Great Cottage and Conscientious Owner”
We stayed here for two weeks. The cottage was clean and well stocked with many items! Bryan is a wonderful owner. He quickly responds to any questions and if an issue does arise, he makes it right! The best part (by far) are the kayaks! We went everywhere and people always asked where we rented them. By the third day, we knew this was a rare thing to have them included in a cottage rental. Highly recommend and we will definitely return!
“The perfect home away from home!”
Every year we rent a house on one of the finger lakes. This was by far the best place we have stayed. The cleanliness of the place is the first thing you notice, which was very nice. However, the fully loaded kitchen, the games, the DVDs, the books, all the little things you miss on vacations were a wonderful surprise. It was also a great bonus to be so close to everything just in case we forgot to bring something with us. The quite of the lake was wonderful to wake up to in the morning. Just sitting out on the patio or deck was relaxing and the most perfect way to start the day. Having access to the kayaks, was a very nice way to explore the lake too. We are looking forward to going back to this place, something we normally don't do. Bryan was wonderful to schedule this holiday with. Thanks to him for everything.
Spent 2 glorious weeks at this beautiful, well-maintained home on the East Side of the Lake attending my 50th HS Reunion from PYA and celebrating our son's 30th birthday and just visiting with family, the neighbors, a couple of wineries (of course), and just chillin!!! Linens and towels, paper products, condiments as well as kayaks and life jackets were provided for our use. While there is no washer/dryer, that was not an issue for us since we still have family in Penn Yan and made use of their appliances. Even if that were not the case, there is a launderette not 5 minutes up the road from the cottage. We had our coffee every morning on the deck and many family evening bar-b-q's were held after the family went swimming/boating (brother has a boat) kayaking or just sitting around talking. Neighbors are just terrific and even though The Chalet is close to the Marina, the area is incredibly peaceful and beautiful with the sunsets. The only drawback to sitting on the deck in the afternoons from around 5 to 7pm was the glare of the sun on the lake. Since there were no shades to pull down, we improvised by hanging beach towels from the top of the deck to cut down the glare so that we could sit and enjoy the beauty of the lake without being blinded. We had rented last year on the West Side and were so disappointed that absolutely nothing was "as advertised". This was not the case with THE CHALET... It was everything as advertised AND more. We were so pleased with the property, we are planning another trip next year to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.
I just returned from my relaxing stay at Bryan's wonderful cottage with my three grown daughters. We had a grand time. The outside of the cottage was painted a beautiful blue gray just before our stay - it looks fabulous! The inside is clean and cozy. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean and fresh. We were planning our return before we had even finished settling in! Our first day was a bit rainy and chilly, but there was a space heater that kept me toasty warm on the porch. The kitchen is great; it had everything we needed to cook our meals and the grocery store was just three minutes down the road. My daughters enjoyed using the kayaks and had a blast paddling around the lake. I did a little fishing off the dock and caught myself a sunfish! We enjoyed lounging on the deck during the day and loved moving into the enclosed porch to cool off in the afternoons when the sun began to set - and to escape from the wild thunderstorm on our last day! Our sole purpose on this trip was to just sit back and relax, and the cottage more than delivered that feeling. It really has a beautiful, peaceful view. We brought things to keep our hands busy but we couldn't stop gazing at the superb panorama. This is definitely a place that should be at the top of your rental list!
the house was clean and comfortable, we enjoyed our stay...the weather was a little cool, I would have liked to do a little fishing but didn't...thanks, ralph shetaer
