Hi, I'm Kelly!
My family has vacationed on Block Island since 1968. I was 5 when I first visited the island. We always rented 2 or three houses to accommodate all of the family and family friends. We always dreamed of being able to buy a house that fit all of us. Finally, in 2003, after years of saving, my parents, siblings and cousins collectively purchased an old fixer upper. For 8 months we lived in and worked on renovating the house, using skills of family members and friends.
The house is a memorial to my aunt Lynn, who after spending all her vacations on Block Island, longed to move here permanently. She passed before realizing her dream so we realized it for her. Her ashes, along with my uncle's were scattered on the island.
The family enjoys the house during the off season, otherwise we rent to families like ours who like to vacation together. We have had many returning guests in over 10 years of renting. We love that we can share our dream with others.
The best part of staying at Lynn's Way is playing in the yard with all the kids, late night poker games in the dining room and sunsets on the upper veranda.
For the last 16 years I have made Block Island my permanent home.
