Galveston Travel Resources

Galveston is an island city located in the Gulf Coast area of Texas. Its sub-tropic year-round humidity makes Galveston a popular vacation destiny in any month.

There is plenty to do and see in Galveston, but the primary attractions are the 32 miles of beautiful gulf-front beaches. Many of the beaches offer parking, and provide both restrooms and changing rooms. The city does a great job of hosting free events on the beach, and there's always something to entertain all ages. However, the city beaches aren't the only can't-miss beaches in Galveston. If you're traveling with kids, Palm Beach at Moody Gardens needs to be on the agenda. It is a fun-center consisting of awesome waterslides, a wave park, and even a lazy river and all are housed in proximity to Galveston's only pure white sand beach.

Sadly, Galveston might be best known for the hurricane that nearly wiped out the entire city in 1900. Well, 'The Great Storm' is an attraction at the Pier 21 Theater that offers a super cool and in-depth 27-minute documentary that details the memorable storm and its impact on the city. You can buy 'same day' tickets, and it's an event that is enjoyable for most age groups.

Galveston really is an excellent vacation destination for all ages. With great weather, awesome fishing, shopping and golf, and plenty to keep the kids busy, Galveston should definitely be considered for your next family vacation.
