“Location Amazing, Communication Poor”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2017

Review #17231402 “Tropical Spectacular Gulf Front 6 bedroom w/ private heated pool/hot tub” ★ ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ While the house and location were everything we wanted, the business part was NOT satisfactory. Once the money was received by the owner, there was NO further contact, emails bounced back and phone calls went to voice mail. 2 days before arrival I finally managed to contact and get confirmation. Very unacceptable. Once we got there, the water was shut off for 1 hour the first morning we were there. It was water softener maintenance, scheduled during our rental. Very inconsiderate, To top it off I had to contact the owner twice in order to get the security deposit back. I received it one month after we rented. Many people in our group would love to return to this great location, however I would not want to do business with them again.

First I want to say I apologize for your inconvenience and your lack of communication. I have many many guests who return year after year and just love it there and I receive wonderful reviews especially on all my other websites as well! I sent out the policies and procedures and the check in information for you to look and over and I mentioned that during your stay, I would be out of contact a few days and that I gave you 2 of my caretakers contact information if you had any questions or concerns during your stay. They are available 24/7. I mentioned that I live in Hawaii which is 6 hours behind EST and I also travel to the other vacation homes that I have all throughout the islands to make sure of their upkeep is satisfactory and sometimes, very rarely during those trips I am out of cel service, so I have caretakers at all my properties who can be reached and who are more than willing and love talking to my guests to give them input on things to do and where to go and to eat and to help with anything at the homes. Sorry about your lack of communication, I had mentioned that it was important to read the instructions and policies and procedures as well. About the Water purifier/Softner system, I have a huge commercial size system that takes care of the entire home and it needs to be flushed once a week. It is on a timer that runs at 3-4 am in the earlier morning hours. I believe it may have had a power surge where the electrical power might have flicked on and off and it may have stopped the timer system and that is why it probably came on later that morning. That was not done on purpose or intentionally, I assure you. I need to have that system as it maintains proper function of my high end appliances and also makes the water pure and tastes fresh for my guest, it is not a cheap system to have, Im sorry you were not able to appreciate it, but it did make your water during you stay more enjoyable and tasty!! :-) Again I'm glad you enjoyed the location and the majority of your stay, sorry for your inconveniences. Your security deposit was returned to you, but for some reason the address that you wrote down was not legible and was missing a number, it was not because we tried to keep your deposit. You received your full deposit, also back then, several years ago, the websites didn't return deposit until 30 days after date of departure, when you made your reservation, the deposit was set to be returned 30 days, you again did not read the full disclosures and instructions. Currently, now the deposit return policies are it is returned within 7 days of departure. Thank you again for your stay, and glad you enjoy our home and the location, it is my children's favorite place to visit!!!

“Very Nice & Accomodating!”

Reviewed 10 Jan 2017

This home and the owner and caretaker were very nice and accomodating for the 15 family members we had there! The home is very spacious and the decor was very nice with a tropical/beach flare running throughout. The master suite has a balcony overlooking the gulf where we enjoyed starting our day! From there as well as the backyard and dock we observed the areas "locals", aka dolphins, great blue heron, white egrets, pelicans, fish, crabs... totally awesome! We didn't feel like we had to rush out each day to do something, the something was already there. Fishing and kayaking, swimming and soaking in the hot tub, eating outside breakfast, lunch and/or dinner or just soaking up some sun around the pool or dock was very enjoyable! Even though this place has close neighbors, the neighborhood was quiet when we were there. In fact it was very nice strolling through the neighborhood in the evening to see all the Christmas lights and decor or bicycle riding during the day. There is a blacktopped path, made where train tracks once were, nearby too! The tropical foliage around the outside of the home really give it more of a secluded feel as well, not to mention just that tropical feel good feel! Hitting the surrounding areas like Tarpon Springs for its Sponge Docks, dining and shopping wasn't far at all, neither is Clearwater or the areas beaches which are beautiful!

“Great Family Vacation”

Beautiful home with a great location. We had 15 in our group and we all were comfortable with the accommodations. The only suggestion we have is the house needs some general maintenance and a small refrigerator on the lower level. Overall it was a great house for a large group - everyone especially enjoyed the pool, hot tub & beach.

Had a wonderful time at this beautiful waterfront home. Perfect for large families. Very comfortable home and family friendly. Lots to do nearby. Would definitely recommend this house.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed your stay. Our Florida vacation home holds a dear place in my heart and has always been my children's favorite place in the world. It is a very magical and a comfortable welcoming home and very family friendly.

“Crystal beach vacation”

We loved the house. The sunsets are incredible. The pool was perfect. We all agreed that the pictures on line don't do the place justice. The back yard faces the west so the sunsets are right there. There is a dock to go watch for birds, fish , dolphins. (We only saw dolphins twice but herons and pelicans all day long). There is a table by the pool under the tree that has 6 or 8 chairs, there is a couch and 2 chairs under the patio so you can sit outside even when it rains. There are 6 reclining poolside chairs with little side tables just in case you have a drink. Our kids played in the pool for hours. The house and tree shaded the pool until about noon, nice to not have to worry about sun the entire day. The kitchen is fully stocked and has spices and some condiments. We ate in the whole week except 2 lunches. We liked that as our group is big (12) and my SILs are incredible cooks. I get tired of eating out on vacation so this suited us perfectly. We also had 4 small kids with us. We only kayaked a little, but nice to have the option. Also nice to have bikes available, a great bike path is a short ride away and runs clear to st. Pete. We went to Clearwater beach one day. It is about a 30 minute drive, the sand is soft and the waves are not too strong. It was nice, you can rent a shade and 2 chairs for $30. Tons of people there. We saved the "sunsets at pier 60" for the last day and ended up not going because a storm came in but that sound like a lot of fun! There are tons of shells everywhere. A heron came into the patio and sat with us one afternoon.! Full disclosure, some of the furniture is older, but we preferred to not worry about fancy stuff. We spent the daytime in the back yard anyway.

This home is a comfortable, accommodating home for a large family vacation. The only disappointment at the home was the hot tub and pool. The "heated" hot tub and pool never got hot or warm enough for a person to get in.

“Great Reunion”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2013

Very nice. We had a family reunion there and it worked out perfect. There were enough separate bedrooms and bathrooms for all of us. Very nice dining room with an extra table for setting out food/drinks. Nice living room with seats that reclined. We made enjoyable use of the kayaks and the swimming pool. Sitting out on the patio early in the morning or watching the evening sunset was great. We did not use the one upstairs bedroom behind the fireplace. You get to it by climbing what looks like a ladder. It might be OK for people in their teens or twenty's, but not something for people in their 50's and late 60's. All in all, we had a great time and we have placed this house at the top of our list for our next reunion.

We all had a wonderful week at this rental. Would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a vacation on the Gulf!!

“Quiet and Relaxing Vacation”

Reviewed 21 May 2010

We truly enjoyed our stay. The house is located directly on the Gulf on a very quiet street. The pool and hot tub are a very nice addition as there isn't a beach area directly off of the house. If you're renting the house, definitely rent the boat so you can go to the outlying islands -- the waters and beach areas on the islands are fabulous. The birds and sunsets off of the docks are quite amazing to watch in the evenings. One note on the boat... be sure to get a schedule of the tides as the water is very shallow immediately off of the dock. The master bedroom is gorgeous. The other bedrooms are nice, but the matresses are hard. The 6th bedroom is quite difficult to get to as you essentially are climbing a ladder. You definitely don't want to have elderly people or anyone who's intoxicated/not secure on their feet trying to get up and down. The appliances are modern and nice. I think previous tenants may have been rough on them, as there were some quirks with the refrigerator and oven. But any kind of dish, silverware, pots and pans that you would need for cooking are included. Some bath towels are included, but definitely plan to take or buy any beach towels you may need. Also, the hot water in the one bathroom doesn't work if the hot tub and/or pool heat are on. All in all, this is really nice house with a good location. Our entire family (aged 3 mos to 84 yrs) enjoyed ourselves.

You guys were a lot of fun! Thank you for your inquiry. Wish you had mentioned about the hot water in bathroom, the hot and cold were reversed on that shower. The hot water that feeds the house has nothing to do with pool water or hot tub........?? That was mentioned in the book. So sorry. Also the 6th bedroom is the bridge and more for young adults or older kids as it has a steeper stair. Ya, no one should be intoxicated going up those stairs!!!!! And also, nothing is wrong with freezer or fridge, they are sub-zero and you are not supposed to open them right away after closing them because of the tight suction of the hot air being pulled out of the freezer/fridge space. You have to wait about 5-10 sec's because of the intense suction action...... and if you don't you will break the seal if you try to. That was also explained in the book and in greeting and key handover on check-in day.... Sorry for the confusion......

“Spring Break Getaway”

Reviewed 7 Apr 2009

We vacationed with 2 other families in this beautiful gulf front home. 6 adults and 6 teenagers had tons of room and privacy. One of the bedrooms wasn't even needed. Great location in a fun little town just minutes north of Clearwater Beach. Great to just hang out at the pool and BBQ or you could take a quick drive to your choice of several beaches. The upstairs master suite facing the ocean was incredible and huge! What a view! We also enjoyed the use of the kayaks and bicycles. Our only complaints would be that some of the beds were uncomfortable and some bedrooms didn't seem to have access to the central air system.

Thank you for your inquiry! Glad you had a wonderful stay, not sure why bed was not comfortable, I know some people like a softer or harder bed, but there are different softness of mattresses, we have several bed pads that could be moved. I understand why you felt why some bedrooms didn't have a/c. There are 4 different A/C units to supply all the different sections of the home. Someone had turned one of the thermastats up for those couple bedrooms. Sorry, wish you had made a request or had mentioned it during your stay! Glad to see you are coming back!!
