Guest House Vacation

“ Excellent ”
January 7, 2016
We stayed in the Guest House for our week stay in Sedona and it was the perfect size for the two of us, and it was exactly what we were looking for! Private, well stocked, and provided us the choice of staying in or eating out (and not wasting left-overs). The location is amazing! The house is located just West of the 89A shopping/tourist strip and it's an easy walk to/from great food and people watching. The views of the mountains are incredible, and the neighborhood is very quiet. Although attached to the main house via the Arizona room, we had plenty of privacy and only heard our neighbors in the main house when they used the laundry room. The kitchen was stocked cooking and eating utensils, a coffee maker and filters. We ended up washing all the dishes before we used them, mostly because they were dusty and I'm a little OCD that way. The fridge (although loud) was spotlessly clean and the freezer was stocked with ice and an ice pack (which after 6 days of 5-7 hours of hiking I was so so happy to have!). The living room is cozy with a great flat screen TV (although we never used it). The bedroom and bathroom were clean, comfortable, and stocked with clean sheets, towels, and blankets. It was cold while we were up there by AZ standards, and the central heat worked amazingly well and fast! There are also two space heaters provided to add a little extra localized heat and was helpful for keeping the bathroom warm and toasty. There's a beautiful closed in sun porch, which we didn't use nearly enough. It was great to sit out there in the mornings and look at the mountains while drinking coffee. We also made nightly use of the hot tub, which was a huge perk! Again, after daily day-long hikes, it was wonderful to relax, chat, and look at the stars in the evening. I really enjoyed our stay here and the owner and property manager were very helpful and responsive to our questions. One night the power went out and after we called to report the next morning, it was fixed by the time we got back from our hike! It was really great having a washer and dryer available; our neighbors in the main house had trouble figuring out how to use the dryer, and the owner called to walk them through it's quirkiness and then it worked great! Another perk is the local herd of Javalina that roams the neighborhood and makes a nightly stop to munch on the grass next to the house - it was so much fun to spy on them from the safety and warmth of the house.
