Hi, I'm Tracey!

Christmas 2015

“ Excellent ”
December 29, 2015
We had a blast at this house. We had family stay in another house from the same company. We hosted christmas for a family or 5 adults and 8 kids. Kitchen was a little tight so we had pizza and cake for our feast. Only complain we had was the washer and dryer were small sized. You have to wash all linen before 11 the morning you leave. One load didn't not fit even the twin bedding. So we were forced to time outings around the washer which was kinda stressful. We only used half the linens because we bought our own blankets and we still took forever to wash everything! I will still rent this house again. I will just bring my own sheets so I don't have to wash everything.

I did not think that the views claimed in the description could really be that great in such an affordable house, but they really were!! Very nice home, too. Spacious living area, comfortable king beds, nice antique furniture throughout the house, and a small fenced yard for the dogs.

Not what I expected

May 6, 2015
The company was nice to work with. Tracey was thorough and organized. I received directions in the mail prior to my trip. The house is pet-friendly so I was bringing my little pup. The directions were hard to follow and I drove around until I found it. The garage was locked so I wasn't sure how I was supposed to access it. Finding the lock box was very confusing since the instructions said it would be located to the left of the front door. But I couldn't find the front door. There is a "sun room" visible when you drive up, but it only has a glass slider. I didn't think that was the "front door" so I walked around the home looking for a front door. Turns out the front door is within the sun room and the sliders were unlocked. Would have been nice to know that. Once inside, I immediately noticed a very strong odor of what I assumed was a deodorizer. It was extremely strong. My pup wouldn't walk on the carpet and stood on the kitchen linoleum shaking. I tried opening the bedroom windows, but it was obvious it was not going to help. I started getting a headache within 5 minutes and I am NOT scent-sensitive. The house was what I would call sparsely furnished in the living room and the furniture seemed old and was uncomfortable. The floor plan was a bit meandering and it was obvious after walking around that this is an older home that appears to have been sporadically updated here and there. The sun-blocking shades in the front window didn't work properly and I almost pulled the main shade off the roller trying to get it to roll up. I really dislike giving a negative review, but I think it's only fair to travelers looking for lodging. The other reviews were very good which is why I chose this one. Perhaps it was just a fluke that I found this rental unacceptable. I ended up leaving without unpacking and found a nice pet-friendly motel nearby. TO THEIR CREDIT Tracey was able to refund one night's stay (out of 2) and of course my deposits. I asked her to check the house herself and she said she did not notice any strong odor, so I guess it could be personal preference. Again, I appreciate her help and willingness to refund part of my rent.

Beautiful, well-kept home

April 30, 2015
This house is immaculately kept! It was super comfortable and super quiet. The woodstove made things cozy, there were plenty of channels on the TV, the main bed (the only one slept in) was very comfortable. The kitchen was perfectly stocked - I lacked for nothing. The furniture was all in very nice condition. I appreciated the pet-friendly touches, like the basket with pet towels, poopy bags, even toys. My only complaint is that I couldn't see or hear the ocean. It's a pleasant walk to the beach but I wish I could have seen and heard the ocean - while at the house I couldn't really tell that I was actually at the beach. That said, Manzanita is a sweet little beach town and I will be back! Next time I rent this place I'll bring some friends!

Could use some updating but great place to stay!

“ Excellent ”
February 5, 2013
If you're looking for an modern, up to date rental, this may not be the place for you. The floorcoverings, appliances, cabinets, etc. are very dated. But it kind of fit in with the charm of the place. It was very clean, cozy, & comfortable for us. We were worried about the master bed due to a previous review, but found it to be comfortable & we both slept like babies. We were worried about the view as well as you can never really tell how the pics were taken. You absolutely do get a view of the ocean & part of the beach, keep in mind you're also looking at roof tops too, but still a decent view. We actually put the beach style chairs on the outdoor bench to get a little better view over the roof tops while sipping Oregon pinot noir. You can definately hear the ocean. The kitchen was well stocked, there actually are old pictures on the walls and decorations on the tables & shelves in this place, where so many of the other places we considered had bare walls and were very sterile. The place does have a wood stove, so bring wood/kindling if you don't want to blow $5.00 for a tiny bundle of firewood from the local grocery store. It also has a gas grille in the garage. There are some quirky things about the place, pocket door from the garage to the laundry room, weird little nooks and crannies, small master bath, storm door to deck squeeks horribly, & even a little musky air to the place, (no one had rented it for a while), but we bought some cheap scented candles at the grocery store and after the 1st night it was gone. Beach access was easy with paths both to the north and south across the street from the house, (the north access has a creek you have to use logs to get across and then a steep bank), the south was easiest. Walking to the downtown shops/stores was simple whether we walked on the beach or road. The downtown wine bar, Vino, was cute and cozy with super friendly people and had great wine and music. The Big Wave had awesome food, (the eggs benedict at breakfast were amazing). While the place could use some updating, it was great to have a place with a view of the ocean, that was that close to the beach with good access, and at a great price. All the other places we considered were much more.

This place was absolutely wonderful for us and our golden retriever. The fenced backyard is perfect for any size dog. This house is located just a short walk to the beach; dog towels provided :) We were also pleasantly surprised to see the property requires recycling, as we do this at our home regularly. This place had everything we needed for a great vacation. Thank you so much for a fantastic stay at the beach. We will be back!

Pet Friendly Retro Ranch

“ Excellent ”
September 24, 2015
We enjoyed the Retro Ranch, it was near everything. We walked to the beach. We were able to stream Netflix and had a strong internet connection. All of the beds were pretty comfortable, but we just used one of them. We had our two little dogs. There was a yard with grass for our dogs. We frequently cooked in the kitchen. We did lose power twice on that extremely stormy day that knocked power out to much of the upper west coast on Aug. 29th. We played a board game in the morning when the power was out. The rules around cleaning/garbage/recycling were pretty strict, but we were pretty happy to get a good portion of our deposit back. We enjoyed eating at the Old Oregon Smokehouse and bought some fresh seafood to cook at the rental. We also love Bread and Ocean for lunch in Manzanita.
